To think you can't drop dog shit in other people's bins?

Takedogshithome · 16/11/2021 21:16

My dh thinks that if a house wheelie bin is on the pavement it's fair play to dropped bagged dog shit into it.
I on the other hand think this is socially unacceptable, so I thought I'd ask MN.

Iabu, of course, a bin is a bin, perfectly reasonable to drop shit in it.

Yanbu LTB filthy fucker

Ozanj

“If it’s properly bagged it’s fine“

No it’s not, unless you’re prepared to come back and clean the mess up when the unsuspecting householder drops something on the bag and it splits.
Take it home with you.

junglejane66 · 17/11/2021 10:00

I take mine home, on a winters day a freshly filled bag makes a good pocket hand warmer

Pinkorchide · 17/11/2021 10:11

The only time i would think it’s acceptable is if it’s just before the bin is due to be emptied. If you’re a local dog walker you’re likely to know this. Any other time is unacceptable as dog poo potentially mixed with meat leftovers can lead to maggot infested bin. I have a separate bin at home for dog poo, and put it in the council bin on morning of emptying.

Horst · 17/11/2021 10:29

Well to put it in my bin you’d have to trespass to start with.

But no I pay for my bin then pay for it to be collected, you decided to have a dog not me. Use a public bin or your own.

Dogscanteatonions · 17/11/2021 10:33

I honestly can't believe some people think this is ok! Fucking entitled dog owners.

You wouldn't chuck your other rubbish in someone else's bin so why would you think it's ok to chuck your animal's faeces in there? As others have said - if the bag splits when something else is put in there the bin is going to absolutely stink from dog shit. I don't have a hose pipe - I'd be carting buckets of water down to the end of my drive if this happened. Uuurgh.

As for posters saying they'd do it at the start of a walk as otherwise they'd have to carry the bag for miles....well tough fucking shit (literally). You got a dog so you signed up to carrying it's fucking shit around with you.

Bloody entitled dog owners. This is NOT ok.

flashpaper · 17/11/2021 10:48

My old NDN used to put their dog shit (and other rubbish like fast food wrappers) in my bin despite having their own perfectly good bin to use. It drove me mad. If I wanted to have dog shit in my bin then I'd own a dog. It's gross, your DH is totally U

flashpaper · 17/11/2021 10:50

And my exMIL used to hang her dog poo bags from trees so she didn't have to walk round with them, but would always collect them on her way back round. I always thought this was odd Confused

RainbowTomte · 17/11/2021 10:51

Someone put an UNBAGGED dog shit in our wheelie bin. I've no idea how they did that, but they did.
The bin was not out – they had to unlock our bin storage area (didn't have a lock, just a slide lock to keep the door shut, not locked. It does now have a lock though) wheel the bin out, then put it back. There are dog poo bins 50 meters away. Vile. I had to clean it out as it had formed a hard crust on the bottom of the bin, and wouldn't tip out. And we didn't have a hose, so it was numerous trips with a boiled kettle.

Spidey66 · 17/11/2021 10:53

@Lockheart

I'd rather it was in my bin than on the pavement tbh. Their own bin would be preferable of course but it makes no difference to me.
My pov completely. It rather it was in your bin t hen mine, but I'd rather it was in my bin than on the pavement.

Can't get excited by it though.

LaBellina · 17/11/2021 10:55

No, I would never do this. A bin that’s outside to be emptied is still someone’s propert. I wouldn’t even think of doing this, just like I wouldn’t expect some stranger to give me access to their toilet because it’s easier to do a poo there then at my own toilet at home Confused. Maybe some people are ok with it, I definitely wouldn’t be, so don’t take the risk that someone knows who you are and puts the dog shit right back trough your mailbox!

FriedasCarLoad · 17/11/2021 10:59

Not OK!

It isn't a public bin.
If the bag splits it'll leave a disgusting mess for them to clear up. And if the bin isn't collected very soon after, it'll leave a disgusting smell.

Just because it isn't as vile as not picking it up doesn't make it OK.

EnidFrighten · 17/11/2021 11:03

I think it's ok ONLY if people leave their bin blocking the pavement but very obviously have an alternative place to put it. If you can't be arsed moving your bin so I have to walk in the road with DC or struggle past with a pram, I'm not going to be very respectful of your bin.

Different situation where it's a terraced house opening right onto the street.

It's not just odd, it's disgusting!
Nomoreusernames1244 · 17/11/2021 11:06

I can’t see a problem with it.

I have a verge at the front of my house and it’s always got crisp packets and other peoples random shit in it.

My bin is next to it. Put your crap in my bin so I don’t have to pick it up and do it.

Even dog shit is better in the bin than in the grass, or worse, hung on a tree. Bin right there, use it!

I don’t get the problem. All i do it throw rubbish in the bin, the lorries come and empty it, i continue throwing stuff in. It’s a bin.

Mind I don’t understand people who use bin liners in outside bins, or pay someone to wash them. It’s a bin, why on earth would you try and keep it clean!

cstaff · 17/11/2021 11:11

I would prefer they put the dog shit in my bin than rather than leave it on the street. I couldn't lose my mind over something so trivial.

ponkydonkey · 17/11/2021 11:15

I have a dog and someone kept putting their bagged dog shit next to my bin!!??? Oh it gave me such rage
Then they used to put it in the garden cuttings bin..

we have cctv so I found who it was saved them up and plonked outside her house all lovely and smelly 🤣
Weirdly she never did it again

thecatsthecats · 17/11/2021 11:15

I keep my bin at the end of my drive because I'd rather people used it and kept my neighbourhood clean personally.

I use less than half of it a week anyway, most of which is cat shit, so meh.

Pinkorchide · 17/11/2021 11:49

I always wonder who does this and why. Even if your exMIL does pick them up again plenty of people leave theirs hanging there for evermore. Really strange thing to do and not pleasant for those who have to walk past them.
SirChenjins · 17/11/2021 11:56

I think it depends how far away home is

No, it really doesn’t depend. If you’re going a distance then buy a small backpack and stick your bagged dog poo and other rubbish in that, and then empty it into your own big or a public bin. Don’t use other people’s private bins.

SirChenjins · 17/11/2021 11:56

*Bin, not big

CottonSock · 17/11/2021 12:07

Not acceptable. Only emptied fortnightly

Dentistlakes · 17/11/2021 12:12

No, it or acceptable to put your dog’s poo (bagged or not) into someone else’s domestic bin. Your dog’s poo, your responsibility. Take it home and put it in your own bin or a designated dog poo bin. Anything else is revolting. Also, don’t leave bags of dog poo on pavements, walls, paths, verges or the current favourite, hanging from tree branches. It’s horrible.

wendywoopywoo222 · 17/11/2021 12:14

I wouldn't do it but wouldn't mind if anyone put it in my bin.

TellerTuesday · 17/11/2021 12:33

No, absolutely not. If my bin is on the pavement after being emptied I don't want to spend the next fortnight opening the lid & smelling your dogs shit!! Take it home with you & put it in your own bin or a public one!!

We have a man that walks his dog down our road, he bags the 💩 up in a poo bag and pushes it down the drain on the road.... it is the grimmest thing I have ever seen & he gives not one fuck even when people have been out & mentioned it to him 🤢
