Has anyone else been watching the snag tights/applicant for social media position debacle? I have no involvement in this but have been watching from the sidelines in utter bafflement and now I don’t know if I’m missing something or if this person is truly reaching in order to take offence

So snag tights were recruiting. This person applied, was asked to do a video interview, said yes and was then not interviewed and when snag came back they said all positions were filled, they’d missed her reply and were but would be back in touch when recruiting again. This person believes it was because snag had looked at their social media and decided they no longer wanted to interview them.

This has erupted on both sides with this person posting on multiple social media sites and snag owner Brie seeming to apologise over and over. Admit a mistake was made and that steps were being put in place to resolve moving forward.

That’s it in a tiny nutshell but there’s so much more now including accusations of doxxing.

Is anyone else been reading? AIBU to think the applicant has taken it too far now and needs to move on?

@FreeBritnee

What the hell is VV influencing aside from my gag reflex?!
Grin Grin Grin
RozHuntleysStump · 07/11/2021 20:10

She’s not an influencer with only 1200 followers. She probably bought them. I have nearly 4K and I’m not one either.

This thread.

But it's actually quite hard to find the story with Google searches.

Travis1 · 07/11/2021 20:15

I’m still not sure what she wants now? I know previously she had a list of ‘demands’ but now it’s just lots of ranting with other non influencing influencers jumping on the band wagon.

rooarsome · 07/11/2021 20:17

I don't think either side has come out well tbh. Apparently VV sent follow up emails which were ignored and then got a reply saying the positions had been filled- so it isn't a case of just missing one email.
If they had scouted Vv's social media and thought they weren't a good fit (very, very understandable considering the content!) then fair enough, but offering an interview to an applicant and following up with poor/no communication is crap.
However I do think VV is reaching and looking for problems. The stories are just a rambling mess.
As an aside, Snag have also just had a costume competition on their social media and one of their ambassadors/whatever won it, which isn't entirely fair IMO.

She wants exposure to help promote her adult content.
Travis1 · 07/11/2021 20:24

@rooarsome was that not voted for by other customers though? Ambassadors aren’t paid I don’t think? Is it not discounts they get for posting on SM?

Am I the only one that if I didn’t get a reply from a company I would take it as a bullet dodged and move on to the next job application?

DinaofCloud9 · 07/11/2021 20:28

I really wish I hadn't looked at her Twitter feed. Shock Snag has dodged a bullet there. Truly awful.

Teaandtonic · 07/11/2021 20:28

I'm glad I found this thread!

VV is a lunatic. I don't understand how posting her name is violent though.

MirandaWest · 07/11/2021 20:57

I love my Snag tights. I am size 10-12 and I don’t wear the smallest size so smaller people can wear them too.

Some of the advertising pictures don’t appeal to me but I have no problems with men wearing tights. I’m in some Snag groups on Facebook and there’s various men who wear tights.

I did read the full post from Brie but am glad I haven’t looked at the Instagram of the person who luckily didn’t get the job!

PompomDahlia · 07/11/2021 21:17

The job applicant seems like she might be unwell or be neurodivergent. Neither side comes over very well - I'd have expected Snag to have a better HR/recruitment system. I'd have thought they would have made a shortlist to interview based on experience, then done a more in depth check on them (including socials given the post) before making the invites to interview. Their comms also don't sound particularly professional.

CSJobseeker · 07/11/2021 21:22

To be fair, it sounds as though the role was multiple "community champions" rather than proper paid employment. They were probably offering a few free pairs of tights in exchange for "organic" promotional content.

And they probably worked out what she was likely to do with their tights in order to "champion" them.

@kwiksavenofrillsusername

If someone like Snag Tights won’t work with you, you may be beyond batshit crazy.

I don’t buy from them because I can’t stand their adverts with the crazy influencers who all claim to be non-binary, queer, label, label, label etc. I just want some fucking tights, not a political rant.

Yup. It automatically stops me from buying products. Eg Lush. Sell bath bombs and soap - yet think they are the Dalai Lama.
Bingbong21 · 07/11/2021 21:44

Snag would be absolutely within their rights to run a mile having seen her twitter. Grim.

Cocolapew · 07/11/2021 21:52

I agree with pp that Snag needs to stop and step waaaay back. They are looking desperate and unprofessional. Just ignore VV and let her rant on, nobody is going to take her seriously ffs.

Urgh yep me too @kwiksavenofrillsusername 🙄

@Georgieporgie29

I have briefly seen this and it look like
  • person applied for job
  • they asked her to email availability for interview
  • she replied
  • they completely missed her email so didn’t interview her
  • they announced the jobs had been filled
  • she got in touch to complain
  • they apologised
  • she went all over Instagram calling them out, saying it was because of something she had posted on her social media
  • they apologised again, saying they hadn’t checked anyone’s social media as had (I think) 250 applicants and didn’t have time, implemented a new way of doing things so it wouldn’t happen again
  • she called them out again on social media and called for the staff member to be sacked
  • they replied on social media and posted screen shots of conversations to prove their side. These screenshots had her name for example Dear Julie
  • she called them out for posting her name all over social media

That’s the gist that I get, although obviously could be completely wrong

Sounds like a storm in a tea cup to me.
HarlanPepper · 07/11/2021 22:13

I don't know anything about marketing or social media but I suppose this is one of the downsides of building a brand by trying to make a sort of 'cool gang' community out of the people that buy your products, and acting like your brand is everyone's friend. It blurs the lines and people start to think you owe them stuff.

SuperDup3r · 07/11/2021 22:14

@PeriChristmas that image is truly hideous.

why oh why would any right thinking woman buy their tights after seeing that? The mind boggles tbh. What hideous marketing

It's not selling them to me.

EishetChayil · 07/11/2021 22:20

Please don’t let their increasing “diverse and inclusive” marketing put you off. They are genuinely great.

But it does put me off. Advertising needs to attract, not repel, and I am physically repulsed by seeing a hairy-chested fat man on my Facebook feed. I'd rather go without tights, however grand they are for my chub rub.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 07/11/2021 22:21

“Some of the advertising pictures don’t appeal to me but I have no problems with men wearing tights. I’m in some Snag groups on Facebook and there’s various men who wear tights.”

Can’t speak for other posters, but it’s not the fact men are used for advertising their products that get me.

It’s the overly sexualised pictures they choose, and the fact that they might include gender diverse men in their marketing, but realistically the vast majority of their customers will be boring, normal women like me, who need a couple of pairs of boring black tights for their boring office job.

Their ads are all very on-the-nose and conscious that they’re being diverse instead of actually focusing on who their core market is.

It would be amazing if they included men in their campaigns in earnest- lads on a building site as a pp suggested, guys at rugby training or wearing a kilt or something. But the fact they don’t use their marketing budget to target men says a lot.

Not just violent, a "deliberate act of violence" I think were her words 🙈😂 overdramatic much
RozHuntleysStump · 07/11/2021 22:28

That pic is so gross. I had it turn up on my Facebook earlier. I had hidden the last one. I’m thinking I might give those Heist tights a go tbh instead. None of their adverts represent me; a very ordinary, middle aged woman…
