Teacher filmed attacking her horse

Just seen the footage of a woman attacking a horse after a "drag hunt"
She is a primary school teacher and a member of the pony club.
Aibu to think she should lose her job over this?

@DroopyClematis

Yes I noticed *@mbosnz*

I do love a horsey/hunting thread. Makes me chuckle at the indignant posts.

But yeah, of course , only vegans/vegetarians can have a voice when it comes to animal cruelty 🙄

Does anyone know if the horse-slapping hag is a vegan?

Good point - I wonder what her views/practises are in relation to fireworks :)
DroopyClematis · 11/11/2021 17:04

Ooh @daimbarsatemydogsbone
That's a point, maybe she straps bangers to horses' tails to help them perfect their dancey/prancey steps for dressage!

Sorry, poor taste , but people like her should be banned from any contact with any animal whatsoever.

BertramLacey · 11/11/2021 17:17

She probably thinks they're a training aid.

BertramLacey · 11/11/2021 17:23

Not so fun fact, gingering up 'is the practice of making a horse carry its tail high, and to a lesser extent to encourage it to move in a lively fashion, by applying an irritant, such as raw ginger, to its anus or vulva'. I mean I don't think horsey people do this any more but they certainly used to. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gingering

DroopyClematis · 11/11/2021 17:29

Bloody hell!!! @BertramLacey

That's utterly appalling!

What's wrong with these people?

Ddot · 11/11/2021 17:32

Think you'll find it wasnt me, I replied to someone asking if people were vegetarian. I kind of am. Eat fish but not meat but I certainly dont harp on about it.

Ddot · 11/11/2021 17:35

I've seen baby foxs thrown at packs of hounds to get them used to the scent.

mbosnz · 11/11/2021 17:37

Are you implying you have to be vegetarian to object to cruelty against animals?
Ddot: Thu 11-Nov-21 12:18:34
Yes I am

crosstalk · 11/11/2021 17:44

I think we should leave this well alone. While I think the woman should not have done what she did, isn't a great example etc etc, this is the sort of hounding that we criticise other social media for.

Ddot · 11/11/2021 17:47

Mbosnz
Haha meant to say
Are you vegetarian
And I said yes I am.
Not are you saying only vegetarians can complain.
Soz for confusion, my bag!

Ddot · 11/11/2021 17:51

I was replying to post just before that one, that said are you vegetarian

mbosnz · 11/11/2021 17:51

LOL, no worries!

crosstalk, damned if I criticise other social media for this. We're entitled to talk about issues. As are other users of other forms of social media.

What no-one is entitled to do, is track down people's place of employment, and seek to get them sacked, or issue death threats, or incite violence against a person and their family, and give their home address to boot.

Cross posting's a bitch!
Ddot · 11/11/2021 17:58

Ooops 🤣

@Ddot

Sorry to be pedantic but if you eat fish you are in no way, shape, or form a vegetarian or even kind of a vegetarian. That's like saying you're teetotal but drink champagne and beer.

SingleMamaGY · 11/11/2021 18:53

Yes she should lose her job. In the schools they have a clear set of morals to stand by which probably covers being kind/treating others fairly and she has gone against this. She didn’t realise she was being filmed and nobody would have known otherwise and the abuse would have continued. I’m glad she’s gone into hiding. I’m glad she’s been suspended. I hope she’s shitting herself after what she has done. Zero excuse.

And her family?

The rule of law? Innocent until proven guilty?

Does one criminal act endorse other criminal acts - eg vigilantism, incitement to violence, stalking?

Ddot · 11/11/2021 19:13

Bucanarab
Ok!
I'm a Pescatarian. Which is a non meat eater who eats fish. I dont say as I find not many people know the word. But if your a true vegetarian sorry for the offence.

Ddot · 11/11/2021 19:16

I'm kind of teetotal too, drink two or three times a year. Haha

BadNomad · 11/11/2021 19:49

Fish is still meat. Meat is any flesh from an animal. Pescatarians are meat eaters.
WildExcuses · 11/11/2021 19:52

This is what some people here wanted, to take the spotlight off this woman who has abused a horse by getting people to argue about meat eating and fireworks. Let’s not allow them.

Ddot · 11/11/2021 20:26

Sorry but fish is fish and meat is meat. Vegetarian vegan Pescatarian. If you put that slant on it then eggs are meat. Undeveloped babies. As for going off topic, WildExcuses is right.

Helicopterlife · 11/11/2021 20:28

It’s mad really. I was walking home and saw a man kick a small puppy several times in the head. I was going to intervene or call the police but then remembered I had some sausages for dinner last week so I just shrugged and walked on.

Rhannion · 11/11/2021 20:32

Oh for FF sake eating fish is up to you but it’s was a living thing at one time!
It’s like saying oh I’m a vegetarian, but I do eat bacon !!!!

ThePriceIsNotRight · 11/11/2021 20:39

“And her family?

She’s the one that’s responsible for considering her family. If she loses her job as a result of her behaviour, that’s her own fault and her own issue to deal with.

Doubtful anyone is going to go for ‘innocent until proven guilty’ when she’s on video violently abusing her horse. I’ve said before in this thread that we all know we live in a world where, rightly or wrongly, social media outrage is a fact of life. It’s reasonable to assume she knew this, especially as a teacher where online safeguarding is something she will be well aware of. Yet, she still saw fit to abuse this poor animal in public, in front of a number of witnesses.

She’s bought this on her own head.
