Should I 'lighten up' or would you be annoyed?

We live on the same road as my 3 childrens (10,9,7) school. We are directly across the road and the lollipop lady stands at our gate.

Everyone, including teachers comes past our house to get to and from school.

My husband changed the large let it snow sticker we had in our window so it says 'melon tits' on Thursday night
I didn't notice until I got home from work on Friday night. (I had some messages from people I know about it but can't check my personal phone at work. I have a work phone for emergencies)

Im not amused and I've taken it down.
He thinks it's funny and I should lighten up and put it back.

God, you bunch of utter bores! I bet you’re a barrel of laughs at family gatherings 😂

It is funny, I’d be mildly amused, laugh, call him a silly twat, ask him to take it down and go about my day.

It’s a bit saddening to see these reactions.

I wonder what you do find funny if crude humour is out of bounds in your house? 😂

GetTheFlockOutOfHere · 28/11/2021 15:44

@PhilCornwall1

I guess he could have also put "SWOLEN TIT", but then the school would have been on the phone about bad spelling.
Grin
GetTheFlockOutOfHere · 28/11/2021 15:45

@NinaDefoe

It’s puerile and sexist.

Oh yeah...Still funny though. Grin

And as for the posters saying 'I could not be with someone like this, and would be looking to leave........'

Jeeeeeeeezuz! 😂 You can tell these posters are single! Wink

I think you all need your stick surgically removing from your prim little arses! Grin

@IntemperateSpirits

Can you make it say "ITS NOT ME" for tomorrow?

😂

canadagoose1 · 28/11/2021 15:45

I wish my DH was as immature as that (ie even more immature than me) and a decent Scrabble challenger too Grin

HermioneHere · 28/11/2021 15:48

Tricky explaining that to primary school kids.

I'd be embarrassed. Your husband sounds like a plank and bit crass. Only thinking from his caveman brain in the downstairs department...

No you don't need to lighten up. He needs to grow up - he sounds like a 14 year old furtive prankster. This is the sort of casual sexual remark that some men think are OK but it's not. I'd be uncomfortable walking past your house with my children. Isn't there enough sex everywhere these days?

lifeinlimbo2020 · 28/11/2021 15:48

Haha. Ingenious. Hardly offensive, just a bit silly. But I like silly.

Meatshake · 28/11/2021 15:49

I lol'd

Chikapu · 28/11/2021 15:50

People actually messaged you about it? That seems weird.

Evenstar · 28/11/2021 15:51

He could go for this instead 😂

"What's it got to do with other people anyway, just because there's a school opposite. I take it the school don't own your house or pay your wages. You owe nothing to neither the school or the parents."

There's laws around public decency, especially were children are likely to be. If the DH wouldn't remove it, the school's safeguarding lead could have quite easily got it removed. It's sexually inappropriate. It must have been embarrassing for the older kids.

DarlingFell · 28/11/2021 16:06

This thread is SO depressing 🤦🏻‍♀️

UNCLENCH. it’s a JOKE!

Life must be shit for those of you who are so easily offended, and for those around you. Stop being so UPTIGHT 😂

I can't say for certain, but I'm pretty sure having the word Tits in your window is pretty low down the list of what you can get done for when it comes to public decency.

I'd roll my eyes, call DH a twat and change it.

parrotonthesofa · 28/11/2021 16:09

I find this funny

lottiegarbanzo · 28/11/2021 16:10

Does the lollipop lady have large breasts, is that why he did it?

If so, it's like bog standard sexual harassment and he owes her an apology.

Otherwise, puerile, crude behaviour.

I can't really comment on how embarrassed I'd feel because it just wouldn't happen in any household I know. Joking about 'big tits' with primary school children just doesn't happen in my world.

Doomscrolling · 28/11/2021 16:11

I'd probably cringe in embarrassment if a staff member mentioned it, but to DH I'd mostly roll my eyes and ask him "what are you, 10?"

Maybe he should try 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.

JesusIsAnyNameFree · 28/11/2021 16:12

It's actually kind of funny, OP. Relax.

TitoMojito · 28/11/2021 16:16

Hahahaah Grin I know that's not really okay when you're right outside a school but I would find that hilarious

ufucoffee · 28/11/2021 16:22

I think it's really funny but I would say no to it going back up

Wow, that's one big leap right there.

I'm with you OP.

I can't even start to understand why

1 A grown man would even think about writing that

2 Think it's funny

2 Not consider the kids and mums and the LLL who read it.

Complete wanker

YukoandHiro · 28/11/2021 16:24

I'd be mortified

I don't think it's a joke aimed at primary school children Hmm
