Childcare issues at xmas

Dh has had to take a new job due to personal issues meaning he will no longer be off 23rd and Xmas eve to look after our 5 year old and 10 month old. I've asked my work to have it off, they've said there's too many off already. So any advice on what to do?

Don't need and never did need this sort of childcare, but I am stunned it shuts over Christmas & the New year, Why, people still work? Madness.
Although there is also the madness of both parents having to work full time. Once up on a time families could have a good life on one wage, so really we should be able to do half a week each. Women do two jobs now, home and paid work out of the home. Not a great win for us is it?? More like a con. Government realised it can have two taxpayers per family. Plus grow the economy with a need for childcare. More workers , more tax and on and on...........Where is the quality of life? Not seeing your own children except in a rush morning and tired at night and then the weekends. Not ideal is it.

@amispeakingenlgish - I see your point about quality of life but really ? 2 wage earners is not so unusual now & I do not think that it a conspiracy theory

Don’t leave your children with someone you don’t know and cause them stress!!

Don’t fee guilty !!!! Be confident and say you need to take special leave and have it unpaid! They can’t say anything else to you!
