To have opened the door

Went to a restaurant this eve, was busier than I expected and all tables were randomly put together to form 2 king table so we were sat next to total strangers… wasn’t expecting that. So I opened up the door near us to get some fresh air in, checked with waitress they agreed. A lady went and closed it, so I opened it again and then she closed it again… so I opened it!

@WorraLiberty

Well fresh air is key and reduces viral load!

If I was sat on a table with my own family and other tables spaced out then no I wouldn’t have… would have liked to but wouldn’t.

Maybe I’ll avoid restaurants for a while

@aprilanne

Jesus imagine thinking it's funny ruining folks night that they paid for .because you wanted the door open you obviously were bothered or you wouldn't have insisted on opening the dam door .you didn't save anyone Christmas. Just imagine the reviews having a pleasant night until some twat obviously scared of covid decided to freeze us ..and we had to pay for experience wont be back .1 star rating yeah you really helped restaurant there .
If you want to sit in a draft then eat outside or go home. Don't spoil other people's evening with your silly behaviour.

But you're all breathing the same air in the restaurant, so the table proximity isn't the be all and end all Confused

At least be consistent about your door fetish! Grin

I’m not particularly scared… maybe I’ve just saved everyone’s Christmas in there 😂[/quote]
Or you've ruined the experience of people who've saved up for a Christmas night out. So you could be the righteous covid monitor.

SuckIt · 19/12/2021 21:29

@Merryoldgoat

If you’re so desperate for fresh air don’t go to a fucking restaurant in the middle of winter.
This.
Riverlee · 19/12/2021 21:29

Saw an advert on tv earlier, where they encouraged you to open windows etc to help reduce the spread of covid.

SleighbellsZ · 19/12/2021 21:30

I would of closed the door too, it's freezing.

Take it you didn't ask tables around you?

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 19/12/2021 21:31

@Riverlee

Yup seems obvious to me. Get to my parents house and I open the windows…

The restaurants will be glad if onceaponarainbow 18
stays in save them having to get bad reviews from frozen customers

Inastatus · 19/12/2021 21:32

YABVU - stay at home if you are that worried, don’t ruin other people’s evenings.

Yes, because our stupid government keep making out like you can't catch covid outside.
OnceuponaRainbow18 · 19/12/2021 21:33

@Hope478

It’s very low risk outside if not crammed together

OP posts:
EmmaWoodhousestreehouse · 19/12/2021 21:34

Totally selfish opening the door. Why would anyone want to sit in the cold and eat their tea. You should have bought a chippy tea and sat outside if that’s what you wanted. I’d have got up and closed the door too.

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 19/12/2021 21:35

Well 45% so far agree with doorgate! Maybe the ones who don’t agree are more vocal.

But going forth I’ll avoid restaurants!

OP posts:
BoredZelda · 19/12/2021 21:35

Surely if you are that bothered about Covid you would get take away and stay home?

There is whole sliding scale between “stay at home” and “go out and don’t give a shit about covid”

No wonder we’re in such a mess if people can’t understand the simple mitigations we can put in place to reduce the risk.

BoredZelda · 19/12/2021 21:36

Why would anyone want to sit in the cold and eat their tea.

Have you read the guidance on ventilation?

Hope478 · 19/12/2021 21:36

Then go there instead of a restaurant

aprilanne · 19/12/2021 21:36

Well stay outside then save other folk from freezing.

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 19/12/2021 21:36

@BoredZelda

Couldn’t agree more

There are guidelines about ventilation but it doesn't mean that that ventilation should be controlled by one diner and should be opening a door in December.
Sparklingbrook · 19/12/2021 21:40

I don't know why you are asking OP as you clearly don't think you were being unreasonable anyway.

Merryoldgoat · 19/12/2021 21:40

It’s one thing to go into a restaurant, or choose a restaurant where windows and doors are open on arrival and seats are distanced.

It’s quite another to go into one that hasn’t taken any mitigation and decide wholesale to open the doors in December.

No one has to eat out. I love eating out. But I’m vulnerable, don’t like the cold and therefore have chosen not to eat out for now.

Iamanicepersonreally · 19/12/2021 21:42

It would have been politically to ask the other diners

MarleneDietrichsSmile · 19/12/2021 21:42

I’ve been to a few restaurants recently

It’s not the norm to have doors and windows open

You made it unpleasant for everyone, because you thought your comfort (ie managing your fear of Covid) was more important than everyone else’s comfort

People who are that scared should simply not go to restaurants

Please stay at home
