Should I 'lighten up' or would you be annoyed?

We live on the same road as my 3 childrens (10,9,7) school. We are directly across the road and the lollipop lady stands at our gate.

Everyone, including teachers comes past our house to get to and from school.

My husband changed the large let it snow sticker we had in our window so it says 'melon tits' on Thursday night
I didn't notice until I got home from work on Friday night. (I had some messages from people I know about it but can't check my personal phone at work. I have a work phone for emergencies)

Im not amused and I've taken it down.
He thinks it's funny and I should lighten up and put it back.

How cringy for your poor kids

user1493494961 · 28/11/2021 13:59

Sorry, but I laughed.

DowntonCrabby · 28/11/2021 13:59

I couldn’t begin to get worked up about this, it’s silly and immature, yes but not something you need to be mortified or apologetic about.

You must be new round here.

I'm surprised nobody has suggested the OP gets their ducks in row, get copies of all important documents, pensions, bank accounts, the obligatory free half hour chat to a divorce lawyer, logging the incident with the police because he is probably abusive and there is another women waiting in the wings because ones 'spidey senses' should be trusted above any actual facts.

Has anyone suggested the OP gives him “the look” yet?
ibelieveinangels · 28/11/2021 14:01

sorry i laughed

trappedsincesundaymorn · 28/11/2021 14:02

I think it's funny. Having "let it snow" stuck on the window is more tacky and embarrassing imo.

Gerlais · 28/11/2021 14:02

I think it’s funny but wouldn’t want it on show where everyone could see it 😂

AmyDudley · 28/11/2021 14:06

Its a bit pathetic ( I mean as a one off idiot moment I'd just roll my eyes, but wanting to keep it there is just very lame).

I'd tell him that anything to do with his work and solely associated with him (so his brief case/ work van/ laptop/ whatever)he can write melon tits on to his hearts content. Anything that is shared (such as your house) is off limits as you don't want people thinking you or the children are responsible.

AndMatt · 28/11/2021 14:07

I would be annoyed but I wouldn't allow such a monstrosity on our front windows in the first place Grin I probably need to lighten up....

Offmyfence · 28/11/2021 14:07

@NovemberNovemberDarkNights

I'd be pissed off with him,not seeing how inappropriate this is right outside a primary school AND outside our kids school where their friends, their friends parents & teachers will all see it.

I'd be querying if I knew him at all.

If he had the stupidity to tell me to 'lighten up' I'd readily agree and say that his 12 stone going to live with his mother would indeed lighten me up!

Err so YES I'd be annoyed, but more like furious, embarassed & disappointed that I was with such a TWAT.

Blimey, that's quite a reaction!
TheFormerMrsPugwash · 28/11/2021 14:10

@2typesofjungle

You are very unreasonable for having a 'Let It Snow' sign in your window Grin
I was thinking precisely this.
Fluffycloudland77 · 28/11/2021 14:11

I have a theory men stop maturing at 14 and this adds weight to it.

It’s a bit cringey.

LowlandLucky · 28/11/2021 14:11

What a child.

Stoic123 · 28/11/2021 14:12

I'd find it funny as a quick joke (puerile humour sometimes) but no need to put it back up - it's been done now.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 28/11/2021 14:12

how very puerile of him.

I don't think I'd "lighten up" given how much of the school community passes your gates.

Another "boys will be boys" thing that should be stopped in its tracks, IMO.

Are you more annoyed about the behaviour of your husband - or the fact that you had been messaged about it from other people - what form did those messages take?
Lalliella · 28/11/2021 14:13

Snigger!

YABU to have dekkies up in November!

Offmyfence · 28/11/2021 14:14

Christ! I bet you’re a joy at parties!
TheCovidScoorge · 28/11/2021 14:15

😂😂 I bet the teachers sniggered at that! I wouldn't put it back up, but that's quite funny. The world needs more humour!

meemaww · 28/11/2021 14:15

It’s funny but probably not in such a prominent location where children can see it. It would make me fnar fnar but stuff like that does! 😂😂.

I am just imagine it now at the crossing ……… ‘mummy, what’s melon tits’?! 🤣😂

FatBettyintheCoop · 28/11/2021 14:16

I’d find it funny. 🤷🏻‍♀️
(another Fawlty Towers/Still Game fan)

allyjay · 28/11/2021 14:19

I don't find it in the slightest bit funny or clever tbh. I don't really get it. What's funny about it??

Wilkolampshade · 28/11/2021 14:19

Even funnier next to a primary school... I'd hate the window sticker more. 🤷‍♀️

You had some messages from people you know, about it?

Whether your DH is right or wrong, what the ever loving fuck is it to do with you if he does something daft for a laugh. Let's face it, that's the only reason to do what he did.

Why are they messaging you?

You didn't do it.

Do they think DH your puppet to command, holding you responsible for things he's done for a giggle.

Do they think you did it, can't know you very well then, can they?

Doesn't matter what the situation is, does it? Get on to the woman to sort it.

What's it got to do with other people anyway, just because there's a school opposite. I take it the school don't own your house or pay your wages. You owe nothing to neither the school or the parents.
