Hi I’ve been gifted this LV wallett for a special occasion celebration by DH and I don’t want to sound ungrateful but won’t it just be hidden in my bag most of the time? It’s genuine so cost a lot of money but it’s a wallett isn’t it - so would it be just in my bag or would I carry it around as you would a clutch?

He got you a purse so what’s the problem in keeping it in your bag where a purse is supposed to be?

I know someone that has had one of those for about 15 years and it still looks new, so the quality is definitely there.

I think you just use it as a purse btw.

@TwoFours that’s really nasty. Why are some posters so vile and nasty? Shows lack of intelligence actually as if I was trying to show off I am rich why would I be bothered about having it hidden away? I actually had this bad for my 50th if you must know and I don’t own any designers bags at all. DH obviously bought this thinking I could get use. Stop with nastiness people.

The mini wallet on chain is about £800-900, is it possible he could return it and get the bag for you instead

@Ann51abc it's definitely just a purse purse, I wouldn't carry it around on its own unless I was just popping in to my local store very quickly. It's far too small.

I would poke two holes in the top and attach a long chain to use as a shoulder strap then it can be worn across the body. I heard that's very stylish right now, it'll be like a posh bumbag. Poundland have some nice long chains in the halloween decor aisle at the minute.

OP, do not go poking holes in your purse; it will not look stylish.

Personally, I would use it as a purse rather than a clutch. I think it’s too small for a clutch. The point is, if you like LV, you’ve got a nice purse. Nobody else has to see it for you to be able to have enjoyment out of it.

I have a lovely mulberry purse which my husband bought me a few years ago. It's a bold colour and I use it every day. Not as much as the LV but not a cheap purse. It still looks as good as new and I enjoy using it. I'm not a fan of keeping things for "best".

Just use it as a purse

@rainraim I kinda feel cheeky asking. It’s a lot isn’t it for the bag on chain. I think I’ll keep it as a purse and look at more affordable bags I can actually make use of. My nights out at the moment I use my Dorothy Perkins handbag lol! What bags could I get that are nice but budget friendly?

I’m literally quoting what you have said. It’s a purse, it goes in a bag. Your husband would have known that when he bought it. You want it to be seen, why?

But I’m more concerned about the LVs cruelty to animals.

LV dont give refunds.....only exchanges.....they do have some interesting designs...i have the murakami colore in white.

What style of bag are you thinking of? An every day bag? Or an evening bag? And what sort of budget are you thinking of?

Its a lovely purse. I don't have one but a few friends have LV items and they are fab quality.

I would use it as a purse or clutch. Depending on the situation.

It’s a purse. I have one in a similar size from Mulberry.

I use it everyday as I am old school and don’t do all that Apple Pay nonsense.

Having a beautifully made purse that you use all the time is great. It’s not like a bag that is on show. It’s better. Understated.
Every time I go to get my cards or money out I get to see it and feel it and enjoy the quality.

It’s like wearing silk underwear. Nobody knows you have it on but it makes you feel fantastic.

Now that Apple Pay is unlimited, I can’t imagine ever using a purse again. As the gift seems like such a lovely investment, a bag may be more useful in the long run.

DH got me a lovely Mulberry continental purse a few years ago, I used it every day, it is really more "cost per wear" friendly as a gift than a clutch bag you only use once in a blue moon. But I stopped using it last year when I moved to using a tiny card holder that would fit in my pocket when out on the many walks we did in lockdown. I've gone back into work and back to carrying a bag full of things for my day, but haven't gone back to the big purse, I've scaled back what I need for the day and a big purse seems to just take space in my bag.

Yeah, had I engaged my brain I would have perhaps realised how you meant it. But the thought of holes in LV just gave me palpitations. I panicked and that was the result 😂

I'd use it as a purse and enjoy it that way. Personally it looks more sophisticated when you take it out to pay for stuff briefly. I kind of think subtle glimpses of expensive stuff is classier than having it overtly on display.
