I was called rude this morning - AIBU?

Hi everyone,

I had a call on the way to work from a random number - I picked up and it was someone asking if I was XX. I was tired and had a headache and said, "why are you calling so early?" (It was 7:20am). He replied;"I am a recruiter for supply teaching." I replied: "I have a permanent job, please take me off your books." Him: "Honestly. you don't have to be so rude." Me: "I'm tired and you know nothing about my life. Goodbye."

I then thought about the encounter all the way to work (another 30 minutes). Was I horrible? Am I someone who makes society worse with their behaviour? I have always been someone who smiles and is "nice" but sometimes it doesn't get me too far - particularly with men. Men still expect me to move out of the way, be a certain type of kind etc. and I sometimes have had enough. I do think I am angry and exhausted and my attempts to assert myself might come across as rude.

While I write this, I can't help thinking - would I even be questioning any of my behaviour if I was a man? Or even just a different woman?

Anyway - sorry for the thought ramble. I feel bad and then feel bad for feeling bad!

Still gobsmacked at the coincidence that OP is a teacher and that he was a supply teacher recruitment consultant! Also surprised that OP didn't disclose it was a wrong number from the outset.

Not been explained by OP, but she's now got Covid so we must all accept she wax right and justified in her rudeness and lack of explanation.

@Offmyfence yes, I told a rubbish version of the story and didn’t get all the facts - I wrote it very quickly while at work. Please don’t imply that I’m making up covid so was justified in my rudeness. And yes it is a coincidence - that’s why they’re called coincidences. Why do you care so much? Wish you all the best and hope you don’t get covid as it’s horrid. X

Not suggesting the covid is made up..... the rest of the story is questionable and your OP was hardly a rushed post, I'd say rather detailed?

Even with the massively missed out updates of, it was actually a wrong number.

Coincidences do happen and you happened to get the rude supply teacher recruiter as a coincidence.

Why do I care? Because I detest rudeness!

Not sure why your posts all end with a x?

Anyway hope you recover well and whatever is "going on in your life" resolves itself.
