tat from B&M for christmas

This didn't happen today but I've been feeling somewhat unreasonably cross at DP for about a week now as I know I'm being ungreatful, some people get nothing. I didn't know the bags in the hall were for christmas so I had a peek to see where things go to put it away, but as they appeared to be gifts I didn't touch them. DP had just come back from B&M and was in bed with netflix. DP later tells me not to look in the bags as they're presents from me. They are cheap, and unthoughtful gifts ie low end chocolates, cheap shower products that will make me itch (he knows I've got sensitive skin) And I'd rather he hadn't got me anything at all as I get chocolate every other week anyway in the main supermarket shop. I'm not sure what the purpose of this thread is other than complaining but I suppose you lot can use this thread for complaining about tat from B&M. And for the record the presents I got for him were well thought out and expensive

Hi all. We've removed some guideline breaking personal attacks from this thread so hopefully things will get back on track now.
Please do report if things take a turn for the worse and we'll drop by again.
All the best,

I'll start by saying I love b&m, got loads of good stuff for the house and garden there. But yeah, his gifts are thoughtless and I'd be a bit pissed, esp at the shower gifts when he knows you have sensitive skin.

God I know where you are coming from.
My mum shops in b&m and home bargains weekly.
Every year I tell her what I want for Xmas which is reasonable in price and something I actually like and every year without fail I get a Santa sack just full of random
Stuff from those two shops. Think t towels, candles, sweets, and random
Bits of home decor stuff.
I’ve told her time and time again I don’t like stuff cluttering the house.
I would much prefer a lush bath bomb gift set or a voucher or something I actually want or need.
She never listens. It does my head in.
My fave chocs are ferrero Roche and ever since childhood I’ve had some as a gift and now she tells me they are too expensive now so she’s got me Lindors instead, I don’t even like lindors. I mean if money was tight fine, but they buy so much other tat I don’t want or need I would quite happily just settle for a box of ferrero.

She sounds just like my mum. She asked me what I wanted, I told her 3 items I would like (around £10 each) linked to my hobby but she has bought me a box full of tat and food which I won’t eat, including lindor chocolates, fudge and a mug. I would also be happy with a lush gift set but my mum doesn’t know how to shop anywhere else and refuses to online shop. Wilkonsons used to be her favourite place until B&M came along 🤣

This is bonkers. Is she controlling in other ways too? She obviously gives those gifts to make herself feel good, they've got nothing to do with what you want (as what you want is actually simpler/cheaper).

When the giver has been told time and again that you'd rather have something simpler/cheaper, but to your own taste, continuing to do this is just aggressive, controlling behaviour dressed up as kindness.

I'm pleased to announce that after all, they weren't my main gifts. My main gifts were watercolours! I didn't get much and most of it was tat as mentioned in my OP but I'm not too disappointed anymore.

Plot twist: the watercolours were from The Works Xmas Grin

Happy Christmas OP

@lonlydomassiveones
Sorry loving partner, as you have purchased some of my Christmas gifts from b&m we need to break up.
I'm too good for that, because a loving relationship is about where you buy my presents from and what you get me after all.
