Woman across the street staring into my house

Littlejayx · 07/01/2022 13:57

I live on a busy road in a large village, over the past few weeks I have been home more due to home working starting up again. I used to get alerts from my lighting system that ‘living room had been triggered’ and thought it must be passing traffic, until I was sat down working today to see a neighbour stood scouring my whole living room (not seeing me due to positioning) then light sensor turned on (was off as I hadn’t moved)

I’ve had quite a few run ins with her about letting her dog foul outside my front door/drive, using my bins and trying to stop my Gardner trimming hedges. What do I do? 😩 last time I spoke to her she shouted at me on the street and threatened to report me for assault!

I’m living alone with two young children and hate the thought of her stood looking in my house

I'd get a selection of lifesize cardboard cut outs of famous people and stand them up staring back at her. Should make her jump a bit.

ThinWomansBrain · 07/01/2022 15:38

actioning the alarm is a good one, but don't you have some rugs that are a bit dusty that NEED to be shaken from the upstairs window, or a bucket to be empties?

MalbecandToast · 07/01/2022 15:38

Oh this would do my head in and I'd have to confront her but if you don't feel you want to do that then yes to the alarm. Every single time. And the reflective stuff is good, I have it on my kitchen windows and my sills are full of plants doing just fine Smile

whataballbag · 07/01/2022 15:39

I panicked then that this was about me. We've been in isolation since Boxing Day and I keep looking out of the window like a sad dog

BasketBlocks · 07/01/2022 15:39

Get a massive sign that says “F* OFF NOSEY” and put it up in your living room directly opposite the window.

Alternatively take a photo of her looking in your window, have it blown up to large size and printed and put that directly opposite the window, so when she looks in she sees herself looking back.

nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut · 07/01/2022 15:39

Do your kids have nerf guns? If so send them out to shoot her a few times. If the dog is loud and hyperactive, let him out to jump up at her. Preferably after a nice muddy walk.

Or just open the door and tell her to get the fuck off your property

MedusasBadHairDay · 07/01/2022 15:42

I'd say you need to get into a habit of lurking just next to the window while wearing a Halloween mask

MadeForThis · 07/01/2022 15:43

Get a Ring doorbell. You can shout "hello" every time she stands in your yard.

Lovemusic33 · 07/01/2022 15:43

Just hold a sign up to the window saying “f*ck off”? 😬

Yellow85 · 07/01/2022 15:45

Do you have a local Facebook page or the likes? I’d be tempted to play dumb and ask if anyone has notice a suspicious person staring in people homes in the village. Note that your camera has picked up suspicious movement but you can’t make out the person. Ham it up asking if you should call the police etc.

It’ll make neighbours alert and also might highlight to her you know?

CaMePlaitPas · 07/01/2022 15:45

Do a mooney OP.

EKGEMS · 07/01/2022 15:45

Consider getting a video camera like ring and contact police about her trespassing

JarvisCockersRightEyebrow · 07/01/2022 15:49

Call her a nosy old cockwomble like Kurtan! Grin sorry OP, no sensible suggestions, but this would fuck me off too! Maybe you could pop out and say ‘can I help you?’ next time.

BasketBlocks · 07/01/2022 15:52

What about a huge picture of a huge empty black void and then the caption “Your Soul”.

I’m getting into this now.

Chloemol · 07/01/2022 15:53

If she is coming onto your property that is trespass

I would be honest with her, tell her you have sensors and cameras that advise when someone has come onto your property

You can see she has actually looked into your house on a number of occasions so please stop coming into your yard or looking into your windows

The fact she now thinks you have cameras etc may stop her

However there is nothing to stop her looking in from the street so yes reflective film or nets are the way to go

EmoIsntDead · 07/01/2022 15:54

Alternatively take a photo of her looking in your window, have it blown up to large size and printed and put that directly opposite the window, so when she looks in she sees herself looking back

This would be fucking hilarious 🤣

Tara336 · 07/01/2022 15:57

We have nosy neighbours who like to watch our TV which is hung on the wall, they then started discussing what we watch with other neighbours and decided that DH must gamble because he regularly falls asleep in front of the TV and sometimes the late night casino programmes come on after whatever it was he was watching. They genuinely cannot see why we are pissed off with them!

underneaththeash · 07/01/2022 16:00

Just get a big torch and shine it back at her. Weirdo.

Put some porn on and go out for the night
BigYellowHat · 07/01/2022 16:03

You must be really interesting.

AgathaX · 07/01/2022 16:04

Do you think she might be standing there waiting for her dog to have a pee? If not, I agree with others, get some film up at your window if setting the alarm off doesn't stop her.

Nosy fucker!

BlissfullyIgnorant · 07/01/2022 16:04

OP, can you get Ring or Blink so when she turns up on your frontage you can shout at her, "Can I HELP You?"
Then post a still of the image on NextDoor asking if anyone has seen a peeping Thomasina in the area

MajesticElephant · 07/01/2022 16:05

Is she on your property when doing this? If yes, cease and desist letter for trespass - your home insurance legal cover will be able to help.

Wombat43 · 07/01/2022 16:19

I've put translucent film up on my windows. It was to stop the dogs woofing at passing people but judging by the comments people have made since, it's also stopped people looking in...

It's actually really nice and doesn't stop the light, just makes the lower part of the window opaque.

Mummy10197 · 07/01/2022 16:20

I wouldn’t class going on Love Island and being thrown hundreds of brand deals ‘working my ase off’. People who work every hour under the sun just to make sure there’s bread on the table for their kids work their ase off. Not being offered £1 million deal to put some clothes on and get photos. So so out of touch with the real world, it’s sad
