To have opened the door

Went to a restaurant this eve, was busier than I expected and all tables were randomly put together to form 2 king table so we were sat next to total strangers… wasn’t expecting that. So I opened up the door near us to get some fresh air in, checked with waitress they agreed. A lady went and closed it, so I opened it again and then she closed it again… so I opened it!

Anyway @VainAbigail who won the open door shut door situation, or did it continue your whole meal?

VainAbigail · 22/12/2021 17:48

@Offmyfence

it’s not my thread!

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 22/12/2021 17:59

@Offmyfence

Pretty sure I won!

Well eating out tonight and booked an outside table under a heater!

Which is what you should have done in the first place.

@AllThingsServeTheBeam

Well I assumed there would be some safety measures put into place… but I guess that’s why over 100k are testing positive at the moment

Having a door wide open in the middle of December is not a good safety measure. What do you do in a theatre or cinema? Don't be so daft.

Meatshake · 22/12/2021 19:47

Maybe next time stick to takeaway?

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 22/12/2021 19:48

@AllThingsServeTheBeam

Well I’ve not been going to those things. And as I said was about 1/3 ajar!

I recommend not going to anywhere indoors until you feel like you can be there with the door shut.

There is no way I'd have sat there with the door open and wouldn't expect to being INSIDE in December

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 22/12/2021 19:56

@AllThingsServeTheBeam

Well my 5 GCSE and A’level classes may suffer if I did that!

So you're used to the daft bloody door open rule. Not everyone is. Restaurants don't need to implement it.

My children has been looking forward to it all day and as I said before we sat down I asked the waitress, who agreed. So in my mind problemo solves[/quote]
So what are you posting about it on here for then?

BirdyBirdyTweetTweet · 22/12/2021 20:30

It's absolutely Arctic today (ok slight exaggeration) and I'm not sure I'd have been happy to eat in with the door open. It would have spoiled the evening for me.

traka · 23/12/2021 00:02

You were bothered enough about covid to open a door but you weren't that bothered to have not gone

Very odd

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 23/12/2021 07:50

@traka

Not odd at all, happy to go places where there’s some safety precautions in place, such as ventilation. How’s that odd?

We’ve been going about our daily lives as normally as possible, just making sure it’s safe as can be.

Blimey is this still going on? It'll be Summer soon and those doors will be open anyway.
Or will it be the thing to be closing doors in the summer?

CuntAmongstThePigeons · 23/12/2021 08:49

Bloody hell is this still going. Jesus. Yes, yes you were very unreasonable to ruin everyone else in the restaurants meal by making them sit in the cold, inside, at a meal they've paid for in December.

Also mortifyingly embarrassing that you engaged in a children's game of open/shut with the other woman. I bet your kids were pleased.

Seriously though how about you don't go out for meals if you're that worried about covid you have to ruin everyone else in the restaurants meal.

I've eaten out a couple of times a week during the pandemic when able and I can tell you now in not one of the restaurants I've been to has a door been left open in Dec.

Are you a teacher, you should've mentioned it 🙄!

How many more times are you going to tell us how hard you've worked throughout the pandemic. Lots of other professions have as well!

Excellent! At least you've realised it's unreasonable to impose your requests on others! I thought you might insist all restaurants follow your rules! But you've accepted and moved outside. Wrap up warm, it's a chilly night!

Every office I walk into at work I open a window, as that’s the policy. Touch wood I am yet to get covid and that’s whilst teaching in a school of 2000 kids! Fresh air is key, and reduced the viral
Load

How many offices do you walk into if you teach. Do you mean classrooms and because you work in a school aren’t your pupils a captive audience who can’t complain of the cold.

Chilly or freezing they both mean cold and having a door open whether it os an inch or a foot is still going to make it cold

Restaurants are closing because people are not going out not because of any rulings by the government. I certainly wouldn’t return to a restaurant that was even the least bit chilly/cold/freezing which ever word you would like to use as it spoils the meal out.
If anything you could have done more harm to the restaurant than Covid could. People eat out for the enjoyable experience, not to sit in the cold

I think because you clearly eat out regularly you have forgotten that for a lot of people it is a special night out that has been planned for and saved for and won’t happen again for a long time and you insisting the door remained open probably spoiled it.

I doubt there will be any lockdowns because despite the predictable doom and gloom forecasts by SAGE it as usual is completely wrong.
Yes infections are huge but only a small fraction of what was predicted. It isn’t translating into the death rate of the beginning of the year. 600-6000 deaths we should be seeing around now and 2 million per day infected according to SAGE.
At that rate we would have got rid of Covid in this country by mid January.
More people infected over a short period of time = more people immune for 6 months.
If most people have had it then the virus has nowhere to go.
