Group on Facebook. I was referred to as a “uterus owner”. I objected to this. I’m now banned from the group for being transphobic. Everyone piled on me and if I wasn’t kicked out I would have been leaving anyway. I don’t care what other people want to be called but I will not be referred to as my reproductive organs!! It’s not transphobic to want to be referred to as a woman if you were in fact born female and wish to remain a woman? surely?? Or AIBU?

Yes, you are right regarding the advert. But apart from specific clinical related conversations/messages, terminology like that is rarely used. E.g. very unlikely in a facebook group[/quote]
You don't think terminology entrenched enough to be used on national radio by the Government is being used on Facebook pages? That similar terminology entrenched/enforced enough to be used in national educational policies isn't also being used on Facebook? Seriously?

I would actually have more respect for your viewpoint if you owned it - if you said 'I believe that the word woman shouldn't be used because it is not inclusive enough', I would heartily disagree but would at least understand that you have a strongly held point of view.

The fact you are simply denying that it's happening, despite evidence, is just mystifying. It's like a toddler denying they've eaten the chocolate, while having chocolate smeared around their mouth and having some in their hand. It's the sheer intransigence that's baffling.

It is happening. Your refusal to admit that comes across as gaslighting.

WITS Ireland (women in technology and science) last year issued a grovelling apology because they chose this as their book club read and got lambasted for it.

So instead they decided to have a slagging off session where they could rip her work to shreds, discuss how those women were actually really privileged, and how they should all be centering ladydick.
