To want to knock her lights out?

Hi,

I've nc'ed to be anon with this.

I'm quite upset because this note was stuck to our door overnight.

A bit of background. We've moved into this privately rented flat about 4 years ago, when our daughter was only 1. She is now 5. We have just had our second (and last) over Christmas. Like all newborns, she cries at night sometimes. She isn't too bad to be honest, at least we didn't think she was. Our oldest did cry a lot.

We get along with most people who live here. We're generally quiet and private as is all the other residents. Over 50% of them are elderly, though this isn't a retirement block of flats. We're the youngest, but there are others not much older then us.

We don't know who left the note. It is obviously unsigned. We have our suspicions but that's all. If they had knocked on the door and spoken to us, that wouldn't be a problem.

For their own sake, they better hope I don't find out who it is. I'm furious. It's horrid. The residents we've spoken to over the last few days have said how lovely she is but no noise complaints. Our immediate neighbours and the lady directly below are nice people so I don't think it's them.

I'm not sure what else I can really do about this. I had to vent my anger somewhere, sorry. My partner is angry but also found it amusing.

To want to knock her lights out?

I would leave it on the door as if I hadn't seen it and go about my day to day life . How annoying would that be for the author of such an unpleasant note.

Sportslady44 · 08/01/2022 16:33

please ignore it you dont have to respond.

No response is a response and far easier.

Just get on with your life

if it happens again you could think about some action but why react.

Their note was aggressive and your heading for the post is aggressive just ignore honestly.

@mbosnz

I'd leave a return note on the door, with a baby's dummy attached.

To Brave Anonymous Kind Regards,

Baby says she's done with this, and you can have it, for when you next have to spit the dummy.

Cheers.

Love it!

@AngryMumOfTwo

I agree polite is best, but too bad you couldn’t sign it: “With love, The Breeders” 😂

NeverChange · 10/01/2022 03:04

Don't involve the other neighbours as it's not fair and it appears to be only one who has the issue.

I would leave a photocopy on your door only.
Perhaps you could respond as follows.

Dear anonymous, we appreciate your note as much as you appreciate the baby crying. Kind Regards, two tired parents just trying to do their best.

SoupDragon · 10/01/2022 07:41

I would leave a photocopy on your door only.

Thus involving every neighbour that walks past 🤷🏻‍♀️

HappyDays40 · 10/01/2022 07:42

I'd just keep inviting friends round with babies just to spite them. Horrible person.

AngryMumOfTwo · 10/01/2022 17:44

Potentially an update.... So I was coming home after doing some shopping today. I passed another resident as I was about to get in the lift. I said "hi", as I normally do to anyone I see in the building. He didn't reply, instead giving me dirty look.

I've never said anything more then hi to him in the past. He's a resident who I've seen a few times but we've never really spoken. Ordinarily he would say "hello" back. I was a bit confused as I made my way into the lift and then it suddenly hit me. What if it was him? Or his wife/girlfriend?

He's probably mid to late 40's. Same as his partner. I don't know if they're married. I know his name is Kevin from when parcels have been delivered but left downstairs. I wouldn't have a clue as to his partners name, as we don't really speak. He lives below me, but next door, if that makes sense. I haven't a clue if he has kids.

It might not be them of course. It was just strange that a few days later, he reacts to me like that. Again, he is normally polite. Perhaps it's unrelated and he was just in a bad mood?

If "Kevin" has a teenage child, which he would be the right age for, then you probably have your answer.

MzHz · 10/01/2022 18:48

We never know what is going on in the lives of others, could be him, he might have had a really bad day

Time will tell

acatcalledjohn · 10/01/2022 20:52

You mean if Kevin is a teenage child.

ReadySteadyTwins · 11/01/2022 15:57

Well, no. OP knows he's mid 40s.

But what she doesn't know is if he has children. And at mid 40s that puts him at a pretty standard age for teen DC.

acatcalledjohn · 11/01/2022 16:52

If Kevin is the culprit, he is the teenager in behaviour, with his behaviour being no better than Kevin from Kevin & Perry.

Pixies74 · 11/01/2022 17:00

I think it looks like male handwriting, not elderly but not necessarily a teenager. I'm late 30s and know several males around the same age with very similar handwriting.

Tape the original message and your response on the main entrance front door so Everyone can see both letters.

@AngryMumOfTwo Did you ever discover who it was, OP?
