Will Johnson be gone before Christmas or after?

Sarahlou63 · 07/12/2021 22:38

I'm thinking the 1922 committee grandees will run out of patience fairly soon. So will Johnson stand aside to be a better parent before Christmas or will he continue to drag his party into the shit into 2022?

YABU - hangs on for grim death

YANBU - Who the fuck is Johnson?

@MarshaBradyo

The Cons have probably learned after Blair that a leader who can win elections is valuable after all.

However the vote this week may be the thing that weakens him. Although media are doing a good job on turning up heat on just act now

Absolutely! whether he stays or goes will depend on next weeks by-election. I think the Tories will snuck it.
llanfairfechan · 11/12/2021 20:29

After Christmas.

GrannytoaUnicorn · 11/12/2021 20:39

Anyone else see the TikTok of the man with the giant speaker outside Downing St gates, playing "We gotta fight! For the right! To parrrrrrrrrrtyyyyyy!!" on a loop?!?! 🎶 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦🏼‍♀️

Haven't seen that one yet

Think these two young women are amazing though

OrangeCinnamonCocktail · 11/12/2021 20:48

proper link ain't no party like a Downing St Party

littledrummergirl · 11/12/2021 21:38

Sunak is so embroiled with this. Allegrator tears is godmother to his dc. If that's his calibre of judgement he shouldn't be in any position that needs integrity.
Anyone in the current cabinet should be ruled out as they are all tarnished by this.
@Cheerbear24

It's not gaslighting, it's lying. Pure deceit. Big shiny whoppers. Utterly two-faced.

Boris Johnson will go down in history as the most dishonest and deceptive PM we've ever had. #Boristheliar
Yep.

Sarahlou63 · 11/12/2021 22:20

Just heading for bed and I see there's breaking news of Johnson in a photo with tinsel around his neck as he gurns into the camera.

Three...two...one...there he blows!!!

'Just heading for bed and I see there's breaking news of Johnson in a photo with tinsel around his neck as he gurns into the camera.'

Sat at a desk in an office doing a virtual quiz with 2 members of staff.

It's not quite the piss up and wild party at 2am the papers have portrayed is it. Unless there's more to come but if so where is it?!

Sarahlou63 · 11/12/2021 22:34

You're probably right. Bit of a damp squib.

Its my birthday in the Spring and I think he'll be well on his way by then. Not RTFT but I think the job of PM is turning out to be too much hassle for him, he doesn't seem to want to be arsed with any of it. He'll be far better on the columnist/speaker circuit making ££££ without the responsibility. I think he'll eventually go without much of a fight, and ultimately we'll end up with Sunak, but it'll be far from a simple process.

JanglyBeads · 12/12/2021 00:24

That’s not The Party but a quiz (so still a non work event, not allowed) a few days previously. The pic shows him not SD ing (at a social event) with two colleagues, but the main point of it is that it was for a quiz which reportedly involved offices with multiple teams of six participating.

I think there’s more to come anyway.

SueSaid · 12/12/2021 08:18

'think there’s more to come anyway.'

There just be. An office based zoom quiz, sat at a desk with 2 colleagues is nothing to be furious about, Pippa Crerar is making a bit of a tit of herself with this 'scoop' imo. Bit desperate.

Where is the party footage??

We have to hope it is later rather than sooner. We don't want the Nasty party to be able to blue wash the next leader again before a general election.
Motheroftigers · 12/12/2021 08:20

He will be out soon. I think its his own party that are leaking the footage. Rishy will be inline to take over.

Actually in the middle of a pandemic and a self inflicted Brexit crisis, I'd rather hope the Prime Minister and his staff had more important things to do.

Are we so immune to the incompetence of this government that we are not furious about the quiz as well as the lack of following the law?

SueSaid · 12/12/2021 08:31

'Actually in the middle of a pandemic and a self inflicted Brexit crisis, I'd rather hope the Prime Minister and his staff had more important things to do.'

I'm sure they did, but maybe a team building rules abiding virtual activity doesn't mean they didn't also do their important stuff. As I say I don't think a zoom quiz is this massive damning scoop the media are making it out to be.

I want to see party footage.

Beware what you wish for: his replacement could be Liz -- Cheeeese - Truss.

I don't, as much as i can't stand him, the damage to the public health message, should pictures emerge of Johnson partying, will be huge and people will catch CV and possibly end up in hospital or the grave.

Its hard to believe that we have a PM who would have parties at his home and on Govt premises, whilst 1000s were dying per week, i hope its not true.

SueSaid · 12/12/2021 08:57

Yes, I don't want to see it for that reason but an online quiz is not breaking any rules. If they have actual rule breaking let's see it.

Starmer gets no coverage by the Tory press. Wed rather have an etonian born with a silver spoon in his mouth, who lies to the electorate? Against someone who relative to Johnson came from pretty ordinary origins like the majority of us. Worked his way t
Up to become DPP.
Starters only coverage time is the mere PMQs which BJ never answers anyway. So many state negative comments about Starmer without backing it up, or offering any reason whatsoever.
My main concern with labour, lib dems and greens is womens rights.

^This. Because he is competent, Starmer is largely ignored, so even labour supporters say we have a weak opposition etc etc.

Even the womens rights/Trans stuff is over blown by the press, portraying it as Lab policy, when it is not.

Peregrina · 12/12/2021 10:06

And although the Trans stuff from all the other parties is annoying, to say the least, we saw what happened when Johnson needed a scapegoat - the woman got thrown under the bus. So don't let anyone kid themselves that the Tories will look after women's rights - they won't.

Kennykenkencat · 12/12/2021 10:09

I know this sounds a stupid reason to not vote Labour but I have an issue with Starmer I cannot recall what he looks like.
I am someone who if some one says think of someone or something I picture the subject matter, the background, the people around doing activities, a whole show reel of activities going on in my mind.
I do have an issue with recalling faces of people I have met briefly but anyone on a screen l have no problem with.

The problem is I cannot recall what Keir Starmer looks like. Every time I try to picture him I get James May.

It makes me uneasy why I can’t recall what he looks like.
