Should I 'lighten up' or would you be annoyed?

We live on the same road as my 3 childrens (10,9,7) school. We are directly across the road and the lollipop lady stands at our gate.

Everyone, including teachers comes past our house to get to and from school.

My husband changed the large let it snow sticker we had in our window so it says 'melon tits' on Thursday night
I didn't notice until I got home from work on Friday night. (I had some messages from people I know about it but can't check my personal phone at work. I have a work phone for emergencies)

Im not amused and I've taken it down.
He thinks it's funny and I should lighten up and put it back.

Desperately juvenile..
Not surprised you see annoyed.

Tabitha005 · 28/11/2021 14:22

It made me laugh but, as someone else has already said, he wasn't 'wrong' to do it and you weren't 'wrong' to take it down.

So, yes, it's a 'lighten up' from me.

Gwennid · 28/11/2021 14:23

Enter him for Countdown. He obviously has a useless talent.

Purplecatshopaholic · 28/11/2021 14:24

You sound fun. Yes I think you should lighten up! And people texted you about it? Jeezo

GetTheFlockOutOfHere · 28/11/2021 14:24

@FatBettyintheCoop

I’d find it funny. 🤷🏻‍♀️ (another Fawlty Towers/Still Game fan)

SmallPrawnEnergy · 28/11/2021 14:25

There’s some right uptight boring fuckers on here like. Houses must be filled with the silence of grown ups having nee fun.

It was a deft laugh. Spelling cunt out of the candles in Asda also is a pretty good game.

Cacee3029 · 28/11/2021 14:25

Very immature but omg 😅😅 I'm sure no one is deeply offended op so I wouldn't stress too much! Quite honestly I never take much notice to what's in someone's window!

DillDanding · 28/11/2021 14:27

I'd have taken it down too.

I wouldn't want the whole road to know I live with an immature, unfunny twat.

PinkiOcelot · 28/11/2021 14:28

I think I would have just rolled my eyes and called him an idiot. It’s hardly a hanging offence.

percythewitch · 28/11/2021 14:29

@Offmyfence

I wouldn't be happy!

What did he do with the spare e?

Used it in the word "melon"

Where does a spare one come from?

Bluetitsfly · 28/11/2021 14:30

Funny!!

Wife2b · 28/11/2021 14:32

Haha lighten up OP!

DerektheGoose · 28/11/2021 14:35

Well I found it funny Grin

bellissimiaow · 28/11/2021 14:41

Hilarious! And exactly the sort of thing my (incredibly immature 51 yr old) dp would do. However I think even he would draw the line if it was right in front of a primary school so for that reason YANBU Melon Tits, oops sorry, OP Wink

SleepingStandingUp · 28/11/2021 14:41

@FelicityBeedle

Very funny, sorry OP. Would be a bit wound up but mainly laughing if I were you.

Surely you just tell a questioning six year old “on no some silly billy has got the letters all mixed up from let it snow” or blame one of those god awful elf things

So you just convince them tits is a made up word. Then they decide it sounds fun. Melon Tits Melon Tits Melon Tits all day long. And you can't tel lthem off because its just a made up word.

Could also do without people graffitiing the word fuck in public places.

RampantIvy · 28/11/2021 14:44

I must have had a sense of humour bypass because I find it puerile, unfunny and sexist.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 28/11/2021 14:44

But what will the neighbours think!

You haven’t. It is isn’t funny. It’s puerile and sexist.
Chocoqueen · 28/11/2021 14:47

@ShirleyPhallus

I’d be mildly amused and roll my eyes. I wouldn’t be furious, fuming, embarrassed, think he was a twat or wondering whether to divorce him (and other total overreactions of mumsnetters)

I certainly wouldn’t ask him if he was “feeling ok”, which definitely isn’t the pithy come back the poster upthread probably thinks it is

Oh thank god. I was wondering if I was the only one!
limitedperiodonly · 28/11/2021 14:48

Perhaps it was one of your children. My dad always used to take the blame for us if he couldn't pin it on the dog.

DonkeyBoy · 28/11/2021 14:51

Without doubt the funniest thing I've come across today!

Childish - yes, appropriate outside of a school - probably not, worth falling more in love with your husband about and rearranging on a daily basis to form other hilarious anograms - absolutely!

Keep calm and keep it up.

You'd fall more in love with your DH for writing Melon Tits on the window?
Hollyhead · 28/11/2021 14:54

It’s a bit embarrassing but I’d find it amusing as a one off. Definitely lighten up!

Offmyfence · 28/11/2021 14:56

@percythewitch I thought he used the e from let it for that?

Can't see to e's in melon tits!

SoItWas · 28/11/2021 15:00

I can see the funny side of this, so couldn't get worked up about it.
