Just been kicked out of a group for objecting to being referred to as my reproductive organs

Group on Facebook. I was referred to as a “uterus owner”. I objected to this. I’m now banned from the group for being transphobic. Everyone piled on me and if I wasn’t kicked out I would have been leaving anyway. I don’t care what other people want to be called but I will not be referred to as my reproductive organs!! It’s not transphobic to want to be referred to as a woman if you were in fact born female and wish to remain a woman? surely?? Or AIBU?

Just when you think you have heard everything!

@Appiandterri

YADNBU. I wonder what they call women like myself who’ve had a hysterectomy.

Ex uterus owner maybe?

OMG, I’m there as well, does that mean I am now transexual??? Grin

(Sorry, no intention to offend but cannot understand why we women need to be given any other name when the easiest thing would be to say trans woman, at the end of the day, they are the new kids in the block.

@FuriousAndCurious

The problem is things like Facebook where you aren't anonymous like on MN for example, become an echo chamber of people just agreeing with what they think the in thing is to agree with. People who disagree, although I actually believe they are in much higher numbers, feel unable to say anything because they get labelled phobic this or that. And these loons can genuinely be vicious enough to go after people who disagree, tarnishing them. People end up too afraid to say anything and they mistake it for people agreeing with them.

It's ludicrous.

Completely agree. People are too scared to be labelled as 'anti' anything now that people have lost all common sense and those not in minority groups have lost their own rights as a result

@Wobblyhousehunt

Admiral Caine …. Obviously men and women can be survivors of invest and rape. Should transwomen have to go to groups for male victims of incest and rape? I also believe that trans women have the highest rate of sexual assault/ violence against them out of any group.

I sometimes think people post things like this so they can have a moan, making regular people think trans women are monsters. Is this the whole story OP or are you gasslighting?

I urge every kind woman in the fence about this stuff to know that transwomen just want to be safe. They don’t want to refer to you by your body parts or any such nonsense. They have difficult hard lives please be kind. And always remember it could be your son/ daughter/ brother/ niece/ dad who comes out as trans next.

Yes they should go to non-female rape groups.

And (UK) evidence showing they are more likely to be victims of aggression seems patchy.

Let’s make it clear. If a woman needs to discuss how a man shoved his penis into her mouth She probably doesn’t want to do it in front of anyone with a penis.

IncompleteSenten · 30/11/2021 17:38

So trans women are women and women are uterus owners.

And it is offensive to misgender or use language that a transperson finds offensive as it's transphobic and trans people have the right to decide how they are described but a 'uterus owner' must accept whatever terms are enforced on us without complaint or we're transphobic.

AnybodyAnywhere · 30/11/2021 17:38

I’ve never understood why, if anyone has a right to identify as anything they want to be, I cannot simply self identify as a Woman.

I refuse to be identified by anyone as anything other than a Woman and it is my right to be mightily offended if anyone refers to me as anything else.

I’m 66 so I’m a bit set in my ways 😊

NeedAHoliday2021 · 30/11/2021 17:39

Yep, trans folk are obsessed with telling us to use their chosen pronouns but we’re not allowed to decide the language used about us. It’s utterly bonkers and one sided. We now have tampons in the men’s loos at work despite no staff identifying as anything other than their own sex.

TillyTopper · 30/11/2021 17:40

Why were you even on a group like that? I avoid all the hassle and go my own way!

What a bloody good point!

If people are all allowed to 'self identify' as something - ya know like bluntness self identifying as a forum thread monitor - then why should we WOMEN, not be allowed to just identify as WOMEN?

Yep, that's what should be fired at the wokies!

Stitch that, twats! Grin

ButtonSister · 30/11/2021 17:41

I noticed there are a number of iron deficiency groups on FB. One is specifically for women. But who knows what a woman is these days? Confused

HesterShaw1 · 30/11/2021 17:42

My friend's daughter was born without a uterus. What should age be called, I wonder?

REP22 · 30/11/2021 17:43

Bad luck OP, I'm sorry. I agree with those who say that you're probably well out of that group. They don't sound very tolerant or supportive.

It's very unkind. I can't imagine the level of abuse that must be directed J K Rowling's way daily for daring to be honest in her view, if a small group people are this wretched to you for making your (perfectly reasonable) point. Sad

Hugs to you. Flowers

I am a "uterus-owner"; a woman. I also own a penis. The latter is a feature that came free with my dog.

@cabingirl

I know it might not be the most popular opinion here but my view is that the way forward to be more inclusive is the BE more inclusive. So that we can increase the terms used for people based on their preferences rather than try to reduced everyone to one term which pleases no one.

For example in pregnancy related literature I don't see why we can't talk about 'women and other birthing people' - to include the non-binery and transmen who can and do get pregnant.

You mean like many women, GC or otherwise have been saying for yeras? If only!

Being something other than women is offensive to trans identified males

Being something closely akin to women is offensive to trans identifying females.

Add to that the pretzel logic, as pushed in a thread over the weekend - trans identified females are actually men so some men can indeed give birth etc.

You have to validate you see. Nothing less will do. Look at the latest funding push and petition set up by one of the UKs most vocal male birthing person who wants birth certificates to include whatever identity the parents want to include. So, not their own birth certificate but that of their kids.

It really isn't the GC women who are trying to make this any more complicated than it needs be

Wobblyhousehunt · 30/11/2021 17:48

I only read about stuff like this from ‘feminists’ online, I’ve never been referred to as any of the above. The two trans women I know are bloody lovely. The little trans girl who goes to my sons school is an absolute princess and fully deserving of our protection and love. The only nastiness I see from extreme feminists winding each other up and trying to rally people like it’s a blood sport. I consider myself a feminist but for god sake have some kindness in your heart. Times change, labels change, language changes get over it.

ignoring thats what they say with us and label us with what they like

MarleneDietrichsSmile · 30/11/2021 17:51

We have lost the right to call ourselves women Confused

I do not understand that so many women go along with this

Uterus owners? Hmm

ColdShouldersWarmTummy · 30/11/2021 17:52

@ButtonSister yes, I agree. I also know that there are trans men in the group who don't like to think of their mammary glands as "breasts" so I don't mind adding the term " chestfeeding" for their benefit - just so long as "breastfeeding" is also included iyswim.

@cabingirl

The ideology is that the words woman and female should be any human who identified as a woman or a female.
So
Woman = female and male humans
Female = female and male

Define "birthing people" in laws that Parliament will pass to covers the reproduction needs for
*abortion
*live births
*miscarriage
*pregnancy
*still births

Consider that the provision of free period product legislation is using variations of "bleeders".
Once passes if I want to launch a legal action I have to first prove I am a "bleeder" rather than just a woman/female.

Oh my god, where to start! I'm glad the three trans people you know are lovely. But I could spend all night linking to cases where TRAs (not specifically trans people) have been the opposite of 'bloody lovely' to women.

And sports....should we just 'be kind' and shuffle up and let TW compete against women in sports?

And go to women's rape crisis centres?

And assault women in prison? (yes, it has happened)

Only today, a GP has been suspended for harassing women & men online for their views on trans people (as others have said, only total capitulation will do for some TRAs).
