SIL gone to panto when waiting for PCR result - oh yes she did!

Name changed as I’ve been slated on here before for not allowing my SIL to do as she pleases.

Today I thought we’d made a positive turn as she has taken my older son and hers to the pantomime as I’ve got a broken leg (though she has made a big thing about helping out).

Unfortunately she’s just text me to say “BTW I’ve had a positive lateral and waiting on my PCR but decided to take the boys anyway as xxx (her son) was looking forward to it, I’m sure that’s fine”.

In which universe is that fine?? She’s risking not just my son, but the others she’s gone with and the whole audience!! She is very jealous if people do social things without her but surely there comes a time when sense is more important than FOMO?? I’m assuming she waited till she was there to tell me so I couldn’t do anything.

Husband says I’m being unreasonable for being annoyed as the rules aren’t clear cut and she hasn’t had the PCR test back.

AIBU for wanting to ban her as she’s so irresponsible and only really cares about herself?

Some offer private ambulance and "urgent care" so if you break a bone for example they will treat you but if you need life saving treatment you will be transferred to an NHS hospital (and presumably join the queue). Several private insurers make it plain on their web pages that you should ring 999 in cases of serious accident and life threatening incidents. I was thinking specifically of that, following on from the heart attack posts.

@MrsBerthaRochester

Happy new year all!! Sayed javid says we have to "learn to live with covid" most sensible comment an mp said since this started. Heres to a 2022 with no restrictions and back to living.
Javid is a businessman. Health has never been a priority for him.

In 2018 DH had to wait 1.5-2 hours for an ambulance, Saturday afternoon, after dislocating his shoulder. I started to drive him finally but then ambulance passed us & we scurried back to get him inside -- he was that desperate for pain relief. He had 5 types of pain relief (*) before reaching a&e where they relocated shoulder within ? 45 minutes? of arrival (so I think they saw him as priority).

(*) said that only gas & air helped, morphine, paracetomol, 2 others - didn't touch it.

It's Sajid Javid, not Sayed!

MrsBerthaRochester · 01/01/2022 23:36

Yeah lets focus on that fact rather than the fact the government are hopefully realising its time to stop obsessing over covid. No more restrictions!!!!

youvegottenminuteslynn · 01/01/2022 23:50

I'm not focusing on that fact alone, it's just been a bit odd seeing his name with an incorrect spelling so many times on here that's all. You seem determined to be argumentative in general on this thread so I'm bowing out!

Well, it helps to give you some credibility in a debate if you can get people's names right.

She was stupid. Her +LFT should have been her cue to stay home. She's been with loads on unvaccinated people so will have spread her omicron love.
A positive LFT means positive PCR 99% of the time.
Your DC prob now has it OP.
It's highly contagious even if mild.
High school DC will all be tested next week.., but no doubt she won't bother testing her dc either.
No point testing if you ignore the results..,
