@WimpoleHat

I don’t believe anything Boris Johnson says, but this is one of the more blatant lies. Loving the way he ones who will be interviewed fall over themselves to get in “I wasn’t there….”. There’s more to come on this, I reckon. There’ll be photos/more footage etc. He’ll lie and lie and get caught out big time.
And yet people will still vote for him!
OhGiveUp · 10/12/2021 17:17

That despicable man couldn't lie straight in bed!
People denied being besides their dying loved ones.
People being denied comfort at the funeral of their loved ones.
People being denied a visit from their loved ones in a care home
People being denied Christmas with their loved ones.
People being unable to marry.
People being unable to worship in their churches, the first time in history that churches have ever been closed.

But hey idiot electorate that's all fine, because I'm gonna party like it's 1999 and then lie through my teeth about it, and not am I only gonna lie through my teeth about it, I'm going to make laws that anyone doing the same is fined.
Do as I say, not as I do!
This is a bloke who abandoned his cancer stricken wife and has fathered at least seven kids by various different women......and we're supposed to trust and believe him??? Hahahaha, don't make me bloody laugh!!!!

Treaclepie19 · 10/12/2021 17:34

I was coming to see if anyone had posted that twitter video. Please look at it because seriously these people cannot make decisions for the country.

Clavinova · 10/12/2021 19:51

That Twitter link deserves a thread of it's own.
The worse thing is, Rees-Mogg is absolutely right, the police won't do anything

The Jacob Rees-Mogg video was filmed at a function on Monday evening this week (stated in the link) - why would the police be interested? What rules were they breaking? And his 'joke' was made prior to the release of the Allegra Stratton video (I believe). With the benefit of hindsight he probably wouldn't have said what he did, but Labour MPs calling for his resignation is ridiculous.

Nonsense - Twitter rubbish. Marina Wheeler had already obtained a decree nisi when she was diagnosed with cancer - they separated the year before her diagnosis.

Nevertime · 10/12/2021 19:58

Of course not. There was a party, but they've managed to convince themselves it was a work thing and therefore within guidelines. I remember having the same discussion re our leadership Christmas lunch (for six people). We cancelled.

TabithaTiger · 10/12/2021 20:14

If Boris Johnson told me the time I would have to check my watch. The man's a pathological liar. He tells bare faced lies to save his own skin and is so lacking in self awareness he thinks we're all stupid enough to believe him. Unfortunately some people do Hmm

llangollen21 · 10/12/2021 20:20

The Director of Communications has offered to resign. As he is not a woman the offer has been refused. If there was no party, why would he have offered?

LexMitior · 10/12/2021 20:26

Oh come on, some idiot Tories are just waking up to the fact they elected someone who has been sacked for lying many, many times. The only thing sorrier than Johnson is all those idiots who voted for him and thought he was going to get "statesmanlike". All of them can obey their King.

They too thought rules were for the little people - you know, socialists, lefties, that sort of person. Not them... no, not us.

He's clearly laughing about the Downing Street parties.

Actually, I forgot, you believe every word when Johnson says there were no parties.

longwayoff · 10/12/2021 22:55

All those of you who think the Party won't boot Bozo out, remember, if you're old enough, this is the party that threw Thatcher under the bus when it suited and she was even more fanatically worshipped by the public than Bozo is. So the writing is on the wall. North Shropshire next week will cement his future whether he likes it or not.

Saddlesore · 11/12/2021 00:05

So why would Boris not accept the resignation of his Director of Communications - who was at the party - but accepted the resignation of his former spokesperson - who wasn’t?

This. Jobs for the boys.

Did you manage to suggest in a post about Jacob 'Rees Mogg that someone else was ridiculous with a straight face?

If you did, my sincere congratulations.

LifeIsWhat · 11/12/2021 06:45

No, he is a lair.

I bet they win. In fact I'll be absolutely amazed if they don't.

Given the past history of the seat if the Tories don't secure 50% of the vote that would be a disaster for them.
jgw1 · 11/12/2021 07:53

Given the past history of the seat if the Tories don't secure 50% of the vote that would be a disaster for them.

To add just two years ago Owen Paterson secured nearly 3 times as many votes as the 2nd place candidate. 50% of the vote would represent a 20% reduction.

rrhuth · 11/12/2021 07:56

I have been enjoying recent local by-election results, they will be worrying a lot of MPs and wider party members. This week the Tories lost to Labour, Greens and Lib Dems.

I would love them to lose N Shropshire but it is a very hard seat to overturn. They picked a strange choice of candidate though, I know they are a doctor but they have few local connections.

longwayoff · 11/12/2021 08:02

They will presumably win but with, one hopes, a majority sufficiently reduced to make the rest of them clench their buttocks and carefully consider their own futures. After all, self interest is what they do best.

Finknottlesnewt · 11/12/2021 09:29

Why ON EARTH is this so hard and in need of an 'Investigation' (at no doubt massive cost and will almost certainly be a whitewash) ?

Johnson was asked repeatedly last week at PMQs about a party. He gave 'assurances' that there was no party and all rules were followed.

There was enough rumour and assumption flying around for even the most incompetent CEO to return to his team and say . 'Was there a party ? If there was and you were there - you need to put your hand up now. You are public servants and you are well aware that I have been asked questions in parliament about this. Therefore it is incumbent upon you to tell the truth. The video and Strattons resignation show there was a party. I want everyone who attended to put their names forward. If no one else comes forward... THEN I will call for an enquiry and you will all be sacked not only for breaking the law with regard to the party but for the duplicity in not coming forward.

Not sure where to start on this. In my experience most CEOs would lie and attempt a cover-up. Boris isn’t really interested in what happened, just in staying in charge. There are plenty of apathetic people and Tory apologists who will facilitate that.

Stratton will be back in some well-paid job given to her by one of her chums soon so it’s a bit moot really in the end.
