Should I 'lighten up' or would you be annoyed?

We live on the same road as my 3 childrens (10,9,7) school. We are directly across the road and the lollipop lady stands at our gate.

Everyone, including teachers comes past our house to get to and from school.

My husband changed the large let it snow sticker we had in our window so it says 'melon tits' on Thursday night
I didn't notice until I got home from work on Friday night. (I had some messages from people I know about it but can't check my personal phone at work. I have a work phone for emergencies)

Im not amused and I've taken it down.
He thinks it's funny and I should lighten up and put it back.

@jontyl

Great thing to do with the spice rack letters at supermarkets.
You're my kind of person! Also candles with letters on and those metal letter stickers they sell in B&Q. Grin

He sounds immature and I'd be ashamed. What parent would let their children see that and what example is it setting? It's offensive and cringeworthy.

PrincessNutella · 30/11/2021 14:11

Stupid.

WrongWayApricot · 30/11/2021 18:52

Lol melon tits 😂 yanbu though, not a good location 😐

ViaRia · 30/11/2021 19:00

That’s very funny. Your husband is right, you could lighten up a little.
However, I wouldn’t put ‘melon tits’ back up there - the joke is done now and it’s time for Christmas

@BobbieT1999

Immature and childish but I wouldn't get worked up about it Hmm
babes i read ur name as boobie
BobbieT1999 · 01/12/2021 01:50

@peachybottoms69 that's hilarious! But looking at yours I think you have a one track mind! 🤣🤣

Gosh aren't the differing senses of humour very apparent on this thread? The very reason I love my dp is that he makes me laugh daily. I've never laughed like I do with him and he brings out the same in me and we have such happy fun together. He's also a kind, caring lovely man who would do anything for anyone, he isn't sexist, racist, homophobic or abusive in any way.

But his humour would definitely be described by posters on here as "immature" and if I posted some of the ridiculously childish things he says and does on a daily basis I would no doubt be told to leave him.

We clearly all find different things funny so maybe it's just worth taking a minute to think about that when you're all slagging each other off about it?

Ps. This is NOT saying that putting a Melon Tits sign up outside a school is funny. The sign is funny (to me) but not appropriate for kids or necessarily to the public in general because of aforementioned differing humour-senses.

Well said. I just found what the OP's husband did unfunny, but not offensive, but also rather sexist.

I would be interested to know what kind of response the OP would get if this had been posted on the feminism pages.

Reading Viz since the late 80s has clearly warped me because I’m one of the minority who’d find it funny.
It’s puerile but funny to me. Bless his creative puerile little mind! Grin

Ermm I think I think |'d probably be a bit embarrassed and unamused because I'd assume people would think we were right idiots. I

Jojofjo44 · 01/12/2021 17:20

Mumsnet, haha where humour goes to die 😅 🤣 😆. Its juvenile, puerile humour and I'm absolutely here for it.

BobbieT1999 · 01/12/2021 17:30

@DillonPanthersTexas 😆

21dolly · 01/12/2021 17:44

@DillonPanthersTexas

😂😂
lottiegarbanzo · 01/12/2021 20:24

Thing is, I find Viz hilarious. Wouldn't stick its jokes in my window for the perusal of primary school children though.

EightWheelGirl · 01/12/2021 21:12

“Mummy, what’s a melon tits?” 🤣🤣🤣

Insanelysilver · 02/12/2021 09:12

It made me laugh but I’ve got a very silly sense of humour and it is pantomime season 😂 I’m pretty sure the kids hear a lot worse than that phrase tbh.
Also did he spend ages working out what other words he Couid make out of sign, or did he just see it ? That was pretty clever 😃

ellyeth · 02/12/2021 22:17

I'm glad someone explained it. It is kind of funny but perhaps not suitable to stick in a window.

Cam2020 · 02/12/2021 22:39

It's not that funny but I wouldn't have made a fuss over it, just quietly changed it back. Might have felt a bit embarrassed but mortified, as posters are suggesting, is a bit much!

josbd · 04/12/2021 07:45

Hilarious! But then I am a childish old git!

myfeethurt · 04/12/2021 17:53

I think it's funny!
