Should I 'lighten up' or would you be annoyed?

We live on the same road as my 3 childrens (10,9,7) school. We are directly across the road and the lollipop lady stands at our gate.

Everyone, including teachers comes past our house to get to and from school.

My husband changed the large let it snow sticker we had in our window so it says 'melon tits' on Thursday night
I didn't notice until I got home from work on Friday night. (I had some messages from people I know about it but can't check my personal phone at work. I have a work phone for emergencies)

Im not amused and I've taken it down.
He thinks it's funny and I should lighten up and put it back.

Grin I think its quite funny, but I can also see your point of view.

PaddleBoardingMomma · 28/11/2021 13:36

It's the sort of thing that's pretty funny if someone else's partner has done it, it someone else's house...

My partner and my home? No, I'd be raging 😂

Coffeetree · 28/11/2021 13:36

Ew. Your poor kids. Is this real?

ToastCrumbsOnAPlate · 28/11/2021 13:36

We have scrabble tile fridge magnets and frequently change the letters to make (immature) words and messages for each other. I'd probably not be happy if it was in the window for all to see though!

Melon tits did make me laugh though...

Offmyfence · 28/11/2021 13:37

I wouldn't be happy!

What did he do with the spare e?

Mantlemoose · 28/11/2021 13:39

IMO doesn't matter where you live or who does / does not pass your house it's immature.

ShirleyPhallus · 28/11/2021 13:39

I’d be mildly amused and roll my eyes. I wouldn’t be furious, fuming, embarrassed, think he was a twat or wondering whether to divorce him (and other total overreactions of mumsnetters)

I certainly wouldn’t ask him if he was “feeling ok”, which definitely isn’t the pithy come back the poster upthread probably thinks it is

PhilCornwall1 · 28/11/2021 13:42

It works well with cushions with letters on them in Dunelm too.

Endless fun when you are bored looking at curtains.

maofteens · 28/11/2021 13:45

If I was the lollipop lady I would have been embarrassed, but I'd assumed your 7 year old had done it.

girlmom21 · 28/11/2021 13:50

@NovemberNovemberDarkNights

I'd be pissed off with him,not seeing how inappropriate this is right outside a primary school AND outside our kids school where their friends, their friends parents & teachers will all see it.

I'd be querying if I knew him at all.

If he had the stupidity to tell me to 'lighten up' I'd readily agree and say that his 12 stone going to live with his mother would indeed lighten me up!

Err so YES I'd be annoyed, but more like furious, embarassed & disappointed that I was with such a TWAT.

Is this a serious, genuine response?

This is hilarious.

You'd be questioning if you knew him at all? Jesus Christ Grin

Grin They seem to hide the K so I never manage to get COCK and BALLS on the shelf.
CasaBonita · 28/11/2021 13:52

Pre kids I would have found it funny.

Post kids AND living next door to the primary school, not so much. I'd be embarrassed. You'll be gossiped about next week OP!

GetTheFlockOutOfHere · 28/11/2021 13:52

@mummumumumumumum

Wow, I am torn here, because it is clearly very immature and I would have been a bit annoyed as it is clearly aimed at you ... Grin

But it's also quite clever. Turning the W upside down to make an M is genius. Grin

FelicityBeedle · 28/11/2021 13:52

Very funny, sorry OP. Would be a bit wound up but mainly laughing if I were you.

Surely you just tell a questioning six year old “on no some silly billy has got the letters all mixed up from let it snow” or blame one of those god awful elf things

girlmom21 · 28/11/2021 13:52

I must admit those window stickers are pretty shit. They look really tacky.
The letters never look quite right and they're really small.

I can't imagine many people even saw it, and those who did wouldn't really care.

I can't believe that many people have actually text you about it.

Georgyporky · 28/11/2021 13:53

Anyone remember Fawlty Towers? The hotel sign in the opening credits was changed to Flowery Twats? I found that very funny - still do.

Oooh - then there is this bit too. The fact that everyone at the school has seen it.

Yeah YANBU @mummumumumumumum

FunnysInLaJardin · 28/11/2021 13:54

I think that's funny and even funnier near a primary school, but then I am very immature!

MintyGreenDream · 28/11/2021 13:55

A let it snow sign facing outwards is a but naff.I prefer melon tits

RestingMurderousFace · 28/11/2021 13:55

@MurielSpriggs

Ah yes! This is why I don't do cross words ...
🤣
MintyGreenDream · 28/11/2021 13:55

bit

Skyll · 28/11/2021 13:55

I’d laugh. Sorry.

AndMatt · 28/11/2021 13:55

See as a story about someone else it made me laugh (sorry) but I'd be embarrassed in your shoes too OP

DillonPanthersTexas · 28/11/2021 13:56

girlmom21

You must be new round here.

I'm surprised nobody has suggested the OP gets their ducks in row, get copies of all important documents, pensions, bank accounts, the obligatory free half hour chat to a divorce lawyer, logging the incident with the police because he is probably abusive and there is another women waiting in the wings because ones 'spidey senses' should be trusted above any actual facts.
