Woman across the street staring into my house

I live on a busy road in a large village, over the past few weeks I have been home more due to home working starting up again. I used to get alerts from my lighting system that ‘living room had been triggered’ and thought it must be passing traffic, until I was sat down working today to see a neighbour stood scouring my whole living room (not seeing me due to positioning) then light sensor turned on (was off as I hadn’t moved)

I’ve had quite a few run ins with her about letting her dog foul outside my front door/drive, using my bins and trying to stop my Gardner trimming hedges. What do I do? 😩 last time I spoke to her she shouted at me on the street and threatened to report me for assault!

I’m living alone with two young children and hate the thought of her stood looking in my house

Where does she stand? Outside your garden or do you not have a garden so she's right outside your house?

Littlejayx · 07/01/2022 14:00

I have a small wall and pointless 3ft yard to the window so she’s walking past the front door into the pointless yard to stare in 😩

Shut the curtains!

Pottedpalm · 07/01/2022 14:02

Go out and ask her what she wants

Anordinarymum · 07/01/2022 14:03

Get blinds

MintJulia · 07/01/2022 14:03

Or put some reflective film up. She'll soon get bored

FourTeaFallOut · 07/01/2022 14:03

Put your hands on your hips and go stare her out.

Paddingtonthebear · 07/01/2022 14:04

I would position desk in front of window for a while. Then maybe get some blinds 😆

Littlejayx · 07/01/2022 14:06

I don’t want my house plants to suffer because she wants to stare in!

My brothrr has spoken to her about staring into my car when she was dropping something off before but her response was a few four word expletives

So she’s actually right outside your window within touching distance? Next time she does it stand up suddenly and scare the Shiite out of her, that should stop her. How weird though, maybe get a ring doorbell? She sounds very odd!

Level75 · 07/01/2022 14:07

I don't see why you should add blinds etc if you don't want them. Make a log of every time you see her and any run ins you have. It may be a one off any nothing further comes of it but if it's the start of harassment...

FluffyBooBoo · 07/01/2022 14:07

Put a little sign up, not in the window, but somewhere that once she's in position she'll be able to see, saying something like 'nosy!' or 'is my life really so interesting?' or 'i see you out there looking in'.

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 07/01/2022 14:09

I second the scare the crap out of her suggestions.

Nosy mare!

WizbitsLeftEye · 07/01/2022 14:13

Google, or search on Amazon, for "rabbitgoo" window film. It's reusable, the light gets through, but she can't see in. We use it because we are at street level, near the pavement and have that goldfish bowl experience.

Branleuse · 07/01/2022 14:14

Get up and wave at her

Branleuse · 07/01/2022 14:15

Play her at her own game. Make it as weird as possible, and see who gives up first

Littlejayx · 07/01/2022 14:15

Honestly it’s just surreal, I’ve just found my house alarm has a mobile activate option so next time I might just set the alarm off 🤷🏻‍♀️

Reflective window film, for sure!

Also possibly a sign saying 'Stop looking in my house, it's not that interesting' Grin

FlasherMcGruff · 07/01/2022 14:17

She sounds unhinged so you can’t reason with her. Perhaps stopping her from doing it altogether is the only way. Definitely install window film. It looks smart and won’t affect your levels of lighting and plants. It’s much nicer than net curtains and you can get cut out patterns that let you see out but people can’t see in. We have it in our hall as we have a glass front and people used to come right up to it and peer in. Shameless.

FlasherMcGruff · 07/01/2022 14:18

Setting the alarm off is a brilliant idea.

Yes! Do that. Every time!

Oh yes! 🤣
MsFogi · 07/01/2022 14:26

Could you pop upstairs whilst she's staring in and tip out the contents of your "Chamber pot" on her?

Littlejayx · 07/01/2022 14:26

Looking at my sensors it’s been happening about 3/4 times a week 🥺. I don’t have anything interesting to look at! Thinking about it my dog has been very interested in the area near the window recently so she must be looking when walking her dog 😩.

I'd go out and ask her what she wants.
