YANBU He's lying, there was a party.

It's interesting what had cut through with the public and what doesn't - the PM has a very long history of lying, it's no surprise. And if you think the 'One rule for us, one rule for you' is shocking when it comes to Covid rules, check out how Conservatives approach tax - that stuff that's meant to fund the NHS and other things for the 'public good'. And yet people keep voting them in - just why? I don't understand it. Do they enjoy an uber rich elite obviously profiting at their expense, and treating them with contempt?

Peas252 · 08/12/2021 07:18

I'm not sure why pp are wondering why people voted for BJ. He promised brexit, and that's what people voted for, regardless of the consequences

CovidCorvid · 08/12/2021 07:24

Definite party. They knew they’d always be able to claim it was a work meeting with refreshments and nobody can prove otherwise. They are literally laughing at everyone as that clip of Allegra Stratton demonstrates. Total disgrace.

But also no surprise when you had Cummings breaking lockdown rules and the PM standing by him. The health secretary breaking lockdown rules. 🤷‍♀️

They will bluster this one out and carry on. People let them get away with this shit. Like the bloody taxpayers paying for the flat redecorating and Boris bullshitting and trying to deny it.

WeAreTheHeroes · 08/12/2021 07:25

I don't believe most of what Boris says. He says what is expedient for him at the time. Lazy, habitual liar.

CovidCorvid · 08/12/2021 07:26

And I really hate the current line they trot out about anything and everything of “ I don’t recognise that”. Denying something without actually coming out and saying it’s not true just incase someone whistle blows down the line and proves them wrong. Then they can still turn round and deny denying it! Gas lighters.

Platax · 08/12/2021 07:29

Waiting for ministers obediently lining up for TV interviews where they wlll claim that the public isn't interested in this, they're much more interested in (insert something that appeals to Telegraph readers that has nothing whatsoever to do with the pandemic).

trollopolis · 08/12/2021 07:34

Trouble is that Cummings says there was (and that journos were present) and I don't believe a word he says either

countrygirl99 · 08/12/2021 07:38

No it's not fucking trivial. My frail, elderly dad was in hospital with pneumonia and not allowed visitors. We didn't know if he would make it. I had to have a telephone conversation with the consultant so I could explain to my mum who has dementia that height die. It was the 2nd time that year we went through that. Even if they decided he was doing only 2 people could see him - so mum and which oneof their 3 children?
So yes, a lot of us think being so utterly 2 faced is a fucking big thing.

SickAndTiredAgain · 08/12/2021 07:38

Javid was meant to be on bbc breakfast but he hasn’t turned up, neither has anyone else.
FlopsterFlops · 08/12/2021 07:41

He's an absolute disgrace.
Leaders should set the example: Boris and this government have done the exact opposite at every stage.

My friend's dad died as a result of covid transmitted on Christmas Day. Hundreds of families lost people due to the covid spike in December / January and the fact Boris wasn't following his own rules and thought it was a time to party, is disgusting.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/12/2021 07:42

While we are chatting about parties we mustn't forget that Gavin Williamson also had a party.

The department for education has done the sensible thing politically I think.
They’ve said “yes, sorry, some people stayed after work for some food/drinks. It shouldn’t have happened, we were wrong.”

Doesn’t excuse them of course, but it will probably make the story go away. Especially with the Downing Street party and continued blatant lying to focus on instead.

Welcometothejingles · 08/12/2021 07:50

Yet people still vote for them every single time. Watch the video in the BBC article, they're just taking the piss out of us plebs.
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-59572149

Shameless, lying bastards.

Saucery · 08/12/2021 08:04

I think the same about the people who went to that party as I do about the people in my community who held their own parties. That they are stupid, uncaring and selfish that they potentially helped the spread of Covid to vulnerable people.
I don’t expect a higher standard of Johnson’s govt because they showed us long before that they give no shits about anyone else.

I didn’t go to the illegal and ill advised party held by some colleagues. Didn’t report them or anything, I’ve never bought into that ethos, but I think they were dicks and at least I now know they don’t care about anyone but themselves and their right to get pissed and scrabble at a buffet.

Kendodd · 08/12/2021 08:14

Copied from Russ on Twitter

People who misled the public about #PartyGate

Boris Johnson
Dominic Raab (deputy PM)
Rishi Sunak (chancellor)
Sajid Javid (health minister)
Kit Malthouse (police minister)
Maggie Throup (vaccines minister)
Oliver Dowden (Tory chairman)
George Freeman (science minister)

All of them have direct responsibility for the law, the fight against covid, party ethics and standards (ha!), or all of the above.

They all lied on camera. Some also lied to parliament, which Ministerial Code says is a resigning matter.

@Hobnobsandbroomstick

Do I fuck.

Who actually believes a word Boris Johnson says? Probably only his poor 3rd wife atm, and that won't last long.

I wouldnt go feeling sort for her. She knew what he is like and accepts it. She will likely believe the same things as him, how else could she manage to actually shag him? Not like anyone with sense could. She's no better.
ElectraBlue · 08/12/2021 08:21

He is a seral liar. I don't believe anything that this man, or his ministers, say.

MyOtherProfile · 08/12/2021 08:22

Why on earth are they still in position? I just can't understand how our country got so stupid that they continue to get votes.

dementedma · 08/12/2021 08:26

Lying is part and parcel of being a politician. They ALL lie. Im just surprised people are surprised

longwayoff · 08/12/2021 08:29

Poor Mrs Johnson? Grin. Please spare us.

Roselilly36 · 08/12/2021 08:29

He’s a born liar, I don’t believe a word he says, one rule for us, another for them, beyond disgusting.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 08/12/2021 08:34

Boris Johnson's many, many affairs during his second marriage, resulting in at least two children born to affair partners, were extensively reported in the press. Why his second wife put up with it as long as she did is a mystery to me, but then his first marriage ended because he got involved with her. Any woman who gets involved with a man like that is a fool, so I have no sympathy for Carrie Johnson at all.

Exhausteddog · 08/12/2021 08:35

Its like Dominic Cummings and Barnard Castle all over again

Kendodd · 08/12/2021 08:36

No they didn't.
This is the picture lying politicians and their supporters like to paint when caught lying.
Why are you saying it?
Is it something you actually believe?
Or are you a Johnson fan just trying to cover up for him?

What possible reason is there for the continuation of this rotten to the core government?

Each and every one of them putrid human beings.
