To ask - If you could only have THREE veg on your Christmas dinner?

Top three options if that was the limit for Xmas dinner?

Mine is probably parsnips, nice carrots and broccoli.

I know I'm going to change my mind when I see other responses.

Cauliflower
Sprouts
Mashed swede

I was going to say sweetcorn but I know that's frowned upon on MN roast dinners!

tangyandsalty · 19/12/2021 22:24

Potatoes aren't a veg, so they can be extra.
Sprouts (shredded and stir fried with bacon)
Braised red cabbage
Cauliflower cheese

RustyBear · 19/12/2021 22:24

Roast peppers, courgettes and onions

Darbs76 · 19/12/2021 22:24

Potatoes, parsnips, sprouts

PickAChew · 19/12/2021 22:25

Carrots, sprouts, spiced red cabbage.

HalloHello · 19/12/2021 22:25

Potatoes don't count! And ONION?? Sorry what!!

Shredded Brussel sprouts fried in butter
Roast parsnips
Mashed carrots and neeps

bluechameleon · 19/12/2021 22:25

Sprouts, roast carrots, red cabbage

PinkTonic · 19/12/2021 22:26

Roast potatoes don’t count as veg obviously. The OP hasn’t included them but I’m sure they’re a given. Personally I don’t count parsnips either because they’re roasted and go in the serving bowl with the potatoes. So sprouts, glazed baby carrots and red cabbage.

HalloHello · 19/12/2021 22:26

@RustyBear

Roast peppers, courgettes and onions
I'm sorry but what fresh hell is this
HippeePrincess · 19/12/2021 22:26

Red cabbage
Cauliflower Cheese
Honey and mustard glazed parsnips

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 19/12/2021 22:26

Maple roasted parsnips & Carrots, Cauliflower Cheese, Rosemary & Garlic roast potatoes.

MojoJojo71 · 19/12/2021 22:26

If roast potatoes don’t count then

Mashed turnip (actually it’s swede but that not what we call it here)
sprouts
Broccoli

StillMedusa · 19/12/2021 22:26

Roast parsnips
Roast Carrots
Sprouts

dementedma · 19/12/2021 22:26

Red cabbage
Parsnips
Sprouts

goldenoldie1 · 19/12/2021 22:26

@Largethighsbadeyes

Not counting potatoes

Sprouts
Mashed Carrot and swede (counting that as 1)
Roast parsnips

Also, what are"nice carrots"? Hmm

Chantenay carrots. Just meant not your usual carrot cut into batons.

Roast potatoes, roast carrots and sprouts. Unless my leek and walnut veggie stuffing balls count, in which case ditch the carrots.

gukvguk · 19/12/2021 22:27

Sprouts
Parsnips
Peas

FortunesFave · 19/12/2021 22:27

Excluding potato then.....sprouts, parsnips and cabbage.

thegcatsmother · 19/12/2021 22:28

Chantilly carrots, peas with bacon and onions and sprouts with chestnuts, bacon and Marsala. Royalties are pure footrest and crunch, so not veg. Red cabbage is for Christmas Eve with the glazed ham.

Immaculatemisconception · 19/12/2021 22:28

Sprouts
Carrots
Peas

Mahmoh · 19/12/2021 22:28

Red cabbage, stringless beans, honey roasted carrots. Obviously roast potatoes are essential too but I'm not counting those as a vegetable.

Lovelydovey · 19/12/2021 22:29

Broccoli
Mashed swede and carrot
Braised Savoy cabbage

AnotherMansCause · 19/12/2021 22:30

Sprouts
Parsnips
Baby carrots

Sparklingbrook · 19/12/2021 22:30

Definitely posh carrots not the sort you would dice and bung in a Cottage Pie.

RightOnTheEdge · 19/12/2021 22:30

Carrots, peas and sprouts
