To think you can't drop dog shit in other people's bins?

My dh thinks that if a house wheelie bin is on the pavement it's fair play to dropped bagged dog shit into it.
I on the other hand think this is socially unacceptable, so I thought I'd ask MN.

Iabu, of course, a bin is a bin, perfectly reasonable to drop shit in it.

Yanbu LTB filthy fucker

That’s horrific!! No way would I want someone to put shit in my bin!! 🤢 would people be ok with soiled nappies from strangers dropped in their bin as well?!

curtains15 · 16/11/2021 21:52

Noo I wouldn't do this. I put a poo bag in mine after being emptied and two weeks later after it got emptied again it was all squished at the bottom of the bin and I had to clean the bin. now I only put them
In if the bin is full.

CheeseMmmm · 16/11/2021 21:54

Hmm

Well in theory I wouldn't mind. As long as properly bagged.
Better than leaving it or hanging it from a bush or tree which is both bizarre and utterly gross.

In practice. I think if it was the odd one well tbh I probably wouldn't even notice and if I did wouldn't think anything of it I mean the bags aren't usually transparent! So wouldn't notice.

If it was 20 a week and leaking then urgh.

hotmeatymilk · 16/11/2021 21:54

I’m in a terrace with the bins directly by the front door, in full sun as it’s south-facing. Dropping dog shit in it to fester is criminal. I don’t have a dog, I don’t want dog shit in my life. Keep it to your own bin!

Wheresmywoolyjumpers · 16/11/2021 21:56

No, I would never do that. Although I have been tempted. But I carry my bags home to dispose of.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 16/11/2021 21:58

Nope, I don’t even put my dogs poo in ours (it goes in the dog poo bin). I wouldn’t presume to use anyone else’s bin for anything.

Shouldershrugger · 16/11/2021 21:59

I personally don't. I just wait to come across a public bin or my own bin.

cherrypie66 · 16/11/2021 21:59

I always find a skip on someone's drive to Chuck mine in can't see the harm in it myself. I wouldn't put in someone's bin though

kowari · 16/11/2021 21:59

YANBU, it's disgusting. People should use a dog poo bin or take it home. Even in a bag it stinks. I don't have a dog so I don't want dog shit in my bin.

Capferret · 16/11/2021 22:00

I have a ddog and would never do this. I've carried a bag of dog poo past many a tempting bin but I always wait for a dog bin or a public bin.
It's just bad etiquette to put your dog poo in private bins.

RIPWalter · 16/11/2021 22:01

A village near me got stickers printed up a few years ago that residents could put on their bins inviting dog walkers to place poo bags in their bins in an attempt to encourage people to clean up after their dogs more. Seemed like a good idea to me.

Crunchymum · 16/11/2021 22:01

I have to remove the refuse from my wheelie bin for the weekly collection so I'd be properly fucked off if there were random bags of shit in my bin (my rubbish is all bagged up etc).

kowari · 16/11/2021 22:02

Also the bin men usually just lift my bag out, they don't tip it, so a dog poo bag could be left for weeks.

Clymene · 16/11/2021 22:03

Am I the only person who hangs dog poo bags off their dog lead until they get to a bin? It works well

GrandmasCat · 16/11/2021 22:04

It is not nice if the bin is empty as the bag will break and stick to the bottom when the unsuspecting owner puts their rubbish in.

I wouldn’t mind putting it bagged, in a full bin on a bin collection day. Empty bin after collection, take it home to your own bin.

Ebananascroogey · 16/11/2021 22:06

Depends really. In normal circumstances I would say no. If you have "those" neighbours (like we do) that seem to think it's fine to leave their bin out blocking the pavement for 48 hours after it's been emptied, knock yourself out, they absolutely deserve it!

WholeClassKeptIn · 16/11/2021 22:06

Btw why di some people hang them from a tree!?

shampooing · 16/11/2021 22:07

It's disgusting, I wouldn't want anyone putting their dog's poo in my bin. If the bag splits my bin would be pretty grim.

Concestor · 16/11/2021 22:08

No, no, no!
Take your dog shit home with you and put it in your own bin. Take responsibility for it yourself.

I can't believe anyone thinks this is ok. Dog owners are so entitled.

userxx · 16/11/2021 22:08

@WholeClassKeptIn

Btw why di some people hang them from a tree!?

Because people kick off if you put them in someone else's bin. I know where I'd prefer it to go.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 16/11/2021 22:09

Absolutely not acceptable under any circumstances

StoneofDestiny · 16/11/2021 22:09

Totally unacceptable. Your dog, your problem, so take your shift to your own bin.

Lifewith · 16/11/2021 22:12

@Ozanj

If it’s properly bagged it’s fine.
No it's not!
WholeClassKeptIn · 16/11/2021 22:12

Userxx how about owners just be responsible and take their own shit home with them 🙄 . Part and parcel of owning an animal really.

Our bins sit outside my front door. I don't want to walk past shit for 2 weeks.

QuitMoaning · 16/11/2021 22:13

I occasionally find poo bags in my garden where people have thrown them over the fence. If they aren’t going to dispose responsibly then in my bin would be better than over my fence.

It would irritate me but it is better than poo left on the pavement (or randomly thrown over the fence)
