Stock answer to defend the tories is 'Labour are shite, Keir Starmer is rubbish, there's no opposition'.

OP posts:
inferiorCatSlave · 08/12/2021 17:11
@FOJN why are they shit' ? Apart from trans issues. Surely we go off manifestos which as yet haven't been published before we call things 'shit' ? The problem is that people spout generalised comments with no evidence. Hence the 'labour despise the wc' trope.
I don't know why FOJN think's they shit - but I'm one of the 3.1 million people living in the UK under a Labour Governmnet in charge of education and NHS - it's not going great TBH.

ilovesooty · 08/12/2021 17:13

@UsernameInTheTown

Until Labour re learn what constitutes a woman they can fuck off. As can your 'discuss'.
That didn't take long.
ilovesooty · 08/12/2021 17:19

@DramaLlllama

I won’t vote labour because I will be worse off under their government. Simple as that. My taxes will rise. I will have to pay 20% more for my childrens education (because I had to pull her out of her state school due to her being inadequately taught). And plus I’m more in line with the centre right ethos of working for a living as opposed to the government doing everything for you.

Do I like Boris? No. I think he’s a bit crap and needs to resign. Do I think labour would have steered us better through this pandemic? No. I think whoever was in charge would have struggled to steer the country through this pandemic.

But I will vote for reasons of which governement party would serve my needs best. As I’m sure every single person in this country would.

At least you're honest about simply looking to your own self interest.
SexyNeckbeard · 08/12/2021 17:20
@SexyNeckbeard you don't know ? Look it up.
@Forion woke misogyny ? Bit of an oxymoron. If you are using the term woke pejoratively doubt you ever voted labour.
@PronounssheRa 80% of pit jobs lost under thatcher. Communities left to rot without doubt.
I'm asking you so I can read exactly what you've read. Not exactly answering in good faith are you. Have you not read it yourself?

FOJN · 08/12/2021 17:22

@FOJN why are they shit' ? Apart from trans issues.

I think MorningStarling gave you quite a comprehensive list.

Is there a reason you think that even though they have an anti woman stance I should still vote for them?

They branded WPUK a transphobic hate group.
Labour youth disrupted a WPUK meeting by banging on the windows and behaving in an intimidating manor outside the venue to deter women from entering, there was no condemnation from the party leadership.
An allegedly socialist party which opposes women meeting to organise is socialist in name only.
Lisa Nancy, Angela Rayner et al called for people who opposed self ID (included in their manifesto before the last election and they have not changed their mind since) to be expelled from the party.
They told me the didn't want my vote because I believe in biology (ditto LibDems)
They think it's fine for male sex offenders to be housed in a woman's prison if they say they identify as women.
The bullying of Rosie Duffield.

It may be Christmas but I am not a turkey.

ilovesooty · 08/12/2021 17:24

What does anyone seriously think a spoiled ballot paper is going to achieve?

sst1234 · 08/12/2021 17:39

OP, where do you want us to start?

Angela Rayner

They can’t add up numbers

They don’t know what a woman is

Illegal wars

Suppressing wages to create an dependent underclass of workers dependent on benefits (just to increase their voting pool)

Hostage to rabid unions leaders

I could go on. Cue the comments about Tories being worse, but let’s admit it, Labour are so bad that they can’t oppose the Tories even at a time like this.

Forion · 08/12/2021 17:39

What does anyone seriously think a spoiled ballot paper is going to achieve?

Nothing, but they have to count them up and keep a record of them.

Outlyingtrout · 08/12/2021 17:39

@Effibreast that’s what it purports to be, yes. It’s not what it actually represents to me. At all. It’s all very “tolerant” and kind, unless you happen to be a vulnerable woman in prison, or trying to access a safe single-sex space after being raped, or any of the thousand other ways that women are damaged by trans ideology/wokeism.

Tbh as soon as you talk of champagne socialists and virtue signalling that demonstrates exactly where you stand. Straight out the daily mail.

And yet again, you neatly demonstrate the way in which Labour is alienating its supporters. You are attempting to characterise me as something that I just am not. Wokeism has become synonymous with trans ideology, which is pushed by privileged middle class men, and some women, who have little understanding and do not care about the ways in which their agenda harms the very poorest and most vulnerable women in society. The fact that I don’t believe TWAW and that I would like to see this agenda rejected by the Labour Party because of the ways in which it infiltrates every aspect of society and seriously disadvantages and harms women and children, does not imply that I am some kind of caricature-ish, bigoted, little Englander Daily Mail reader which appears to be what you are driving at.

And whilst Labour do not have power and cannot enact any policies, they have ample opportunity to speak up for the issues that are important to past supporters like me. They manage to speak up often enough on the issues that are driving us away.

Forion · 08/12/2021 17:40

Due to the FPTP system most people's votes don't count anyway.

RepentMotherfucker · 08/12/2021 17:45

@ilovesooty

What does anyone seriously think a spoiled ballot paper is going to achieve?
It will achieve me knowing I didn't vote for this anti-safeguarding, misogynistic, homophobic shower of gender-identity kowtowing craven vote-licking bastards.

If I even spoil it. I might just vote for my sitting Tory. And I would have categorically told you, even two years ago, that that would never happen.

donquixotedelamancha · 08/12/2021 17:45

What does anyone seriously think a spoiled ballot paper is going to achieve?

Nothing. Nor will voting Labour in my constituency. That's not a reason not to vote but spoiling is the only option if your choices are all terrible.

donquixotedelamancha · 08/12/2021 17:51

woke misogyny ? Bit of an oxymoron. If you are using the term woke pejoratively doubt you ever voted labour.

Tbh as soon as you talk of champagne socialists and virtue signalling that demonstrates exactly where you stand. Straight out the daily mail.

Yes, anyone who disagrees must be Tories and therefore irredeemably evil- the Labour vote will be small but pure.

I sometimes wonder if the 'pro-labour' threads on here are actually posted by tories, surely no-one would actually think they were supporting labour with this?

EnnAndJay · 08/12/2021 17:52

They're happy to see women and children raped and murdered, are offering zero opposition on Covid, and have relinquished control of the party to various unsavoury lobbies.

May they crash and burn.

FOJN · 08/12/2021 17:53

If I even spoil it. I might just vote for my sitting Tory. And I would have categorically told you, even two years ago, that that would never happen.

I've spoilt my ballot at the last two elections (I did pop a woman: adult human female sticker on the last ballot) but I'm fed up of sitting it out so I may also vote Tory having never done so or thought I would.

RepentMotherfucker your username makes me laugh every time I see it.

RepentBirthingPersonFucker · 08/12/2021 17:53

They actually tell women not to vote for them. Alex Sobel said that males should be in female spaces and said he didn't want the votes of women who disagreed
Authoritarian. Other views are not tolerated. There is only 1 view allowed
People will choose poverty over that

Outlyingtrout · 08/12/2021 18:00

It will achieve me knowing I didn't vote for this anti-safeguarding, misogynistic, homophobic shower of gender-identity kowtowing craven vote-licking bastards.

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

ilovesooty · 08/12/2021 18:27

I can't imagine how anyone who seriously claims to care about society's most vulnerable as a whole can consider voting Tory.

Outlyingtrout · 08/12/2021 18:36

@ilovesooty

I can't imagine how anyone who seriously claims to care about society's most vulnerable as a whole can consider voting Tory.
Yeah I don't get this. I don't understand how not being able to vote for Labour makes some people willing to vote Tory instead. I won't vote for this Labour party but I sure as hell won't vote Tory.
Effibreast · 08/12/2021 18:48

@FOJN why not vote for the tories if you like their policies. No skin off my nose. In the end it depends on what you are prepared to tolerate. For some womens' rights are important. For others poverty, corruption, honesty. I don't agree with self ID but I think more people are affected negatively by tory policies, not just women but the poor, children, the elderly and sick.

OP posts:
lazylinguist · 08/12/2021 18:48

What does anyone seriously think a spoiled ballot paper is going to achieve?

Who says it's going to achieve anything? I don't want to just not bother voting, because I think it's important that people turn out to vote. But I cannot in all conscience vote for any of the available parties, so I will spoil my ballot paper. I'll write something on it, maybe 'Woman = adult human female', but I'm under no illusion that will magically change anything.

FOJN · 08/12/2021 19:01

For some womens' rights are important.

51% of the population are female. If there is no legal distinction between men and women how do you propose to argue when policies disadvantage women and by extension children. How about if the HoC was made up of 50% men and 50% TW, would you feel your interests were adequately represented?

why not vote for the tories if you like their policies.

Grow up and engage with the discussion or continue to act like voting Labour is a virtue no matter that their anti woman policies will harm 51% of the population and effectively disenfranchise a good portion of that 51%. I would vote Tory because they are the ONLY party who appears to know what a woman is. And no I haven't forgotten that this shit show has unfolded on their watch.

Do you take this approach with Jewish people who don't want to vote Labour?
I do hope not.

sst1234 · 08/12/2021 19:12
@Outlyingtrout thought woke meant tolerance and acceptance ? Considering labour are never going to be given the opportunity to demonstrate their desire to achieve class equality or care for the most vulnerable at this rate it's a bit of a moot point.
Thought Corbyn was a true socialist as in 'for the many, not the few', was he not the right kind of
socialist ? Tbh as soon as you talk of champagne socialists and virtue signalling that demonstrates exactly where you stand. Straight out the daily mail.
OP, let’s add you to the list of reason why Labour are unelectable. Because they, too, like to insult people who disagree with them. You clearly subscribe to that schools thought. On a separate note, I heard that they have bought the rights to the ‘Carry on’ franchise and the next production is called ‘carry on alienating’.

AlphabetAerobics · 08/12/2021 19:19

Oh I simply adore the name Debonnaire. Brings to mind the struggles of the working class… not a private education and cello lessons.

Don’t understand the Gove hate personally. Adopted child uses brains and determination to get on in life - and if rumours are true he’s more than a touch flamboyant.

Funny how things can be twisted and interpreted both ways isn’t it?

I think we all want the same from and for society as a whole - we simply have different approaches to it.

RepentMotherfucker · 08/12/2021 19:41

@ilovesooty

I can't imagine how anyone who seriously claims to care about society's most vulnerable as a whole can consider voting Tory.
I can't imagine how anyone who seriously claims to care about society's most vulnerable can buy this gender identity shit which causes huge damage to the most vulnerable women and children in society over and over again. But you do you.
