Keir Starmer should be 20 points ahead at least. Wink

@MorningStarling

There is a difference between believing whether their was a party, and caring about it. There is an even bigger difference between caring about the lies and it making you think there are better options available.

That's the key issue Labour and the other parties face. We know politicians lie. They've always lied and always will. Maybe they don't start out intending to lie, but in the end they will realise they need to say what they think their audience wants to here. You don't have to like a Prime Minister or even trust them to think that they are the best of a bad bunch.

To me, all the things Tory MPs are accused of doing - lying, breaking lockdown, having second jobs - don't really make any difference to the fact that however badly they run the country, they're more clued up than Starmer and his crew.

Labour don't exactly have a glittering record when it comes to MPs behaving themselves. Whether they're MPs are convicted of harassment, repeatedly been in trouble for assault or just a good ol' fashioned anti-semite, they don't suggest that the calibre of Labour MP is any better than Conservative.

The lockdown party is a distraction and irrelevance. It doesn't determine how well the government manages the Covid crisis.

LookItsMeAgain
That's the London residence of the PM

Read the thread - the PM lives in the flat above Number 11. The Number 10 building has over 100 rooms in any case.

Jellykat · 08/12/2021 14:04

We all knew he was lying last week... but with the past 48 hours of things to coming to light i.e Allegra and Moggs taking the piss, AND Gavin Williamsons 'do', we wait to see if they're are any repercussions.
They're bloody well should be!!

The worrying thing is, if any further restrictions are put into place, i imagine the majority of people will now not adhere, and tbh who will blame them? A lot of people are very very angry...

HannibalHayeski · 08/12/2021 14:05

Ah, I see Glavset has been called into action by CCO...

TrickyD · 08/12/2021 14:08

I copied this from the 'Daily Mash' . It made me laugh:

A POSH girl finds it absolutely hilarious that you had a shit lonely Christmas last year while she and all her mates had a big party.

The privately-educated girl, who is paid £125,000 a year from public funds for doing nothing, broke into peals of laughter at the thought of the miserable little deprived celebration you had while she enjoyed cheese and wine in Downing Street.

She continued: “‘Party? What party?’ Oh, this is all such a hoot!

“Have you seen them? Meeting their parents in lay-bys to hand over gifts while we’re doing a full Secret Santa for 50 people? The juxtaposition is just exquisite.

“Carrie and Rishi and I – oh, we’re old old friends, thick as absolute thieves – just could not control our giggles when we read all these stories of old people spending Christmas alone. In the North, too! Can you imagine anything more tragic?

“We are so naughty, telling the whole of Britain not to have parties and then holding one ourselves. Such rebels. And it made it all the more fun.

“Are you recording this? You are? Marvellous, wing me a copy and I’ll share it on the WhatsApp. It’ll never not be funny.”

AmIgoinghomeforXmas · 08/12/2021 14:10

I don't think it is an irrelevance, asking the public to do one thing for the public good and then doing the exact opposite thing while laughing about it isn't an irrelevance.

I do worry that very serious issues like protest laws and ignoring judicial reviews aren't getting enough attention but perhaps they never would.

My dc are about the start studying animal farm in English, the party is a perfect case study for them.

Very few will adhere, why would they?

It would then cause national unrest, well done Boris 👏 👏

The fall out and then spread of CV will be down to the government!

KrispyKale · 08/12/2021 14:11

Daily Mash, well yes.

jgw1 · 08/12/2021 14:44

@Clavinova

Do you believe Boris Johnson when he says there was no Christmas party?

I believe him when he said he was assured by his staff that there was no Christmas party as he wasn't there himself.

Goodness even @Clavinova believes there was an illegal Christmas Party and that Johnson knows it.
How times have changed.
Bin85 · 08/12/2021 14:55

No

Welcometothejingles · 08/12/2021 15:20

Boris and the tories are so up their own arses and they've failed to read the national mood. People aren't as accepting of the double standard shit like they used to in the past.

I hope you are right.
KenAdams · 08/12/2021 15:46

Why are the MSM not showing the JRM video?

rifling · 08/12/2021 16:07

@Clavinova So you're saying that because there are apparently 100 rooms (surely very small rooms!) he couldn't be expected to know that there was a party next door? Do you really think this is likely? In any case, didn't someone say he popped in to the leaving party (also illegal)? How can he have popped in AND not realised that there was a party?

GTAlogic · 08/12/2021 16:38

I don't believe a word he says. If he said the sky was blue I'd have to look up and check for myself.

Scientific fact the daytime sky is blue. Why would you need to check that? It doesn't make you sound intelligent.
GTAlogic · 08/12/2021 16:52

Bingbong21 · 08/12/2021 16:52

About as much as I believe my 5 year old with a face covered in chocolate telling me he didn't eat it.

ArblemarchTFruitbat · 08/12/2021 16:57

He's doing himself no favours by scapegoating Allegra Stratton. Her remarks were extremely stupid, but Bozo is clearly finding a convenient woman to cop for the flak.

The joking about the party has been made into the issue, not the party itself.

Pathetic, transparent - how can this joke of a man be Prime Minister?

If I appoint someone who turns out to not be as good as I expect I have a good close look at the appointment process. If I were to ever appoint someone who was so incompetent that they had to resign before I sacked them, I would wonder about my judgement. If I repeatedly appointed people who were incompetent and had to resign....
Benmac · 08/12/2021 17:53

Antsinmypantsneedtodance
It does matter because most of the country followed the law. Christmas without loved ones, people dying with no family with them, funerals no one could attend. To see these self entitled fwits do whatever they want is sickening. Arrogant b's everyone of them.

Benmac · 08/12/2021 17:56

Everyone who attended any of these Downing Street meetings/ parties that broke the law as it stood at that time should be sacked regardless of role or seniority.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 08/12/2021 18:04

I'm bloody livid. I haven't seen anyone in my family for 2 years, spent a lonely xmas on my own last year and will do this year too, and have been run ragged in the NHS throughout the whole of covid seeing the most awful things that will scar me for life and this bloody twit thinks it's hilarious.
I wasn't taken in by the snivelling either, she was probably crying because she lost her job and has been told off.
I've got a pretty black sense of humor as a medical professional but I didn't find this even remotely funny, I want to kick her sorry arse from one end of London to the other.
Stupid, entitled upper class twits the lot of them.
