Was I wrong to tell hairdresser the truth ? Pic*

I have been going to a new hair salon since the summer so this was visit 4/5…

I have lovely long thick hair and I’m quite specific and clear about what I want, more so over the fringe as I’ve had bad ones in the past. The hairdresser has cut my hair on two previous occasions with no issues but today in my eyes she butchered it and my British politeness evaded me when I looked in the mirror…

She asked if I liked it … I have a sharp No!
She asked why don’t you like it ? I explained that it was wonky, above the eyebrow when I specifically said I wanted it just below and the thinning had given different thickness throughout … the hairdresser was clearly shocked I said no and said ‘ I’ve seen lots of fringes and this is fine ‘

The manager also sided with her, I paid and left ( £90) for the colour cut and blow dry. A few mins after leaving the salon calls me and I ignore as I’m raging at this point on my phone to my friend and then a mobile number calls me and it’s the manager calling off her phone to tell me off for leaving a 1 star on Treatwell… is that even allowed ?

She asked me to remove the one and said giggling ‘ we really don’t deserve the one ‘ I said I deserved a decent cut . She said she didn’t know how I felt about it I pointed out she was there the whole time standing and I paid her and spoke about it at the end … she said what do you want to be happy ? I’ll give you discount or free £15 treatment next time…. Next time ?! Hell no!

I made a excuse to get off the line but I did leave a google review and a photo.

Was I wrong to be not typically British politeness and straight up say NO when asked if I liked it … ? What is your opinion on that fringe cut ? For context it was just below my eyebrows , even and the same thickness when I went in

I think yabu if I’m honest. It looks like a small ruffle with fingers might sort it.

AnyFucker · 15/11/2021 19:51

If it was already at the length you wanted the fringe why did you ask to get it cut ?

Brighton5555 · 15/11/2021 19:52

Perhaps I wasn’t that clear it was way below the eyebrows in my line of vision and I like it just below .. it’s really not a fix job with a ruffle . They even tried that

It looks OK but if its not what you wanted its not what you wanted you complained at the time and they ignored you so what were they expecting?

MrsBerthaRochester · 15/11/2021 19:53

Its a ruot! I would have been fuming as well!

MrsBerthaRochester · 15/11/2021 19:54

Riot.

Nowomenaroundeh · 15/11/2021 19:54

It is awful. I'd be furious. There is nothing you can do with a fringe that is too short and feathery.

DrierThanANunsNasty · 15/11/2021 19:54

Good for you for standing your ground. At the end of the day it’s YOUR hair and if you don’t like it then the hairdresser hasn’t done a very good job.

I’ve had so many dodgy haircuts and British politeness led to me saying I loved it when I hated it.

DahliaMacNamara · 15/11/2021 19:54

The length isn't a big deal, though I wouldn't be leaving a great review for that. . The excess thinning, imo, is.

Boopeedoop · 15/11/2021 19:54

So you wanted more of a Claudia winkleman fringe?
You definitely didn't get that.

dementedpixie · 15/11/2021 19:55

They have cut it too short and thinned it unevenly
I like my fringe on my eyebrows and not above.

Arren12 · 15/11/2021 19:55

Ye its too short. Wonky and thin. Sorry op

PingedPotato · 15/11/2021 19:56

You should have been offered the discount there and then. Not as a bribe to remove your review.

MrsFoxyplease · 15/11/2021 19:56

It's not right. It looks like you've done it yourself. Certainly not professional standard. Too much out of the middle.

Disfordarkchocolate · 15/11/2021 19:56

That's a pretty poor looking fringe OP. This happened to me a previous hairdresser, they cut the fringe to its wet length, when it was dried if was 1/2 inch too short.

ImUninsultable · 15/11/2021 19:57

Its awful. Why would she have taken thinners to it?! It is awful.

They could have tried to cover the thinning by pulling some more hair forward into the fringe for you, but they screwed up the length and that cant be changed.

If you were very clear with them on what you wanted then that is totally the opposite so deserves a 1 star.

Roasted02 · 15/11/2021 19:57

I agree it doesn’t look great however you paid which in full so maybe that has sent them mixed messages? Was there any negotiation about pay when you paid?
Honestly her comment “I’ve seen lots of fringes and this is fine” had irked me. Thats irrelevant, it’s not what you asked for.

SafeMove · 15/11/2021 19:57

Do you have a cor flick? It looks lile it isn't sitting right...

Spiceup · 15/11/2021 19:58

That's exactly how I like a fringe and I can never get my hairdresser to feather it enough.

If you have it below your eyebrows when it's cut, surely it needs doing again within a week or two?

HoseMeDownWithHolyWater · 15/11/2021 19:58

Are people looking at a different photo?

It looks like a child had cut it with kitchen scissors and it's now grown out a bit.

Brighton5555 · 15/11/2021 19:58

It didn’t cross my mind to get a discount, in fact I wasn’t even thinking how they might respond when I said No I didn’t like it.

The owner IMO is vile to have started calling me almost immediately after I left a one on Treatwell and I made it clear to her I didn’t want anything for free just how disappointed I was .

DinaofCloud9 · 15/11/2021 19:58

Yes it's not a great cut. You have to be so careful with a fringe. One mm more than I want and the whole haircut is ruined.

GreyhoundG1rl · 15/11/2021 19:58

Of course you weren't unreasonable.

Snoopfroggyfrogg · 15/11/2021 19:59

They've got an absolute cheek trying to.offer you a discount for a 1* review AFTER you'd expressed dissatisfaction and they made you pay in full. You did the right thing in explaining you weren't satisfied. What was the point her asking if she had no intention of either amending it (not really possible with a too short fringe) or compensating you (discount etc).

whymewhyme · 15/11/2021 19:59

I'd be fuming aswell, it's to thin and wonky
