to think I did not break his fucking arrows?

OK, so we both work F-T. I take the our eldest to his hobbies after school, as H does not get home in time. This means I have stopped the two hobbies I have as they clash with DS1's hobbies. Its also a pain as they are 20mins drive away which means I end up in some crappy cafe for an hour trying to entertain ds2 whilst DS1 is in his classes.

H worked from home this week so I asked him to take DS1 to his class on Thurs. H said 'but I do archery then', 'yes' said I ' but you can also do that on Sat instead' 'That could be quite good' said H ' I can do it in daylight then.'

However, H has just decided to fire his arrows in the garden.

And they all broke. Some how he has reframed this as 'my fault (if you had 'let' me go on Thurs I wouldn't have 'had' to practice in the garden and they would not have broke Hmm

He is now huffing and puffing and trying to claim this means I am not supporting him to do his hobbies. Confused

@FetchezLaVache

Who the fuck are the 3% who voted YABU?? Any of you care to talk us through that verdict?
It's the DH.
CoraPirbright · 05/11/2021 13:48

I think the only correct response to this is:
“And when you did you ever support ME in doing ANY hobbies AT ALL, you utter cunt-weasel?”

ShoveThatArrowUpYerArse · 05/11/2021 13:48

@JesusInTheCabbageVan

Go out there now and snap the bow Grin Do it.

@Tal45

He didn't have to practise in the garden, that was entirely his choice.
That's exactly what I told him!

@SpinsForGin

Ah so you have 3 children.......
Depressingly, when I tell people about how he behaves, their eyes widen and they say, ' but that's just like a child!' or ' but that's like a teenager.'

And it is Sad

@BestZebbie

I understand breaking the first arrow, but how did he fire them all before noticing?
I think he just kept going till they all broke.

I mean, why not when its not one's fault, but you can just blame someone else Hmm

Is he 10?

Is he generally like this?

Budapestdreams · 05/11/2021 13:52

I'm actually really happy that his arrows are broken. Firing them in a garden is extremely dangerous. At least now he won't be able to acccidentally kill someone.
I would be furious if any of my neighbors did this.

ShoveThatArrowUpYerArse · 05/11/2021 13:53

Have you married a fucking idiot?

Yes. I have. A completely unreasonable one. It wasn't so apparent till we had children...

He sounds like a cock.

Is he worth staying with if this is standard behaviour and attitude?

PassingByAndThoughtIdDropIn · 05/11/2021 13:54

@ImUninsultable

So wait. He would actually be able to take your son to his hobby on a Thursday but doesnt because he goes to his own hobby? But you had to give up your hobby to take your son to his?

So he gets to keep his hobby, you give up yours but... you're not supporting his hobby?

Have you married a fucking idiot?

I'd be telling him now that I'm going back to my thursday hobby, and he can do his archery on a saturday instead and he is responsible for the kids on Thursday nights.

To be fair, the reason why H doesn't normally do the Thursday run with the DC isn't because his man hobby is so much more important (OP clearly wouldn't stand for that shit): it's because he's normally physically not back from work in time.

No and Yes.

How many hobbies does DS1 have?

HaveringWavering · 05/11/2021 13:55

Why is archering in the garden more likely to break the arrows? Surely you still have to fire them at a target?!!

There is a lovely song called “Broken arrow” by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Play it loud on repeat on every speaker in the house.

The back of our garden doesn't back onto anywhere another human being would be, so its not actually dangerous.

The important thing is, will he now waste a fuckton of family money on replacement arrows, meaning everyone loses out?

RachelHasThoseInBurgundy · 05/11/2021 13:56

Your husband is 5 years old?

I would ask him to “explain that to me? Explain how it is my fault?” And make him explain it until he realised how fucking dumb he sounds.

KingofQueens · 05/11/2021 13:57

Dear God- your husband was asked to move his hobby to another available day to accommodate his child and he broke his toys in a petulant strop? You know who's unreasonable here op.

@frazzledasarock

Well he ain’t got any arrows now so wont be needing Saturday for his hobby.

Go do your hobby on Saturday. All day.

As above.
Dontbeme · 05/11/2021 13:59

@ShoveThatArrowUpYerArse I do archery, I shoot recurve and am lucky enough to have had training from someone who competed twice at the Olympics, the reason your DH broke all his arrows is because he is shit at archery, he has poor form and obviously doesn't listen at his club if he managed to break all his arrows. Did you aim into a wall or something equally stupid. I don't say this lightly but he actually sounds unsafe and shouldn't be shooting unsupervised. Any club puts safety first and your DH would be getting a serious chat in any club I've attended.

Sorry , not helpful at all, but this op and the replies have made me laugh out loud Grin

He never realises how dumb he sounds. He is a fact-free, logic-free, reason-free zone.

Are your names Robin and Marian?

pointythings · 05/11/2021 14:01

I envy you your back garden - mine is only about 30 ft long and backs onto another garden, so definitely not suitable for archery!

How long did it take him to break all his arrows, and how bad at archery is he really?
