To ask - If you could only have THREE veg on your Christmas dinner?

goldenoldie1 · 19/12/2021 22:17

Top three options if that was the limit for Xmas dinner?

Mine is probably parsnips, nice carrots and broccoli.

I know I'm going to change my mind when I see other responses.

swede, savoy and peas

RincewindsHat · 20/12/2021 16:13

Maple-mustard roasted carrot & parsnips (it's one dish so it counts as one veg!!)
Leeks
Sweetcorn

itssquidstella · 20/12/2021 16:14

Excluding roast potatoes?

Roast carrots
Pan fried sprouts (with pancetta and chestnuts)
Tender stem broccoli

itssquidstella · 20/12/2021 16:15

Oh gosh actually, swap the broccoli for red cabbage!

GoodnightGrandma · 20/12/2021 16:16

Sprouts, carrot batons and roast parsnips.

snowone · 20/12/2021 16:23

Sprouts
Carrots
Cauliflower cheese 😊

Etherealhedgehog · 20/12/2021 16:35

Ok, if excluding potatoes then red cabbage, some fancy sprout concoction involving bacon and roast parsnips

AryaStarkWolf · 20/12/2021 16:36

Sprouts, carrots & Cauliflower

RavingAnnie · 20/12/2021 16:44

Roast potatoes

Red cabbage

Parsnips in mustard and honey.

kittykarate · 20/12/2021 16:47

Mushy peas
Carrots
Roast potatoes.

Sn0tnose · 20/12/2021 16:47

If we’re including potato, then roast, mash and sprouts.

If we’re excluding potato then sprouts, peas and sweetcorn (which definitely belongs on a roast dinner).

TuftyMarmoset · 20/12/2021 16:49

Probably sprouts, red cabbage and carrots, but I would be mourning peas and cauliflower!

StrongerThanA90sTrend · 20/12/2021 16:57

Spring greens
Carrots
....
I don't like sprouts or parsnips. Can't think of any other veg. Except roasties.

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 20/12/2021 17:05

Roasted potatoes, Sprouts, maybe a bit of mashed swede/turnip

Can't stand carrots and parsnip, so I'd be perfectly happy with just potatoes and sprouts tbh.

User00000000 · 20/12/2021 17:07

Parsnips
Carrots
Sprouts

Tink626 · 20/12/2021 17:11

Not counting Roast Potatoes

Peas
Cauliflower Cheese
Red Cabbage

That's actually all I normally have anyway. I cook carrots and brussels but don't eat them until Boxing Day in Bubble and Squeak.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 20/12/2021 17:17

Roast parsnips, braised red cabbage, and sprouts (with chestnuts).

Ninananna · 20/12/2021 17:19

Sprouts, carrots and lots of roast potatoes.

DuesToTheDirt · 20/12/2021 17:21

Honey roast parsnips (DD's favourite) and sprouts are obligatory for us. Anything else is optional.

We only even do max 3 veg + potatoes, so the third might be red cabbage. Or we might do stuffing instead. There are only four of us, so no need for 15 kinds of veg. And definitely no cauliflower cheese or sweetcorn with Christmas dinner.

Fourmagpies · 20/12/2021 17:22

Sprouts
Red cabbage
Roast parsnips

Hunderland · 20/12/2021 17:27

Assuming roast potatoes are already on the plate then

Cauli cheese
Peas
Sprouts

😋😋

SiobhanSharpe · 20/12/2021 17:39

We're having roast rib of beef so as well as roast spuds and Yorkshires our veg will be roasted carrots and parsnips (maple syrup may be involved) and green cabbage with bacon pieces and caraway seeds.
Plus fresh horseradish sauce.

Liverbird77 · 20/12/2021 17:39

Sprouts (with pancetta and chestnuts), red cabbage and roast potatoes. Exactly what we are having!

MajesticWhine · 20/12/2021 17:39

Sprouts
Carrots
Red cabbage

You can keep your parsnips

SandrasAnnoyingFriend · 20/12/2021 17:41

Red cabbage
Sprouts
Honey roast parsnips and carrots (slight cheat, would drop carrots if I had to)
