To think you can't drop dog shit in other people's bins?

Takedogshithome · 16/11/2021 21:16

My dh thinks that if a house wheelie bin is on the pavement it's fair play to dropped bagged dog shit into it.
I on the other hand think this is socially unacceptable, so I thought I'd ask MN.

Iabu, of course, a bin is a bin, perfectly reasonable to drop shit in it.

Yanbu LTB filthy fucker

It's a bin and it's bagged you're hardly digging through your rubbish. Rather that than it was left on the floor.

Courtier · 17/11/2021 12:36

Then again we have flytippers who drive up at 2am and put industrial waste in my bins so maybe I just see it as the lesser of two evils

QuestionableMouse · 17/11/2021 12:39

Not quite the same but I hate it when people put poo bags (or dirty nappies!) in the bins at work. It's usually not bagged properly and it tends the stink, especially in the summer.

SusieBob · 17/11/2021 12:39

I couldn't care less if someone put some rubbish/dog crap in my bin when it was out. Much rather they did that than left it on the street.

I don't make a habit of giving my bin a sniff, I have to say. I open the lid, dump stuff in it and close it again. It's pretty dirty but it's a bin. It's what it's for.

FawnFrenchieMum · 17/11/2021 12:39

This is debated regularly on our local estate Facebook page. Always receives a very mixed spilt.
Personally as long as it’s properly bagged it wouldn’t really bother me.

Larchneedles · 17/11/2021 12:56

I wouldn't dream of putting any rubbish in anyone else's bin, never mind dog crap.

I don't even put my own dog's in my own bin. If he does it in the garden I take it to the dog bin across the road which is also emptied more frequently than my household waste bin.

SquirrelCrimbleCrumble · 17/11/2021 14:49

I've done it, but only on bin day, and only if they haven't already been emptied!

To be honest, the route we walk to school is like a fucking dog shit gauntlet so I'm 100% sure the person wouldn't mind me using their bin as it's infinitely better than leaving it on the pavement [sick]

Why on earth is the option someone else's bin or leave it on the pavement?

How about put your OWN dog shit in your OWN bin or a council provided dog bin?

Puffykins · 17/11/2021 15:11

I don't have a dog, and yet people are constantly dropping dog poo bags in our bin and I don't exactly love it.... it makes the bin smell. But yes I'd rather it was in my bin than left on the pavement outside my house.

phoenixrosehere · 17/11/2021 15:31

This! I don’t understand this logic where they seemingly can’t take their dog’s poo back with them. They chose to get a dog. I chose not too because I didn’t want to deal with their poo yet I have to because such dog owners can’t be bothered.

SquirrelCrimbleCrumble · 17/11/2021 15:40

Sorry @Dogscanteatonions, that's not what I meant

I have never EVER left dog poo on the pavement (bagged or otherwise), I always carry poo bags and normally put it in the council bin opposite my house or in my own bin depending on our route

I've only ever used someone's black bin, on bin day, before it was emptied, ONCE - it's not something I do on the regular!

LampLighter414 · 17/11/2021 15:51

Nevermind just bagged dog poo, someone put a costa cup still half full of coffee in mine in the 1-2 hour gap between it being emptied and me getting it back into my garden (where it lives precisely because of this kind of thing). The coffee spilt all in the bottom. I couldn't be bothered with it so tipped as much as I could out, the rest became a kind of sludge which eventually turned mouldy, so had to fully wash out the bin.

People should take their rubbish home or use public bins.

Don't get me started on neighbours who fill up other houses bins with their excess - especially the wrong type of rubbish. I caught a neighbour trying to put a whole old rusty metal kettle bbq in mine as I was leaving for work. I asked them not to, on the premise of if it gets rejected, I'm the one left with a full bin for 2 weeks, not you. She didn't look very impressed.

Lifewith · 17/11/2021 15:53

@cstaff

I would prefer they put the dog shit in my bin than rather than leave it on the street. I couldn't lose my mind over something so trivial.
I think people are missing the point. You can't leave it in the pavement either. It's not a either or situation
Lifewith · 17/11/2021 15:55

All these lazy entitled dog owners on here saying they do it.
Disgusting.

CheeseMmmm · 17/11/2021 20:13

It's a bin. As long as bagged properly and not loads of bags then o don't get the problem.

I would not notice if there was a foreign bag in the bin. And if I did I'd think hmm and then forget it. It's all going to the landfill.

Far rather that than left on pavement or hung off bush.

And btw I don't even like dogs. At all.

Lemonlady22 · 17/11/2021 20:21

No! If the bag splits it stinks and then you have to clean the bin out because somebody else has made it stink. I bag everything, have my bin cleaned, my ndn bin is crawling with maggots and stinks...dirty mingers

HesterShaw1 · 17/11/2021 20:34

I think it's utterly disgusting! I remember starting a thread on this topic years ago and was amazed when people told me I was unreasonable! If I put a heavy bin bag down into the wheelie bin and it bursts a bag of dog shit which I was unaware of, that's really not ok😡

Supermohican · 17/11/2021 21:21

Well call me a weirdo but I do wash out my bins and disinfect them. They are stored by my house and I don’t want them stinking. I also have a dog and would not dream of dumping dog shit in someone else’s bin. I can’t get inside the headspace of someone who thinks that’s acceptable.

kowari · 17/11/2021 21:22

My black bin gets goop from the drains, old meat packaging with juice remnants, floor sweepings, hoover bags full of old skin flakes and hair, to name but a few. It really makes sod all difference to me if someone chucks a bag of dog poo in with that.
Mine gets soft plastics that aren't accepted for recycling, a few other bits and pieces. Nothing particularly smelly. I only empty the kitchen bin every week or two. No food, cigarette butts or nappies. So if someone puts shit in my black bin it does make a difference to me!

DuesToTheDirt · 17/11/2021 21:26

I'm with you OP.

And don't get me started on the morons who put dog poo bags in my recycling bin.

WalkersAreNotTheOnlyCrisps · 17/11/2021 21:28

Someone posted this today to the local neighbour group 🤢🤢

Tal45 · 17/11/2021 21:29

I would always someone put it in my bin than left it on the pavement but I wouldn't put it in someone elses as they might not feel the same.

Tal45 · 17/11/2021 21:29

*prefer

Takedogshithome · 17/11/2021 21:29

I really am gobsmacked that 32% of you think it's OK! Agree with others it isn't either use the bin or leave it on the floor, it's not use other people's bin and take it home.

I have a dog, wouldn't do it. But I'd be happy for others to do it.
