Off to DD & DS friends party this morning on my only day of rest 😩 and it just made me think who in their right mind has a kids party at this time?

Their having chips & nuggets and pizza at 11:30!!

Is this the norm or am I just not a morning person?

Seems normal to me.

Marianne1234 · 05/12/2021 09:41

We have a couple in the next few weeks at 9.30am 🙃 it makes me so mad but DD wants to go so what can you do

TwinklyBranch · 05/12/2021 09:42

Sounds fine to me and I'm not a morning person either. You could have declined the invitation!

ParkheadParadise · 05/12/2021 09:42

Aye, that's weird. Maybe it's the only time they could get the venue.

It's Dd's birthday today. Her party is from 2 till 4.

MeredithGreyishblue · 05/12/2021 09:43

They were the only slot you could get if you didn't book early enough! I don't miss making conversation with parents before I was fully caffeinated on a Sunday.
It will pass. Grin

MyDcAreMarvel · 05/12/2021 09:43

People trying to save money. That slot is cheaper.

Heruka · 05/12/2021 09:43

Yep weird!

Seems really normal to me, it’s not as if you get a lie in when you have small children anyway!

chasingthunder · 05/12/2021 09:43

Don't think 10.30 is that early for a party. Would rather get it out of the way and have the rest of the day to rest!

DreamerSeven · 05/12/2021 09:43

I love early parties as it frees up the rest of the day for family activities.

SeasonFinale · 05/12/2021 09:44

If it is at a venue eg. a soft play, laser quest, football etc it will be what time was available. Personally I like early ones as they leave the rest of the day free.

Merryhobnobs · 05/12/2021 09:44

I would be pleased with this. Keeps the rest of the day free.

HairyToity · 05/12/2021 09:44

I love an early party too. 10.30am would be fine.

ChristmasCatBells · 05/12/2021 09:45

Totally normal for little childrens parties. They'd play for 1.5 to 2 hours then have food and cake and go. I preferred it to the afternoon where you needed to give them an early lunch before going and then they weren't hungry for the buffet.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 05/12/2021 09:45

Whatever time they chose it won't suit everyone.

We have one in a couple of weeks, on a school night, 6.15-8.15pm. Youngest kids are 6.

TheSnowyOwl · 05/12/2021 09:45

I am not a morning person either but that time seems fairly standard to me and 11:30 is when our nursery start lunch so that also seems a fairly normal time to me.

How old are is the birthday child? I think when very young that parties in the afternoon generally impact nap times so mornings tend to work better.

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 05/12/2021 09:46

DSs party is at 10am. This time of year most venue are hosting Christmas parties of events so you kinda take what you can get!

RobinPenguins · 05/12/2021 09:46

DC has been up since 6:30 so a 10:30 party wouldn’t be early since I have no opportunity for a lie in anyway.

Piggy42 · 05/12/2021 09:46

Normal, at least you have the afternoon free. With youngish kids they’re up early anyway. Might as well wear them out with a party!!

NuffSaidSam · 05/12/2021 09:46

I've never been to a morning party before, but I think it's actually better, get it out the way and have the rest of the day to chill. And the food is just an early lunch surely?

RestingStitchFace · 05/12/2021 09:47

We often have birthday parties at 'off-peak' times as my son has sensory issues and can't manage soft play etc when it's rammed.

There could be a ton of quite logical reasons e.g.

  • Availability of preferred venue *Accommodating the availability of family members (maybe there are shift-workers in the family?) *cheaper rates

Is it really worth bothering about?

OhPeeQueue · 05/12/2021 09:47

Weird, but I’ve seen it before once or twice. Just nap when you get home.

Chunkymenrock · 05/12/2021 09:47

It's fine. Go with the flow. I'd eat chips and pizza at 11.30am.

Nonnymum · 05/12/2021 09:48

I think it's normal. My grandkids have been loads of parties that start at 10 . 30 or 11. If you are giving them lunch it makes perfect sense. Especially as most kids I know seem to wake up very early anyway

JackieCollinshasnoauthority · 05/12/2021 09:48

Perfect for young kids.
