Would you pay?

I'm so sorry, I'm putting this up again because I'm hoping to get more opinions.

Went to the hairdressers and got a trim and dye. Was asked to leave the cash in the next day, as the card machine was broken. Came home and looked at my hair and it's so patchy! I haven't left the money in yet, but im tempted to just pay for the trim and not the dye. I don't want to ask them to do it again, as I don't trust them and I would feel really uncomfortable sitting there whilst they done it, as I'm quite an anxious person.

AIBU to just pay for the trim?

Would you pay?

In your case OP if you don’t trust them to put it right then no you shouldn’t pay. It does look very patchy too.

DrGoogleSaysSo · 01/11/2021 18:19

When they finished doing your hair and you had a look at the mirror, what did you say?

GreyhoundG1rl · 01/11/2021 18:23

I honestly would prefer not to get it fixed
Seriously?! You can't just decide you don't want it fixed so you're not going to pay. That's not how it works.

Cam77 · 01/11/2021 18:24

They should try to fix it. But you need to pay for services received. Whether or not the quality of the service was deemed poor is a separate issue to whether or not you pay.

thisgardenlife · 01/11/2021 18:25

Why would anyone go back to a place that got it so wrong in the first place? I would have no faith, or reason to believe, that they could put it right. So no, I wouldn't pay either.

This is such odd reasoning Confused literally can't get my head round it

It looked fine. But when I was straightening it afterwards I noticed that the layers were patchy

@Lairymary

If the card machine had been working, would you have gone back once you realised you weren't happy with it?
To be honest I would have written to them asking for a refund

Exactly my thinking, thank you!

Email them enclosing the pictures. Ask for their bank details and say you are happy to pay for the trim but not the colour. You’ve received a sub-standard service. They should have provided a professional service or declined to do your colour if they thought it would be problematic. You could always go to another salon and ask for a quote to fix it and add that information to your email. I’d also leave a Google review outlining your experience.

Thepennysjustdropped · 01/11/2021 18:31

The trouble is, if you're an anxious type of person then you're not going to like telling them you'll pay for the cut but not the colour. You would be better going in and tactfully saying that you'd noticed it seems to be a bit uneven and could they please fix it? Give them a chance.

Charlene1971 · 01/11/2021 18:31

@Gonnagetgoing

You should let them put it right.

To those saying you should pay. After first lockdown I booked into salon who changed the stylist on the day without telling me, I asked for full head of blonde highlights and stylist put on full blonde bleach and I only realised after he put it on and was too late to take it off. I had showed him a photo of what I wanted (had it before) and he ignored me. Seeing as I had to pay to put it right, I didn’t trust him to do it or another stylist there and they’re a chain so I didn’t pay. I’ve still got damaged hair from that time.

So, you didn't pay or let them fix it, but I should let them fix mine? 🤔

I would definitely state that I was dissatisfied and frankly, I would prefer they didnt touch it again, so I would politely decline if they offered to fix it. I would be open to negotiate a fair price, for example pay for the trim and potentially the cost of the products used, or something along those lines.
If you had a meal at a restaurant that was inedible, or service extremely poor, would you be keen to go back again? I don't blame OP for not wanting to chance it.

Cam77 · 01/11/2021 18:37

Jesus Christ
JC yourself! Let them fix it and then pay up, or pay up directly and leave a poor review. If a service has been provided you can't just not pay.

FreshFreesias · 01/11/2021 18:38

I agree with you OP, the posters demanding that you pay for these hi lights are very off.

FreshFreesias · 01/11/2021 18:39

@Cam77 But they didn’t provide a service did they.

Beautifulday345 · 01/11/2021 18:41

Is it only patchy underneath? What is it like with your hair down?

Even if they service made my hair look far worse than it was before? 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

I’m a bit confused that you’re too anxious/scared/intimidated by the salon to go back and sit there whilst they recolour your hair, but you’re totes chill with going back to tell them you’re not paying ....

Well, if you actually read my thread you would see that I wrote to them about it. Please read through the thread before commenting in the future 😊
