Has anyone seen the new series yet? Well, first two episodes?
Just felt a bit low watching it 🤷🏻‍♀️Eurgh, why do we have to age!

OP posts:
Muchuseaschocolateteapot · 10/12/2021 10:42

Just watched the first episode. Okay it definitely misses Samantha but I enjoyed seeing them all again. Love Miranda but she’s definitely being set up for a relationship with Che. Not a big fan of SJP but I think she looks good. I enjoyed it!

BrightYellowDaffodil · 10/12/2021 10:51

I bloody loved SATC (well, not so much when it became a juggernaut at the end, more at the beginning when it felt ground-breaking as the first time I'd seen women talking openly about sex on TV). I was really looking forward to AJLT but my expectations have been truly managed by this thread and the Graun's review yesterday - still, that's probably a good thing as it won't be as bad as I'd feared Grin

RocketPanda · 10/12/2021 10:51

The thing about Samantha has echoes of an exchange between KC and SJP following KC brothers death.
Eldest DD has met KC and said she was so nice and reserved.

Starcup · 10/12/2021 10:56

Is it a new series?

What was the dog at Kim?

milkyaqua · 10/12/2021 11:02

@SirSamuelVimes

Oh well in that case, I'm going to imagine that Samantha got to London, met some actual normal people, realised that Carrie was an annoying selfish twunt and a bad friend and that she could have much more fun with her new English mates! Grin Perhaps she could end up with a late in life marriage to a Marquis or something, that'd really piss off Carrie et al. I can totally imagine Samantha hosting wildly hedonistic parties at some grand old country estate.

I'd much rather watch that series!

That would be marvellous - with outfits styled by Patricia Field, who has said she would love to do a series with KC.

@KirstenBlest

Isn't the question 'Why can't we age?'

I have grey hair and wrinkles. I am not in my 30s anymore

Having watched the trailer, I feel like I want to embrace the fact that I look my age

Exactly.

@Floundery

I bet Kim Cattrall is pissing herself laughing at how awful it is and glad not to be in it

This. It was bloody dire.

Definitely! Esp Carrie asking Big if she can watch him jerk off. Cringe max. I fast forwarded that bit.

From what I've read, it seems Samantha was let go as Carrie's publicist and went to London, and someone said "Sexy 60somethings are still viable over there."

Nice. Really professional, really age-positive and really in keeping with the female friendship element that was what really carried the show.

ArabeI · 10/12/2021 11:17

I was looking forward to watching it until I read a couple of reviews; essentially echoing what's been said here. I possibly will still watch it though the Big spoiler was a surprise!

@DrSbaitso

Ah thanks for that. Ohh that’s quite catty isn’t it to say that.

fedup65356 · 10/12/2021 11:19

It's definitely not the same without Samantha!

Charlotte is still just as irritating as before.

I don't think I'll be watching anymore.

Emerald5hamrock · 10/12/2021 11:23

Aging is natural, whatever they're trying to achieve or hang onto is not.
My 41 year old face looks better than half the 25 year olds with filler and botox who all look like sisters.

SamDees · 10/12/2021 11:26

God I thought it was absolutely terrible!

The script was leaden and that scene at the podcast was horrific - did they have a bingo card for the most woke phrases per
minute?
The masturbation scene with Big made me cringe myself inside out. He's one of the sexiest men on the planet and you get him doing THAT??? 🤮

GreenClock · 10/12/2021 11:28

It’s try-hard woke and the masturbation scene was cringeworthy. But …. I kept watching. I love Stanford and Anthony. I like the chemistry between the three leads. I like the husbands (including Chris Noth, who IMO has a real rapport with SJP). I sense that there is going to be a shock for Carrie amongst Big’s papers (Gloria referred to them for a reason I think) which could make for an interesting storyline.

The Natasha actor was seen on set so I’m curious about that.

It did make me think about ageing, yes. The fact that Big died at 65ish , Bitzy’s comment about her husband’s covid death. But their looks didn’t concern me. Their appearances are as expected, men and women alike.

Practicebeingpatient · 10/12/2021 11:30

I haven't watched it because I didn't like it first time round and doubt it will have improved with age - unlike myself! But I don't mind aging at all. Of course I look older and am less strong/flexible than I was 30 years ago but for my age (60) I'm doing pretty well. My looks weren't the most important thing about me when I was young and they still aren't.

I'm already older than my dad was when he died and I'm very grateful for it.

Join me in imagining Samantha's much more awesome life instead, way more fun. Grin

This is her new place, where she lives with the Marquis of Sexham, in a thoroughly hedonistic (open) marriage. When she isn't jetting off the the Chateau in the house of France or off to Moscow to drink vodka with Russian oligarchs, that is. Or sitting front row at Paris fashion week. Or generally just awesoming about.

This is the series we all deserve

Postdatedpandemic · 10/12/2021 11:37

Samantha decides her life has become a little frivolous and takes the newly available PR position in Downing St

MimiDaisy11 · 10/12/2021 11:39

Oh now I want to see the Samantha spin off series!

Grin

From which position, she is enlisted into a matter concerning national security working undercover with a mysterious spook played by Timothy Dalton.

44PumpLane · 10/12/2021 11:40

Watched both episodes last night, it was shit but I will clearly keep watching to enjoy the horror!

Podcast scene.... Cringe!

Miranda being a bumbling twat.... Cringe!

Carrie being unable to call 911 or do anything at all useful to help her dying husband other than fanny about in the shower..... Ridiculous.

References to Samantha's character annoyed me, Samantha was clearly the best character and her absence could have been handled so much better-I agree a series about Samantha would have been so much better!

The bit where Carrie asks Big about masturbating, seriously are we meant to believe that this has never been asked or come up before, the premise of the first round of SATC was about how they were all powerful and forward and enlightened women and she's never once discussed wanking with her husband..... It was all too weird.

Love it!

Samantha quickly finds herself drawn into the world of international espionage 😂

Justme10 · 10/12/2021 11:50

I've just finished the first episode and I cringed my way through it!
Il watch a couple more but if it keeps on like this I will be stopping I think.
