To think you can't drop dog shit in other people's bins?

My dh thinks that if a house wheelie bin is on the pavement it's fair play to dropped bagged dog shit into it.
I on the other hand think this is socially unacceptable, so I thought I'd ask MN.

Iabu, of course, a bin is a bin, perfectly reasonable to drop shit in it.

Yanbu LTB filthy fucker

I am really shocked people think this os okay!

Hoesbeforebroes · 16/11/2021 21:28

OK to plop on top of rubbish that's out to be collected.

Otherwise, no.

shouldistop · 16/11/2021 21:28

If it's a bin that is about to be picked up then I think it's fine but not one that's just been emptied.

crazycatgal · 16/11/2021 21:29

I'm a dog owner and I don't think this is OK at all. It's not hard to carry a poo bag to a public bin or home with you.

Chloemol · 16/11/2021 21:30

I have a dog. I would never dream of doing this

byvirtue · 16/11/2021 21:32

You don’t own your bin, it’s the councils surely?

I can’t get too wound up about it if it’s being disposed of properly but then worrying about what’s going in my (council supplied) bin is extremely low down my priorities.

SpacePotato · 16/11/2021 21:33

If you choose to have a dog you take it's bags of shit home with you.

Bellfor · 16/11/2021 21:35

@Melonportal

People really think this is OK? I don't have a dog because I don't want to deal with its shit. I certainly don't want to deal with your dog's shit.

Exactly this.

jackiebenimble · 16/11/2021 21:35

It enrages me when people put their dogshit in my bin. Why would i want shit in my bin?
Take it home and put it in your own.

As a non pet owner i just cant get my head around anyone thinking this is ok. I also go to the end of my drive and shout at people who i see not bagging it up.

Would a dog owner think it ok for a human to curl one out and lob it in their bin?

RitaFires · 16/11/2021 21:35

I've had this, people dumping dog poo and half filled coffee cups into my recycling bin which means I have to empty it out and rinse out the bin. I think it's rude and entitled to use other people's stuff without their permission.

TedMullins · 16/11/2021 21:36

I’m with your husband. Obviously not ok to put it in the recycling bin but in the general rubbish bin, fine. It’s literally a bin, for rubbish. I wouldn’t care if someone put it in my bin. I can’t imagine caring about the contents of a wheelie bin that I never have to personally empty

LethargicActress · 16/11/2021 21:36

@WholeClassKeptIn

So am I.

Are people ok with others putting anything they want in their bins, or just dog shit. Do people regularly look at other people’s wheelie bins and think they’re fair game for whatever they want to put in there?

TedMullins · 16/11/2021 21:37

@LethargicActress yes, if I have rubbish that needs disposing of and their bin is closer than mine and there’s no public bin around. It’s literally a bin?! I don’t get why people care

megletthesecond · 16/11/2021 21:37

Yanbu.
It's gross and makes other people's bins smell.

OnTheBoardwalk · 16/11/2021 21:38

I have to pay the council for my bin and if the wrong rubbish is in it, like dog shit in my paper bin, it doesn’t get emptied. I therefore am paying for a collection service for something that doesn’t happen cos an inconsiderate dog owners puts their shit in my bin

The council pays for public bins that accept dog shit. Put it in there not my bin

GreenLunchBox · 16/11/2021 21:39

I saw a pooh bag in my bin and it pissed me off.

Stellaris22 · 16/11/2021 21:39

I’ve been out walking my dog with a fellow dog owner, they casually walked into someone’s front garden and put the dog po bag in someone’s bin.

I didn’t really know how to react, they obviously do it all the time. It’s not something I’d be comfortable doing, I wait till I get home and use my own bin, but there’s normally bins on the walk.

GreenLunchBox · 16/11/2021 21:39

It was the bottle bin too, the dirty fuckers

hiredandsqueak · 16/11/2021 21:40

It's a no from me. If I have passed the dog poo bins on our walk I take it home and put it in my bin. I wouldn't want other people using my bin so wouldn't use somebody else's

XenoBitch · 16/11/2021 21:41

There is an elderly chap in my street who makes it his duty to put out everyone's bins on the evening prior to bin day. He looks through our bins and recycling, and if you don't have much, he takes it out and puts it in other people's bins/recycling. Or he fills your bins up with other people's stuff.
I have gone out to put rubbish in my bin to find it full because he has filled it up with other people's rubbish.
I know he means well, but it pisses me off.

Clymene · 16/11/2021 21:41

@Ozanj

If it’s properly bagged it’s fine.
No it's not.
TurnUpTurnip · 16/11/2021 21:43

I’m surprised so many think this is ok! My mum wouldn’t even let me put my babies nappies in her bin when I Use to visit I had to take them with me when I left 😂. I wouldnt use a strangers bin for any rubbish if it didn’t belong to me.

GoodnightGrandma · 16/11/2021 21:45

Absolutely not.
I have a dog myself and would never do it.

Maiyakat · 16/11/2021 21:46

Someone once dropped their bagged dog poo in my empty wheely bin. I didn't know it was there. I put my rubbish in as normal. By the time the bin was next emptied the weight of the rubbish had split the bag, there was rancid dog poo all over the base of the bin and it stank. So no, it's not ok.

takingmytimeonmyride · 16/11/2021 21:49

If it was waiting to be emptied I'd rather they put it in my bin than hang it on a tree, drop it on the pavement etc. if it had already been emptied I wouldn't be happy as I'd have to fish it out so my rubbish didn't land on it and split the bag. Also, if my bin isn't full the bin men pick the bags out so would probably leave it if it was at the bottom of the bin under one bag of rubbish.
