Should I 'lighten up' or would you be annoyed?

We live on the same road as my 3 childrens (10,9,7) school. We are directly across the road and the lollipop lady stands at our gate.

Everyone, including teachers comes past our house to get to and from school.

My husband changed the large let it snow sticker we had in our window so it says 'melon tits' on Thursday night
I didn't notice until I got home from work on Friday night. (I had some messages from people I know about it but can't check my personal phone at work. I have a work phone for emergencies)

Im not amused and I've taken it down.
He thinks it's funny and I should lighten up and put it back.

As it’s your husband that has done it I’d find it mildly amusing if a bit childish and would have thought it was one of the kids. If my husband did it I wouldn’t be best pleased and would move it back. But he never would.

SonicBroom · 29/11/2021 17:30

Definitely LTB.

Kellymumto2 · 29/11/2021 17:31

Personally I think it’s funny. I can see why you’d be annoyed but I’d just tell him it was immature and move on.

whineochoc · 29/11/2021 17:32

It's funny but doesn't mean I would be impressed with it on my window.

All these people telling you to re-evaluate your relationship and questioning if you know your husband are bat shit crazy and seem like proper fun sponges.

Just tell him to keep it to the back windows where others can't see and have a little joke with him. It's not the end of the world.

tommyhoundmum · 29/11/2021 17:33

Cringing for him. He's a idiot

Blossomtoes · 29/11/2021 17:34

@LittleGwyneth

I think that's absolutely hilarious.
Me too but I’m such a child sometimes.
CambsAlways · 29/11/2021 17:35

He’s very immature I’d be fuming ,

Flanelle · 29/11/2021 17:39

Men telling women to lighten up about 'humour' about breast size is just eternal isn't it.
There's no fun here to sponge. It's just tedious blokery and I don't think you should indulge it for a second.

GrumpyLivesInMyHouseNow · 29/11/2021 17:41

I'm sorry, that did make me chuckle

Bartonzam · 29/11/2021 17:43

its funny in a way - and it is on your own property but given the location and that many people who see it will know you live there ? it draws unnecessary attention in what can be the quite judgmental woke world we live in!

2bazookas · 29/11/2021 17:43

It was funny.Yes, you need to lighten up.

:-)

Carriecakes80 · 29/11/2021 17:46

Lmao oh my word, there are some miseryguts on here aren't there! I'd laugh, and be annoyed I hadn't thought if it lol...lighten up, do...life is too short to get worked up over your melon tits.

Diva66 · 29/11/2021 17:46

I think it’s funny, but I appreciate that you’re not happy with it being in view of everyone from school.

petelacey · 29/11/2021 17:48

I get the sign but don't get the significance. Is the lollipop lady pneumatic?

QuinceTamarillo · 29/11/2021 17:51

To me, it wouldn't matter so much whether anyone saw it, the fact that he did it and defends it as some kind of joke would put me off him for life. That said, I suppose it's possible that he really doesn't know that this is unacceptable misogyny - for example, if he's a time traveller from the 1950s.

If he IS a time traveller from the 1950s, send him back.

RandomLondoner · 29/11/2021 17:54

I have no objection to child or sexist humour, but I don't see how the phrase "melon tits" is funny, in isolation. If it was clear that "let it snow" was being changed to "melon tits", that would have some joke value, but if I were just walking along and saw a sign/slogan/graffiti that said "melon tits" I would just be nonplussed. It wouldn't be funny, or offensive, it would just be a pointless collection of letters.

Raisedbrow · 29/11/2021 17:55

I can't tell. I need a picture.

Gillimac37 · 29/11/2021 17:56

Am gutting myself laughing.
Sort of thing my husband wud do/does.
But it's rude and in front of a school crossing which makes me understand u being annoyed.
Let it go. He's just being himself and it's done now and he will resent it if u go on about it.
I'm very immature and thinks stuff like that is funny tho. Great story! Thanks for sharing. Xxxxxxxxxxxx

Topseyt · 29/11/2021 17:57

I think OP should put it back up. 🤣

Gilld69 · 29/11/2021 18:00

I'd laugh but I'd change it

ThinkFirst911 · 29/11/2021 18:01

Totally inappropriate, especially as you live so close to school. I would be mortified. And totally embarrassed for you and your kids.

I do empathise because this is something my husband and I would argue about as he doesn’t seem to understand what appropriate means and do things and shares things like this on social media.

Vynalbob · 29/11/2021 18:02

You're not being unreasonable. I see some responders are the 'boys will be boys' types. Also we're assuming it was directed at you but if I was the lollipop lady I'd think is that txxt talking about me.

I reckon most teenagers would think this is immature. Feel sorry 4u, and your son... and lollipop lady no matter what shape her boobs are 👀🙄🤡🤡🤡

threecupsofteaminimum · 29/11/2021 18:03

I think it's hilarious GrinGrinGrin

RossPoldarksWife · 29/11/2021 18:04

I had this with my teenagers one year, youngest daughter into frozen.
Every morning a different slogan, but we had Merry Christmas to play with too!
They were very inventive. Made me laugh.

LoisLane66 · 29/11/2021 18:05

Melon tits is not an anagram of let it snow unless you invert the letter W.
Are you married to a hormonal teen, because that sort of stupidity right opposite a school crossing and where parents and children can see it, is purely adolescent toilet humour and not befitting anyone who claims to be an adult, moreover, a parent.
I certainly don't think it's anything to laugh about or encourage but your husband obviously dies. He's probably one of those individuals who cross the line with his choice of words and edgy comments in the pub or with mates and passes it off as banter.
Pathetic.
