Should I 'lighten up' or would you be annoyed?

We live on the same road as my 3 childrens (10,9,7) school. We are directly across the road and the lollipop lady stands at our gate.

Everyone, including teachers comes past our house to get to and from school.

My husband changed the large let it snow sticker we had in our window so it says 'melon tits' on Thursday night
I didn't notice until I got home from work on Friday night. (I had some messages from people I know about it but can't check my personal phone at work. I have a work phone for emergencies)

Im not amused and I've taken it down.
He thinks it's funny and I should lighten up and put it back.

Come on! It’s daft and immature and I bet all the kids had a good laugh about it. You’ve taken it down - in life’s great tapestry is it really worth getting upset about - let it go

sjpkgp1 · 29/11/2021 22:12

You are right to take it down, and if you feel cross, you are right to feel and voice that too. But it was meant as a joke, and many people will laughed at it, others will rolled their eyes. By tomorrow you can be sure they'll be rolling their eyes at something else. Like others have said I probably would have laughed if I'd seen it, provided it was in someone else's window. Defo not worth falling out over.

oggie679 · 29/11/2021 22:32

I'd find it funny but then again I am a big child!

Blinky21 · 29/11/2021 22:38

I love it! And upsetting the pearl clutchers would be a bonus

oggie679 · 29/11/2021 22:39

Wow...those dark November nights getting to you ay!

Tivermeshimbers1 · 29/11/2021 22:48

I'd be querying if I knew him at all. @NovemberNovemberDarkNights

Bit of an over reaction 😂😂😂😂😂

Tivermeshimbers1 · 29/11/2021 22:50

Fwiw OP I’m a fully grown adult and had a shit day as a serious accountant and this made me laugh...nay! snigger 🤣🤣

RaininSummer · 29/11/2021 22:54

Another vote for funny I am afraid here. Maybe opposite the school isn't the best place but I don't think it's that hard to say something sensible to any children who may notice although if you didn't realise it's jumbled letters from let it snow it may leave you dumbfounded.

Bertiebiscuit · 29/11/2021 22:57

Pathetic, childish, unfunny, sexist.................. I'm so sorry you married a prat

LindaLooky · 29/11/2021 23:03

Hmm I'm quite immature and would ordinarily snigger at this. However I'd not be a fan of my primary aged child reading that on way to school. So I dont think you need to lighten up, he got it wrong.

Mamanyt · 29/11/2021 23:20

I'd be annoyed to no end, but not let it become a huge thing. I'd also let him know that it is NOT what you want the neighbors seeing, as it makes him look like an immature boy-man.

Kate0902900908 · 29/11/2021 23:36

I'm a primary school teacher I think it's hilarious!

NamechangeApril21 · 29/11/2021 23:38

I'd be annoyed if it were me but sorry OP I laughed so hard reading that

S0upertrooper · 29/11/2021 23:47

I'd just say "LISTEN TOM, NOTT MESIN but this NOEL TWIST has got the LEMON TITS LOT IN a STEW!"

I really hope your DH is called Tom! Please thank him from me!

TrishM80 · 30/11/2021 00:10

Not a big deal, OP.

MyBeautifulFlower · 30/11/2021 02:31

Funny. Lighten up!

fabricfanatic · 30/11/2021 02:53

I'd have taken it down, too. Funny enough inside the house, but not for the whole world to see, as a PP said.

I'd be more annoyed that he wants you to put it back up. Confused Fine for a snort of laughter, but it's really not something to be that proud of. I'd encourage him to think of another anagram. Preferably one that doesn't refer to private body parts.

PilesEdgeworth · 30/11/2021 02:57

Yeah I laughed Grin

MrsLighthouse · 30/11/2021 06:44

Ok as a joke 😆 but a street with kids and teachers is NOT an appropriate audience ….YANBU

jontyl · 30/11/2021 06:59

Great thing to do with the spice rack letters at supermarkets.

Wilkolampshade · 30/11/2021 07:07

You're on Twitter OP!

Should I 'lighten up' or would you be annoyed?
ineedsun · 30/11/2021 08:41

The fact that his work is being universally appreciated on there, fills me with hope which is sometimes lost when I read some of the responses on here.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 30/11/2021 09:06

One of my favourite ever 'artistic re-interpretations' of this kind was on the outside wall of a pub originally called 'The Grand Turk'. The 'G' had been nicked gone missing and somebody had rearranged the other letters to read 'The rank Turd' Grin

Wilkolampshade · 30/11/2021 09:23

@ineedsun God I couldn't agree more..

SallyWD · 30/11/2021 10:04

I admit I'd be embarrassed but would get over it pretty quickly. It's just very silly - and it did make me laugh from afar!
