To think you can't drop dog shit in other people's bins?

My dh thinks that if a house wheelie bin is on the pavement it's fair play to dropped bagged dog shit into it.
I on the other hand think this is socially unacceptable, so I thought I'd ask MN.

Iabu, of course, a bin is a bin, perfectly reasonable to drop shit in it.

Yanbu LTB filthy fucker

Loving the posters that seem to think it’s pavement or a strangers bin. Let me enlighten you. You can take it home, scummy people.

Gherkingreen · 17/11/2021 21:35

Someone chucked an open bag of dog poo in my just emptied wheelie bin once, and runny dog shit was all down the inside of the bin.
So no YANBU, it's the most disgusting of nastiness.
(I love dogs, have one, would carry poo home rather than put in someone else's bin)

Chely · 17/11/2021 21:37

People put all sorts in our bins because they are next to the path, annoying but so long as I can get our rubbish in there I'm not that bothered. We have a dog, I either use a public bin or take it home with me.

SequinnedShawl · 17/11/2021 21:39

I don't want dog shit in my wheelie bin! Take it home with you and put it in your own bin.

kylie122 · 17/11/2021 21:41

It's a bin I don't see anything wrong with tht

Anonymous48 · 17/11/2021 21:42

Of course you're not being unreasonable! Why wouldn't you take the bag of dog poo back home with you and put it in your own bin, if there's no public bin available? Putting it in someone else's bin is disgusting!

silentpool · 17/11/2021 21:52

I am sick of my neighbours using my bin as their overflow bin - I think it is very rude and entitled. My cat's litter goes in my own bin, so put your dog's waste in your own bin! I know some people have said, what if its out to be collected? I still think, manage how much waste you produce and don't rely on others having space.

I agree with the PP who said that if it leaks out of the bag, it creates a mess for that person to deal with. The dregs of my neighbours morning takeaway coffee end up all over the bottom of my bin, which as you can appreciate, I'm not super keen on cleaning up for them.

Rubyupbeat · 17/11/2021 22:08

I would never fo this, it stinks the bin out. We triple bag ours before putting it in our bin.

Rubyupbeat · 17/11/2021 22:08

Our dogs poo, not our poo Hmm

Bazinga007 · 17/11/2021 22:16

Our dogs poo, not our poo Hmm
Sorry that made me Grin
PixieLaLa · 17/11/2021 23:19

I am a dog owner and I wouldn’t do this, but I wouldn’t put anything in someone else’s bin.

Sometimes our neighbour puts clearly non-recyclable items in our recycling bin just because there’s is full up with all the rubbish that doesn’t belong in there either 🙄

Childrenofthestones · 17/11/2021 23:37

A totally selfish act and Id hit the roof if I caught somebody putting their dog shit on our bin. Take it home and put it in your own bin as I do.
There is a bin next to the local bus stop and lots lazy bastards put their dog shit in it all the time as they walk past rather than take it home.
It only gets emptied once a week and in the summer if you are waiting for the bus the stench of shit is overpowering.

Magilix · 18/11/2021 00:11

YANBU. That is absolutely revolting. I have a dog but don't put her poo in our bin. I definitely don't want anyone else's in it.

KosherDill · 18/11/2021 00:12

It is not acceptable. Carry it home.

Some arsehole put his dog waste in my bin minutes after bin was emptied in the hottest week last summer. Knowing it would fester for a week.

I followed videoing with my phone till he came back and fished it out; otherwise as I told him that vid was going viral. He found another walking route after that.

Djifunrsn · 18/11/2021 00:18

My bin was emptied today. I would be furious if some lazy sod put their dog shit in it - it would be right at the bottom and then when I put my bin bag in, it would squash the shit, leaving smears over the bottom of the bin. Also, we are on a once a fortnight collection, shortly moving to once every 3 weeks. So no, don't do it - shit sitting in the bin for that length of time is going to smell like hell. I have a dog and I don't put his shit in there. I put it in dog shit bins on walks.

ButterfliesAndDaffodils · 18/11/2021 00:48

I actually can't believe that anyone thinks this is acceptable. Or that the only options are 'sling your dog's shit in a stranger's bin, or leave it on the street'. There are other options, you know. I wonder if the 'it's only dog poo, in a bin' posters would be quite so understanding if I emptied my cats litter tray into a refuse sack and popped it in their bin.

I don't have dogs. I do however, regularly walk my sister's lovely pooch. I plan a route that has dog bins, or carry the bags (and he's a big dog, with big poops) with me until I get back to her house. That's what I sign up for when I walk him, and that's what dog owners sign up for when they get a dog.

sjxoxo · 18/11/2021 02:54

My husband does this and It mortifies me!! He doesn’t at all think it’s unreasonable. I might show him this thread 🙂

RainbowMum11 · 18/11/2021 03:07

I would rather it be in a bin than hung in a tree or left at the side of the pavement.

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 18/11/2021 03:14

Ugh no it’s not ok. And I love dogs.

LakieLady · 18/11/2021 07:21

If I lived somewhere where the bin men take the wheelie bin to the truck and tip it up, so that it's empty, I wouldn't have a problem with it. But ours don't, they just lift the rubbish bags out of the bin, so any small stuff not in rubbish bags gets left in the bottom.

The council don't supply bins, either, so everyone buys their own, or just don't bother and leave rubbish out in bags for the foxes to play with in the night.

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 18/11/2021 07:29

I hate this and gave it done to me often. Bins go at the end of a lane and if I haven't bought it in by the end of the day there are bags of shit in there. My bin has to sit near my back door so the stench in the summer is vile especially after 2 weeks Angry

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 18/11/2021 07:30

It made me even more angry when I had a skip on my drive and had at least 10 bags of shit in it. I wouldn't fling shit on to somebody else's drive so why would anybody think this is ok beats me!

AlternativePerspective · 18/11/2021 07:39

Ok slightly alternative scenario.

I am a guide dog owner. Legally, guide dog owners are actually exempt from picking up after their dogs, but `I and most other GDO’s I know do pick up, and it’s not always possible to know where the public bins are, and if you’re e.g. going into town then it’s not possible to keep the bags until you get home.

Now I have never put my dog’s crap in anyone’s bin, but given the choice between leaving it on the grass and putting it in someone’s bin what would people suggest?
