YANBU He's lying, there was a party.

It’s been summed up very eloquently by someone who is not me as this:

Either Boris knew there was a party in 10 Downing Street (where he lives ffs) in which case he is a liar and therefore should resign or - he didn’t know and he is incompetent and should resign.

JayniSummers · 08/12/2021 19:18

But still....blue passports eh .....all worth it....

headinthecloudsnow · 08/12/2021 19:27

@Benmac

Everyone who attended any of these Downing Street meetings/ parties that broke the law as it stood at that time should be sacked regardless of role or seniority.
Completely agree.

We have to not let this lay, we simply mustn't. But lord knows how.

PerseverancePays · 08/12/2021 19:40

When someone is very good at apologising take note that that comes from regularly being caught at frequent bad behaviour .
Boris has no consequences so carries on as normal.

Nevertime · 08/12/2021 19:42

Latest news, the man appointed to investigate the party that didn't happen cannot confoirm or deny whether he was at the party that didn't happen.

Nevertime · 08/12/2021 19:44

@LookItsMeAgain

I was watching a bit of Politics Live on BBC2 at lunchtime earlier and whoever the British Government sent to be on that show (as elected representatives were very short on supply all of a sudden this morning) mentioned more than once that Boris Johnson wasn't even in #10 Downing Street at the time this 'party' was supposed to happen. That's the London residence of the PM so if he wasn't there, when London was in Tier 3 (i.e. lockdown) where the hell was he??

I hope the Speaker of the House gets involved and the Met Police are also involved. He shouldn't be allowed to wangle his way out of this. This was a LAW at the time that his party brought in and people up and down the country were going through untold amounts of pain burying their loved ones with no support at funerals and loved ones in care homes for months on end without being allowed to visit.

Did no one pick upon that on the show?
prynaithda21 · 08/12/2021 20:08

Given Mr Johnson's unnecessary work trips throughout the pandemic and time spent at Chequers, I can well believe he was not in the building at the time.

That does not excuse him lying about whether or not there was a party.

Meltinthemiddle · 08/12/2021 22:54

Has anyone joined the Downing Street party invite on FB. My god the memes are hilarious! I know its not funny really but Boris is getting ripped to shreds

userlotsanumbers · 08/12/2021 23:44

And yes, as I wondered - while we were being distracted by that, this happened:

Itsnotover · 09/12/2021 03:36

Of course he's lying. The man has no moral compass.

Where?! I can't find it
LookItsMeAgain · 09/12/2021 08:31

@Clavinova

LookItsMeAgain That's the London residence of the PM

Read the thread - the PM lives in the flat above Number 11. The Number 10 building has over 100 rooms in any case.

It was Blair who moved into the Flat over #11 as he had quite a large family living in Downing Street at the time and Brown didn't. So they swapped. My point being, that the representative from the government said he wasn't there (implying that he wasn't in Downing Street not just not at the party), so where was he?
Bluesheep8 · 09/12/2021 08:38

If they partied good for them. Doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.

For those who were unable to see loved ones in their final days it matters a great deal.

jgw1 · 09/12/2021 08:47

Why should it be of any importance to any of us where the Prime Minister was when he wasn't at work?

We don't live in a society that mandates we have to stay in one place all of the time and can't move around the country as we please.

Hemingwayscatz · 09/12/2021 08:50

I’d only believe him if he admitted he was a barefaced liar.

Roundeartheratchriatmas · 09/12/2021 09:10

I wouldn’t believe him if it said it was raining let alone anything else.

OldaRailer · 09/12/2021 09:43

If only there were a grand scheme
🤨

OldaRailer · 09/12/2021 09:43

Our lives and reputations consist of the small everyday acts.

CrumpetStrumpet · 09/12/2021 09:45

The opposite of whatever that man says is usually the truth.

QuizzlyBear · 09/12/2021 10:42

@Peas252

I'm not sure why pp are wondering why people voted for BJ. He promised brexit, and that's what people voted for, regardless of the consequences
Except most people didn't vote for Brexit and at the last election, most people didn't vote for Boris.

We just have a ridiculous voting system that doesn't represent people's actual voting intentions.

Yet! If we carry on like we're going it won't be long
HappyDays40 · 09/12/2021 18:46

There was a Christmas party going on at 10 Downing Street and the man who lives at 10 Downing Street alleges that he never new anything about it. I'd like to think I would notice a party going on in the building in which I live. Such a bulshitter.

AmIgoinghomeforXmas · 09/12/2021 18:58

Much as I dislike the man I think he actually lives at No 11?

CorrBlimeyGG · 09/12/2021 19:06

We don't live in a society that mandates we have to stay in one place all of the time and can't move around the country as we please.

At the time in question, we were mandated to stay at home.

You seem to have completely missed the issue here.
