Who has a kids party at 10:30 in the morning?

Off to DD & DS friends party this morning on my only day of rest 😩 and it just made me think who in their right mind has a kids party at this time?

Their having chips & nuggets and pizza at 11:30!!

Is this the norm or am I just not a morning person?

Completely normal. I prefer the early ones to be honest, saves a morning of kiddo asking if it’s time for the party yet.

EricCartmansUnderpants · 05/12/2021 10:26

My kids had their birthday parties at that time on occasion. Mainly because of availability, but with the timing for lunch, it freed up the rest of the day. People can always decline if they don't want to get up though.

Bogofftosomewherehot · 05/12/2021 10:27

More than happy with this. Kids are up anyway, lunch is sorted and you're not having to plan your entire day around someone else's plans.
Sounds ideal to me!

RoomOfRequirement · 05/12/2021 10:28

I'm just over here jealous that you have 2 young children and yet still think going out for 10.30 is early. How did you train them!?

festivefuschias · 05/12/2021 10:29

Sounds perfectly normal to me!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 05/12/2021 10:29

What a fantastic idea, I wish I'd thought of having morning parties when my DC were small!

monkeysox · 05/12/2021 10:31

We did it s couple times as was only time to have sole use of soft play

NewbieAlert · 05/12/2021 10:31

Pretty normal here too. I prefer an early one as it frees up the rest of the day. It’s the lunch ones I find annoying because you can’t do anything before or after.

Divebar2021 · 05/12/2021 10:33

I didn’t have an early riser… I would find it annoying to have to be out at that time on a Sunday. But the accepted wisdom is that everyone’s up at the crack of dawn and raring to be out otherwise the day is wasted.

Ozanj · 05/12/2021 10:33

During December a lot of venues force you to either have early or late parties. That’s why I have DS’ party in November.

Comedycook · 05/12/2021 10:34

My friend had her DC's birthday party at 10am...half an hour drive from my house on a Sunday morning. I wasn't impressed. Yes I'm awake at that time but on weekends we'd all be in our PJ's lazing around

5keletor · 05/12/2021 10:34

I wouldn't like that either, at the moment I'd have to wake a toddler and baby to get them out of the house on time, and they'd both be grumpy. They've only been up for an hour as it is, and we don't have anything on today!

aspirational · 05/12/2021 10:36

Totally normal time for a party.
Assume your DC are quite young OP? Weekends not yet completely taken over by parties and activities!!

shinynewapple21 · 05/12/2021 10:37

How old are the children? I recall this as quite normal for little ones

HogDogKetchup · 05/12/2021 10:37

By that time I’ve been up 4.5 hours, it’s not really a challenge to get out the door for that time.

starsparkle08 · 05/12/2021 10:37

I have early parties as my son has autism and adhd . His adhd medication works better in the morning so his behaviours are better

starsparkle08 · 05/12/2021 10:38

He’s 10

Ozanj · 05/12/2021 10:39

Waking at 9:30 is late though. How do you get them to any fun stuff if they wake mid-morning?
SpeckledHen266 · 05/12/2021 10:39

Seems normal to me, honestly wouldn't give it a second thought

LuaDipa · 05/12/2021 10:40

If it’s at the dreaded soft play I always used to book the earliest slot so we could be out of there before it got too busy.

SquigglePigs · 05/12/2021 10:41

That's a brilliant time for a kids party. We've got one at that time next week. We'll have been up for hours and ready for something fun to do and I think it's great because we'll have the afternoon as a family. Also DD still naps and a 2-4 party is a challenge as she's often barely awake by 2.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 05/12/2021 10:42

Sounds spot on to me! I hate the mid-afternoon parties. They just fuck all the whole day. Much easier to get it out of the way early and have the rest of the day free. Otherwise its fannying around with meal times for the rest of the family.

You’re allowed to decline if it’s inconvenient to you.
FortunesFave · 05/12/2021 10:43

A lot of parents prefer to get it over with early. Otherwise the whole day revolves around it.

Comedycook · 05/12/2021 10:44

I wouldn't have declined...she's a great friend and our kids get on well. It's more laziness than inconvenience for me!
