“that if you want something enough, you can achieve it”

“You’re given one life and it’s down to you what you do with it
. You can literally go in any direction. When I’ve spoken about that in the past I have been slammed a little bit, with people saying ‘it’s easy for you to say that because you’ve not grown up in poverty, so for you to sit there and say we all have the same 24 hours in a day is not correct.’ But, technically, what I’m saying is correct. We do.

“I understand we all have different backgrounds and we’re all raised in different ways and we do have different financial situations, but I think if you want something enough you can achieve it. It just depends on what lengths you want to go to get where you want to be in the future. And I’ll go to any length. I’ve worked my absolute arse off to get where I am now.”

Not someone id come across before, a reality star, who has said the above

is she being reasonable or not?

I've not RTFT! But I get the impression with all people in public eye who are famous/ rich (celebrities/ models etc) they have to constantly put out there how hard they work to get where they are. I think it's to stop any feelings of guilt or remorse in terms of what they do/ what they have. I just tend to roll my eyes and move on. But I think it might be necessary for them to survive - everyone knows the high rates of depression/ suicide in celebrities, especially Love Island / reality TV.
But I also think someone who is naturally graced with beauty (largely luck) is also no different from someone naturally graced with high IQ/ brains (also largely luck) is no different. No amount of work can make up for what you are handed in life. And I don't understand why it's ok to sneer at someone for 'just' being beautiful and not truly having to do much. It's also largely luck of the draw how academic/ clever you are.

Poor MM is learning the hard way that letting success go to your head is a shortcut to unpopularity, the antithesis of what her entire success hangs on.

I thought she came across as arrogant and conceited, a long way away from the sweet slightly clumsy yet determined young woman we saw on Love Island.

Let’s hope for her sake that she has the full support of those who gave her her opportunities in the first place. It’s a ruthless industry as we’ve seen time and time again. And the press just love to build slebs up just to tear them down again.

IsThosAMistake · 08/01/2022 16:53

"Friends they come and go and I find it a bit of a waste of time. It's time consuming trying to make people happy."

"I'm living in a different world now and a lot of my friends can't relate to that."

''I've lost friends since coming off Love Island because sometimes friends not cling on but they don't add much."

MM also said this in the interview which I thought was really sad although I think she meant it to sound tough minded. She seems quite misguided and spoiled by money and “success”.

Jessie75 · 08/01/2022 16:56

And surprise surprise a statement has been released by her management saying that she’s been entirely missed quoted out of context by the media shock horror public for the first time never ever done that 🙄

Does she think people can't see or have not heard her words.
Over privileged and naive.

Twilight7777 · 08/01/2022 21:35

She is assuming that everyone has the same resources, experience, background, physical health and disposable income that she does. In my opinion she is very unreasonable

Ciaram55 · 08/01/2022 21:50

When she, and others like her say they worked their "arses" off to get where they are, I think more like they push themselves relentlessly to get fame. Not the same thing as hard work really.

5128gap · 08/01/2022 22:09

If MMH was plain looking she would have achieved none of the things she is proud of. I have no idea how hard she works (probably no harder than ordinary looking women in regular jobs though) but her fame and wealth is almost entirely due to her appearance.

Twinkleylight · 08/01/2022 22:34

Her appearance is artificial, enhanced by plastic surgery and clever make up. If you stripped that all away, she is quite ordinary looking. There are far more naturally more beautiful women than MM, she just happened to strike it lucky.

I have dd23 and asked her opinion on this

Answer was, I can see both sides & why people are pissed off with MM as she’s had a hand up buts she’s been taken out of context, as it was a podcast, which in her eyes is a casual chat about stuff

It’s the next generation
MM is obviously very influential

But not to people 30+ so I’d guess my opinion won’t really be if consequence, just those under 21 who do idolise her

I think these quotes are more problematic than what she said about working hard to be honest.

This comment makes her sound like a total areshole that's believe the hype about a superficial industry that one day will drop her flat on her face and she will learn the hard way not to forget where she came from.

But then again, maybe her friends were all jealous aresholes so she was right to ditch them...two sides I guess

Sonex · 09/01/2022 11:33

I find her odd looking I have to say (not the demographic, I know). She looks a bit alien like and very hard faced. I don't think there's a lot of longevity in that kind of look as she isn't naturally beautiful. I think she's a classic example of someone that's really believed their own hype and sadly she.didnt have the nouse to keep quiet about it.

darkNlovely · 09/01/2022 15:14

She'd be an arsehole if she dumped all her old friends and surrounded herself with rich Insta mates, but she says she hasn't

Nothing wrong there, we don't know who her past friends were. People outgrow their friends all the time after big life events - having kids, becoming disabled, moving away

It's also not really sad if she's happy with her life. She obviously has some friends, plus she has a boyfriend, and family obviously

the80sweregreat · 09/01/2022 15:31

I only heard of her the other day when LBC was talking about her comments.

She has obviously worked hard for where she is but she is also forgetting that if everyone did what she does for a living then we'd knee deep in rubbish and most jobs wouldn't get done at all. She hasn't seemed to have thought about this one at all! 😂
People such as lord Alan Sugar say these type of things all the time , yet people don't generally pick on him.
She probably has been taken out of context , but not everyone has the ability to be a young media influencer or whatever it is she does either.
