To be really sick of people blaming Labour for the Tories

WTAF? It's a Tory government doing this stuff, yet rather than try voting for someone else, people are tripping over themselves to bleat on about weak leader, lack of opposition etc
If a "strong leader" is some twat like Boris then I won't be able to vote Labour. For now and in the last few elections, I haven't needed some Boris-alike twat at the helm to convince me to Labour, nor should anyone else.

Fair enough if you are an actual Tory and would vote for a dead horse with a blue rosette but anyone who is a floating voter - how much more shit do the Tories need to be for you to stop blaming Labour for them?

But it is Labours fault the Tories are in power. With the shitshow that was Jeremy Corbain, it should have been easy for them to hold themselves accountable to the electorate and actually give us what we want. Workable and sensible policy’s that focus on the police, education, healthcare and social services. Also clean fucking streets-I am so sick of rubbish everywhere. What we get is a party who have no idea about anything, even basic biology at this point they have completely alienated themselves from the voter.

Media ownership is another factor: undermining our ‘democracy’.

And the ‘first past the post’ system.

EngTech · 08/11/2021 20:31

The voters have to have trust in that the party they vote for, and will make life better for them

At the moment and unfortunately for the past number of years, the opposition party are infighting instead of robustly holding the Government to account

Even with an open goal, they are still squabbling internally which makes the voters wonder why they should vote for them

The polls suggest Labour are in the lead after the mega own goal by the present Government

A week is a long time in politics and the GE is a few years away

Againstmachine · 08/11/2021 20:31

The problem is labour are going after rubbish identify politics votes and many people don't even understand what they stand for.

Labours core were union members in steel mines ect in past, however they ought to be courting the minimum wage people in call centres, factorys, distribution ect to vote for them but instead they pander to middle class.

I don't think they're pandering to anyone at the moment or have any policies or vision cutting through.

They've moved away from the left after Corbyn and know they need to win their heartlands back. They've just got nothing to really say to them.

Porcupineintherough · 08/11/2021 20:59

@Nappyvalley15

I think you are relying on a hatred of the Tories to propel Labour to power and that is part of the problem. Labour have to look at how to attract voters and they just don't seem interested in doing that beyond a few narrow groups.
^^This. Personally I wont vote Labour til they work out what a woman actually is (and is not).
Againstmachine · 08/11/2021 21:03

The problem is thet aren't keen on their heartlands and rather than listen will call them bigots

TooBigForMyBoots · 08/11/2021 21:11

I'm not sure that's true. How could anyone claim to trust Boris Johnson when they voted? His Brexit lies had been exposed by then.

user1471447863 · 08/11/2021 21:11

If the Conservative party are so bad then Labour have some very serious questions to be asking themselves why they are viewed as even worse. And the answer isn't that people are to stupid to understand them.

Frankly i'm glad that labour are not currently in power

dotoallasyouwouldbedoneby · 08/11/2021 21:11

@Hertsgirl10

I agree with you OP.

Another thing that baffles me is not 1 person ever admits to voting Tory, they say oh I like to keep it private or something like that 😂 Why are they so ashamed to say they vote for the Tories but still do it?

The 'shy Tory' voter has been a well known phenomenon for some time. I am surprised, you are surprised they keep it to themselves, given so many posters' vitriolic reactions.
Pinkspecs · 08/11/2021 21:20

@JackieWeaverHandforthCouncil

YANBU and I haven’t read the thread but I bet it’s a bunch of ‘because trans…because that nasty Raynor woman triggered me with the word scum…’.

Boris could shoot someone dead on live tv and there will still be people saying it’s Starmers fault for not storming the stage quickly enough to grab the gun plus he’s not charismatic.

Boris could remove minimum wage and reinstate poor houses and some people would say ‘but a random Labour activist shouted the word TERF on Twitter so I have no choice but to vote Tory again. Even if it means I have to go to the food bank and can’t afford to heat my home anymore’.

I don’t know why some Tory voters go through this cringe charade. If you prefer Tory polices then just say you do. That’s fine. Don’t come up with a million excuses and try and blame others for ‘forcing’ you to vote in the way you do.

I think this sort of comment is a prime example of why people are fed up with Labour fanatics. You don't listen, you patronise women with your misogynistic views, not even bothering to read people's views, not listening to women making VERY valid points on their concerns over women's rights.

Many of the people on here are labour voters or ex labour voters, me being one of them, they have said how they feel on the women's rights aspects and you won't even bother to read, instead you mock them and that is exactly the reason why labour will never get in, they have alienated the people that vote for them.

You obviously don't give a shit about women being vilified by downplaying the TERF labelling as though it is nothing.
I find labours stance quite scary as a woman currently.
As an ex labour supporter I now have no one to vote for so yes I will blame labour for putting me in a shitty position.

Absolutely disgusting.

HateIsNotGood · 08/11/2021 21:27

YANBU - it's completely the Labour Party's own fault for who they are now, certainly not the Tories' fault.

user1497787065 · 08/11/2021 21:30

There are always people who vote for a good constituency MP rather than a particular party.

A labour vote in my constituency is a wasted vote. We had a Lib Dem MP for a very long time and more recently a conservative.

PieMistee · 08/11/2021 21:34

It's completely the Tories fault they are ruining our country.
Labour needs to get its act together but they couldn't possibly be as damaging to the country as this pile of self serving, corrupt, sleazy narcissists.

Sean2001 · 08/11/2021 21:36

If the conservatives are so bad! If!!

And no, Labour are not viewed as being worse. No party could be. Other than something run by the likes of Nigel Farage perhaps.

Hotcuppatea · 08/11/2021 21:38

I blame Labour for throwing women under the bus and forcing me to even consider voting Tory. Life long Labour voter here but I refuse to give my vote to a party that thinks men are entitled to women's spaces, sports and words. Just no.

Mango101 · 08/11/2021 21:41

Surely we're all voting Green at next election.
Does any other issue matter by comparison?

Theunamedcat · 08/11/2021 21:41

I would back labour if they would back me! But they won't because I'm a woman with disabled child there worst kind

I voted for the local independent last time I will not waste my vote I will not vote for tories but I CANNOT vote for Labour I tried to engage with them gave them my email reached out when he didn't explained the debate and why women felt so threatened no reply nothing I got an automated response then nothing so I'm blocked by an mp? For asking his position on rapists declaring they are women and gaining access to an entire victim pool I had names dates places I had screenshots of tweets from the guy who masterbated in clothing in m&s and hoped a "terf" tried it on next and nothing

Fuck them

Theluggage15 · 08/11/2021 21:43

Labour are viewed as being worse clearly, otherwise they’d be in power. Tbh Labour and many of their voters seem to hate women and anyone who doesn’t think ‘correctly’ and isn’t ‘pure’. Tories don’t care, they just want votes.

Obsidiansphere · 08/11/2021 21:45

Yanbu…you get this regularly on here…pisses me off 🤬

LemonSwan · 08/11/2021 21:54

@FourTeaFallOut

That is down to people who voted Conservative. No one else.

People who voted Labour all their lives voted Conservative in the last election. Entire areas where previously you couldn't say Tory out loud without somone spitting on the ground returned a Conservative mp for the first time in the last election.

The sheer arrogance to think Labour didn't do anything wrong and it was, in fact, the electorate who was wrong will be exactly the reason why Labour won't win the next election either, unless they sort themselves out.

This!

Its really not that difficult for Labour to sort themselves out.

  • Someone give Starmer a biology lesson then fire him & pick a leader with at least a KS1 level of education.
  • Just pick 3 things of importance to focus on (NHS, Education, Crime or Employment Wages/Rights etc)
  • Drop the divisive identity politics
  • Tell momentum/ owen jones et al to either get on board with the 3 things of importance ONLY (no other topics!) or shut the fuck up on social media & other forms of media.
Doingtheboxerbeat · 08/11/2021 22:35

This thread is so depressing 😞 and I know I am part of the problem but I couldn't ever bring myself to vote Tories - no matter what.

Yellownotblue · 08/11/2021 22:56

@FourTeaFallOut

Yeah, I'll berate labour. I fucking want to vote labour. I want to have a party that represents a left of centre politics in government without the regressive identity bullshit and moralising.

DerAlteMann · 08/11/2021 23:22

I'll not vote for any party that refuses to implement proportional representation in Parliamentary elections. As far as I'm concerned there is no difference between the Tories and Labour. Both want to stick with First Past the Post proving that when the chips are down both put the good of the party before the good of the country.
