Just been kicked out of a group for objecting to being referred to as my reproductive organs

Group on Facebook. I was referred to as a “uterus owner”. I objected to this. I’m now banned from the group for being transphobic. Everyone piled on me and if I wasn’t kicked out I would have been leaving anyway. I don’t care what other people want to be called but I will not be referred to as my reproductive organs!! It’s not transphobic to want to be referred to as a woman if you were in fact born female and wish to remain a woman? surely?? Or AIBU?

I remember a comment including the word “non-cis women” so maybe that’s what trans people are called. I havnt got a bloody clue to be honest. The world has gone crazy.

I can't understand the bandwidth all this gets. I don't know a single person who is openly trans. How is such a small minority having such an impact on 51% of the population.

Be whatever you want but don't cancel me out.

WorriedMumsDontSleep · 30/11/2021 16:39

am someone who supports trans rights

Which rights do you think trans people need that they don't have?

Interested to know what you think should be done when there's a clash of rights. Like the female sexual abuse survivor who had to self exclude because a trans women started attending, despite a men's and non binary trans group options being available.

Are these the rights you are so keen on supporting? Or would you support a rape victim wanting a female only therapy space.

EmpressCixi · 30/11/2021 16:39

Men are apparently called penis owners (I did ask this!)

Lol, otherwise known as dicks. So fair to say this trans nomenclature is anti-sex in that it is encoded misogynist and misandrist language.

Platax · 30/11/2021 16:39

You should have outdone them in the "Being Offended" stakes by claiming you had had a hysterectomy and that you found this incredibly hurtful - even if you haven't.

cabingirl · 30/11/2021 16:40

I know it might not be the most popular opinion here but my view is that the way forward to be more inclusive is the BE more inclusive. So that we can increase the terms used for people based on their preferences rather than try to reduced everyone to one term which pleases no one.

For example in pregnancy related literature I don't see why we can't talk about 'women and other birthing people' - to include the non-binery and transmen who can and do get pregnant.

LittleMysSister · 30/11/2021 16:41

Surely if anything, these 'inclusive' terms are actually just more alienating for transwomen as it's just another way of separating them from biological females - ie 'uterus owners' vs them?

It's just moving the goal posts and creating another section of people that trans people aren't a part of unless they want to go by their biological sex?

Surely most transwomen don't want to be called 'penis owners' and lumped in with the men?!

Costumeidea · 30/11/2021 16:41

Do they call trans women ‘penis havers’?

I agree with this.

I have absolutely not objection to language being added to be inclusive. Just don't want 'women and girls' (and even 'men') to be erased completely from relevant subjects and products.

MoodyMooToo · 30/11/2021 16:44

What was the original post about?

WhenSepEnds · 30/11/2021 16:45

@Borderterrierpuppy

I had to back away from a midwifery thread today because people were accepting birthing people instead of women, I feel your pain.
When I was pregnant there were leaflets on 'chest feeding' WTF is going on? Confused

I really wish I had! They kicked me out pretty quick, probably worried I would say something like this

Gottasinggottadance · 30/11/2021 16:46

Yanbu. It's degrading and dehumanising.

What do they call boys and girls in this group? Because people are going to start referring to children by their sexual characteristics, it starts to be a bit creepy.

Gottasinggottadance · 30/11/2021 16:46

@MoodyMooToo

What was the original post about?
It started off just being a generic post about ferritin deficiency diagnosis, it then got onto periods etc and I said I had been offered the coil to stop periods. Someone replied to me and called me a uterus owner - I took great offence as it sounded really bloody derogatory and sexist to me!

A self-proclaimed transman who gets pregnant (unless raped) is hardly living as a man are they?
SirGawain · 30/11/2021 16:50

Even more fuming that I can’t see what they’re all saying about me now!
Why would you care what a bunch of morons like that think.

Thing is woman just means adult human female so what's not inclusive about the word. It included every human who's adult and female regardless if identity.

I'm.yet to see an actual definition of a woman identity that's not just a circular definition * how do you identify as something you cant define ) or not just a load if stereotypes.

Its a shame you can't ask them to clarify their terms and provide definitions so you can use " correct language" I mean there's a glossary if terms right so everyone is able to clarify what they are talking about. I.mean no conversation is gonna go anywhere if all the words mean different things to different t people.

That doesn't bode well on a group that's based on a condition that affects the body as opposed your identity.

ABCeasyasdohrayme · 30/11/2021 16:51

If that's the language they choose to use in their group then that's fine, you don't have to like it, but you should respect their rules.

Find, or start, a group who has the same viewpoint as you.

mustlovegin · 30/11/2021 16:52

Probably best not to take advice from people in that group TBH.

They probably have an agenda plus they don't sound very bright.

pictish · 30/11/2021 16:52

It’s right up there with being ‘a person who menstruates’ - which was one that I heard recently.
Pretty fucking tedious.

sauceyorange · 30/11/2021 16:55

@RaisedByPangolins

Get yourself over the feminism threads and to see even more of this batshittery on a daily basis. The world has gone nuts. Oh sorry shouldn’t say that as it’s probably offensive to people with nut allergies.

@Appiandterri

YADNBU. I wonder what they call women like myself who’ve had a hysterectomy.

Ex uterus owner maybe?

😆😆 I'm another 'ex uterus' owner too.

So I can legitimately call blokes 'dicks'? Awesome!! 😆😆

GetTheFlockOutOfHere · 30/11/2021 16:57

@FuriousAndCurious

The problem is things like Facebook where you aren't anonymous like on MN for example, become an echo chamber of people just agreeing with what they think the in thing is to agree with. People who disagree, although I actually believe they are in much higher numbers, feel unable to say anything because they get labelled phobic this or that. And these loons can genuinely be vicious enough to go after people who disagree, tarnishing them. People end up too afraid to say anything and they mistake it for people agreeing with them.

It's ludicrous.

100% this. ^ Trouble is, social media, and the media in general (TV, magazines, films, radio etc,) is 'super-woke' and God FORBID you say the 'wrong thing.' Look how J K Rowling was lambasted for basically fuck-all.

It sickens me how people are trying to erase women, and I don't understand why more people are not screaming 'HOW FUCKING DARE YOU CALL ME FUCKING TRANSPHOBIC? BECAUSE I WANT TO BE CALLED A WOMAN! YOU KNOW, THE THNG I ACTUALLY AM!!! HOW FUCKING DARE YOU?'

Literally scream it in their face. Why are more people not doing this? The tide needs to turn, and this woke SHIT needs quelling.

I am also not a fucking CIS women. I am a WOMAN! A fucking woman!

I agree that waaaay more people think it's a pile of shit than people realise, but only the woke far-left seem to be allowed a voice these days. No-one dare argue, lest they be shouted down by the woke as a bigot, a racist, a homophobic/transphobic etc...

Fucks me right off. But yeah, more people do think it's shit, and more people are not woke lefties, as the Brexit result proved.

@Gerlais YANBU obviously.

And anyone thinking of dishing out the 'calm down, you sound angry' tripe. Just bore off eh? I am entitled to be pissed off and angry at women being slowly erased.

Also, I have never heard anyone describe men as people with penises. It's always just 'men.' And don't even get me started on the Green Party, and their MEN and NON-MEN bullshit. Angry Fucking eejits!

And fucking CHEST FEEDING, and PEOPLE WHO MENSTRUATE! ARGGGGGGGGGH! Angry
