Off to DD & DS friends party this morning on my only day of rest 😩 and it just made me think who in their right mind has a kids party at this time?

Their having chips & nuggets and pizza at 11:30!!

Is this the norm or am I just not a morning person?

It wouldn't bother me as I'm a morning person and rather get it out the way 👀 birthday parties in the morning also frees up the afternoon! Nothing wrong with nuggets at 11.30 imo! Pretty much lunch time!

Alyosha · 05/12/2021 12:08

I had my 3 year old's at 9.30am! I did apologise for how early it was. They had their chicken nuggets and chips at 10.45 which was very very early.

Saracen · 05/12/2021 12:09

I would absolutely have an early party. Reduces the risk of tired grumpy kids, including my own! If it involves toddlers, they may be trying to fit round the nap.

SandPerson · 05/12/2021 12:19

Very normal

Nurseries have lunch at 11.30

NerrSnerr · 05/12/2021 12:19

I much prefer a morning party. I do remember a 4-6pm party with preschoolers we went to once and that was chaos with exhausted, excited children.

Dishwashersaurous · 05/12/2021 12:20

Really normal. Then rest of day free to do stuff

VainAbigail · 05/12/2021 12:23

Had to do this time once for a soft play birthday thing. Shared it with a friend who had 3 kids with birthdays the same week so all in all, 4 birthday kids.

Won’t do it again!

cjpark · 05/12/2021 12:23

Perfect in my book! get it over with and get on with the day. Perhaps one of the parents has to go work or do a night shift later? Not everyone works 9-5 Mon to Friday.

Marianne1234 · 05/12/2021 12:29

Lol why is it that there is a real superiority by the early risers on threads like this? Are you somehow better human beings because you’re up and about early?

I’m an owl. My kids are also owls. We don’t struggle to get to school and work through the week but yeah, we like our later starts on Sundays (early swimming lessons on Saturdays). Youngest (4) gets up at like half seven, quarter to eight on a Sunday. Sometimes we’ll get up but usually she’ll just climb into my bed and put Netflix on the iPad for half an hour while I doze/come to terms. We’re usually up and about by half eight but if we have nowhere specific to go I don’t rush them to get dressed. i just let them play.

Does that make us somehow lesser parents/human beings?

Notbeforemycoffeeplease · 05/12/2021 12:30

We were at a party in a soft play centre for 9.30am yesterday. Have been to many parties at a similar time. Wasn’t a big deal. We are generally up and about at that time anyway, it also leaves the day free for other things. I note it’s your only day off so perhaps this is why you’re finding it a drag.

TicTacHoh · 05/12/2021 12:33

Much better than 2-4 which ruins your whole day! Gets you up and out and done

notacooldad · 05/12/2021 12:33

I hate getting up in the morning if I dont have to but when you have kids that are party going age and you need to make them generally speaking they tend to be up anyway.
I liked them because it got it out of the way rather than hanging around waiting.

Notbeforemycoffeeplease · 05/12/2021 12:33

Marianne, I don’t think there’s any superiority or that anyone is suggesting you’re a lesser human for not enjoying a kids party at 9am. Defensive much. And I say this is very much a night owl myself, just like you.

Hummingbirdcake · 05/12/2021 12:34

People who want to get it over with so they can have a nice lunch and a glass of wine afterwards. If you’ve got kids you’re probably up anyway.

Trust me I’d rather spend my Sunday mornings lounging around in bed. My 3 young kids aren’t up for it though!

TheKeatingFive · 05/12/2021 12:35

My kids don't seem to mind eating chicken nuggets and cake at 11.30, so 🤷‍♀️

WakeUpLockie · 05/12/2021 12:36

Our record the other week was 8:30 for 9am start at trampoline park 🙃 we’re up by 7 anyway. I wouldn’t bat an eyelid at 10:30. My 6 year old often has lunch at 11:30!

ParkheadParadise · 05/12/2021 12:36

Oh dear Dd's party is today from 2-4
Missmissmiiiiiiiiisss · 05/12/2021 12:36

Very normal. I prefer it as then they are fed and done by midday and we can relax in the afternoon.

Dishwashersaurous · 05/12/2021 12:37

Infant school lunch is bang on midday.

Also assuming that this is a young child.

Obviously bit weird for late teens

billy1966 · 05/12/2021 12:37

Superiority?

What a strange thing to suggest.

In my case and the case of most parents I know, it is pure convenience and selfishness.

I simply didn't want to be clock watching for the day, foregoing out late Sunday lunch and the glass of wine before dinner in front of the fire.

Dishwashersaurous · 05/12/2021 12:38

Also young kids are up every day by 7ish. So not like anyone is getting a lie in anyway

impossible · 05/12/2021 12:40

Makes sense to me.

Hannah654321 · 05/12/2021 12:40

I would be happy with that time. Parties that my daughters have been invited to seem start around 9/10 or 2/3.

AliceMck · 05/12/2021 12:44

Went to one at 10am yesterday, pretty normal to me.
