Elderly Neighbour. WWYD?

Since I moved, I've had a weekly coffee with my neighbour, at his instigation. He's 70, lots of family locally, who he sees daily. It was fine at first, but now he won't stop asking me to go for a meal with him. I felt that was too much as he said he wouldn't split the bill or take turns paying. He also said worryingly "We'll go tor a few meal's & maybe see what happens". I very firmly squashed the more than friendship angle he was hinting at , but he's still bringing it up all the time, like a broken record. I now want to stop the weekly coffee as his persisting is making me uneasy. But that feels mean . WWYD?

@Tamrastarr boak
That's gross that he engineered a forced a tongue kiss into you, I'm heaving at that. I'd be heaving any man did that but so unexpected from someone far older that you showed no interest in at all other than as a friendly neighbour. He sounds a bit of a predator, I hope your DD avoids him and his cat the same as you avoid him now.

I do find it quite amazing how men in their 70s and more can still think they have a chance with young women. It's baffling to me that they can be so unrealistic.

When I was a post grad student in my 20s I had to enroll a number of older men in a study and a number of them tried to hit on me. One of them wanted me to go on a cruise with him! I couldn't understand how they would think I would have any interest in a man old enough to be my grandad but clearly they did.

It is absolutely extraordinary the delusions of some men.

Not all, but there definitely is a type, usually sleazy in my experience.

Hilarious really.🙄

Yanbu!! I have found myself in a similar situation. Started going for coffee with a man I would occasionally bump into at the shops. He then started being overly touchy and making inappropriate comments and hinting about us dating. I told him very firmly just friends but he still persisted! Im 46, he is 20 years older but looks more than that. Thankfully he seems to have gone in a huff since I declined his offer to take me out to dinner so Im just going to be unavailable for any future coffees. And 70 IS old!
