Why do we have to age! Depressing watching The new SATC *[Message from MNHQ: there are spoilers on this thread]

Has anyone seen the new series yet? Well, first two episodes?
Just felt a bit low watching it 🤷🏻‍♀️Eurgh, why do we have to age!

They said she’d moved to London for work @User42729209, after falling out with Carrie when she ended their professional relationship. But the wider storyline meant it would be strange to not mention the absence - she sent flowers to the funeral when Carrie had requested no flowers, but she decided to keep them when she saw they were from Samantha.

Oh god it was terrible wasn’t it! But not because they’re aging. I think SJP and Cynthia Nixon look great. Kristin Davis maybe not so much.

But they’ve made Miranda this terrible bumbling idiot! Like she hasn’t lived her whole life in NYC as a top lawyer but now suddenly can’t string a sentence together while talking to an African American woman. And they’re definitely dumbing Steve down to set up Miranda to have an affair or some sort of relationship with Carrie’s podcast boss.

And Carrie not calling an ambulance, come on. I know it’s a show but ugh.

And they’ve given her a drink problem.

Yeah I she'd a tear or two I wasn't expecting Big's death. Charlottes face looks odd but I guess that fits with her striving for perfection character and fighting aging with tips n tucks. The Samantha thing could have been better explained I think but I didn't think it was that bad.

Worst bit for me was what they have done to to Steve, just so weird. I guess it's to set up for a story line for Miranda falling for someone else? If it's bizarre. You can having hearing loss and still be how you were, mostly.

Woe just watched the 1st 2 episodes after reading this thread. Why did they do Samantha dirty like that? Couldn't just celebrate a woman having an amazing new job and fake some phonecalls or texts?

It's not as bad as the movies but it's not great, I think it should have been left alone personally, the masterbation scene was weird as fuck!

Over the years the press has printed some very derogatory photos of Cynthia Nixon but she is the only one who now looks normal. She also looks the youngest

The other 2 sadly have aged incredibly due to their extensive surgery/fillers/who knows what

It is just common courtesy I think. Some people are courteous, some are not I guess.

YABU for criticising women’s looks and for no spoiler warning! (Personally I enjoy spoilers but many don’t).

Not watched SATC since the first film which was full of horrible stereotypes, eg the Mexico stuff. The show had ‘jumped the shark’.

And since then Kim Cattrall has left and alleged mistreatment, and she was fantastic in the show, don’t want to watch it without her!

Would love to see the clothes though!

Well I’m probably going to be the only one but I enjoyed it. I think it’s going to be really interesting seeing how they tackle the topics faced by women as they get older and I’m excited for all the clothes. I’m hoping there will be more light hearted pieces in it and laughs as that was what I loved in the original series. I think they will miss Samantha for those as she seemed the source of most of those lighter moments. I agree I thought there were a few noted digs at Kim and the strained relationship she had with SJP. Ouch. Did anyone else spot Miranda’s drinking habit? I also liked the new characters especially the podcast host.

I’m hoping it will warm up. I loved the original. I miss Samantha but there’s still enough good stuff there for it it improve. I agree about calling an ambulance?!

Op clearly said 'new SATC' in the title. Its a bit daft to click on a thread discussing it if you haven't seen it yet.
To me it read it would be about women ageing not the actual tv show. Im not actually that fussed myself but others probably will be.

Bloody hell! I've got no intention of watching it. I feel I've grown up and moved on from being entertained by fluff like SATC and I think it's slightly desperate of the cast to do it. But even I know what the big spoiler is - it's been "out" for weeks. Some of you are being completely unreasonable about reading spoilers on a thread discussing the friffing show!

There were moments in the series when Miranda was a bit awkward (seeing Steve & aiden out drinking with their girlfriends, dropping the food she was going to cook for Steve) and I can see how at the moment it can be so easy to offend/say the wrong thing.

Just changing the subject slightly but can some one tell me why everyone is so pro KC over SJP? I’m confused as if SJP was as bad and horrible as KC makes out why does SJP have everyone coming out in support of her. I don’t follow the gossip mags so May have missed something but clearly they had a falling out…..I’m just unsure why everyone is convinced it was SJPs doing when everyone speaks in support of her.

Oh but on the actual point, I don't think ageing is depressing. It's a natural process, it's a new stage that brings challenges but also possibly more self confidence as you get the maturity to realise what bullshit the beauty industry is, hopefully more financial stability, more freedom as kids get older, more freedom to assert your own preferences and say no to things and people you don't fancy seeing / doing. I've never seen the point in raging against something inevitable. See the positives.
