To get a fucking huge bed?

I'm about to move to icu and I've been told I'll be doing night permanently for 4 months, 4 nights at once mom-Thursday. That's fine with me it's a bit more money, but we've just moved into a new house and we've got the worst bed ever. It's an 'occasional double' so bloody tiny. I hate it. We stayed in my in-laws spare room recently and it was heavenly. A king size bed from John Ryan by design which honestly felt like sleeping on a cloud.

So coming back to now. I've measured up and it would be doable to put a superking size zip and link bed in our room, but I'd have to lose my bedside table. I'm thinking of saying it could be our Christmas present to each other a night where we don't wake each other up and kick each other repeatedly!

Would you if you could? It would be amazing but Will I miss my table? It has no drawers so I'm not losing storage, it has an Alexa, a lamp and a cup on it 99% of the time and my neom well-being pod. I do have a very low and deep window sill near by too though so maybe I could just put it all there?

Well I have to admit it was heaven when the kids were small. I'd happily change it to a king size now, though.

I like separate duvets! Then you can both burrito yourselves

OP get the largest bed that’ll fit in your room, you won’t regret it 🙂

Not that it happens often, now children are 16 & 18, but we can all lie in bed together (with hound) without being squashed. Christmas stockings are still opened on our bed ☺️

To all the people saying you have separate duvets, how does that work? Like when the bee is made during the day?

One on top of the other?

Or do you kind of fold them and just have lying lengthways on top, like two sausage rolls, like they do in Europe sometimes?

We have separate duvets - we’d be divorced if not.

We don’t “make the bed” - I’m a firm believer in airing it, so they duvets get folded back in the end every morning.

Our new king size bed has been delivered today - hope it was worth it!

I've got a super king sized bed and its the best thing ever! My quality of sleep has improved massively.. im such a light sleeper and in other beds all it took was my husband rolling over and breathing near me (he doesnt even snore its just heavy breathing) to wake me completely up.
Now I actually sleep thru the night usually because theres loads of space between us and he can turn on whatever side he likes his breathing won't wake me

So honestly I say go for it!!

We've had a super king for a few years now and it's amazing. It's a zip lock so we don't wake each other if the other moves. We can also fit our two cats plus very active six month old with tons of room to spare.

@agteacht we got an emperor a few years back. Went looking for a super king but the emperor was on sale.

The amount of space is amazing. We use a duvet that is one half low right for him and one half high right for him. There’s less choice for sheets etc but the extra space is worth it.

Superkingsize all the way! Some nights it’s as if there is no one else in the bed...other nights DH crosses the middle in his sleep but I can kick him back knowing he has somewhere to go! We couldn’t share a double now, I’d rather sleep on the floor!😂 I think two duvets is a good call ...two double duvets don’t scrimp and get singles!

I've bought the same one DHs parents have. Oh my god I'm so excited! This has been an extremely good break! I don't want stuff for Christmas that will end up in landfill and this will make my life so much easier. Plus we have 2 dogs who refuse to sleep anywhere else but our bed.

Do people have separate duvets? If you do do you get the same bedding just twice?

So you mind posting exactly which bed you have ordered? I am in the same dilemma. OH kicks and wakes up constantly.

We have separate duvets.

I bought a couple of really nice super king blankets/throws that go over the bed to make it look nice. We don’t generally bother to worry about matching our duvet covers to each other (I’m prone to nosebleeds so mine can get changed way more often if I’m on a run of them).

The update that I'm sure absolutely no one is interested in.. the bed is here and it is amazing!!! I hope the dogs, DH and I can all now sleep without touching each other. Although tbh I don't think the older dog can jump on it as it's very high!!!

Honestly though it's like sleeping in a hotel bed!
