OK I probably am being horrible but I couldn't help but laugh hearing that people are calling Ulrika Johnson 4 X 4 - aparently it has really upset her.

OP posts:

no but you have to be able to see that the media is misogynistic. If she plays the system then fair enough, but you can't really know how she feels or what she has done from a few trashy articles in a magazine.

jinglebells2shoessmells · 17/12/2007 15:16

so why did she write that book?

ruty · 17/12/2007 15:23

haven't read it. Saw her in a programme about sex addiction and she was frank and honest and it was fascinating. You are free to criticize her but as others have said funny to criticize her for having multiple partners when for men it is taken as pretty normal.

dara · 17/12/2007 15:26

Male celebs don't make a thing of their relationship????
Des O'Bleedin Connor put his wedding in Hello! And he has FIVE children from FOUR marriages. Nobody is calling him a slag, are they?

dara · 17/12/2007 15:28

I care about how women are portrayed and how we have a double standard about women's sexuality because I have two daughters.

jinglebells2shoessmells · 17/12/2007 15:30

ruty i can't stand her. but don't think she is wrong for having slept with a few frogs. not everyone meets the right man at school and stays with them for ever.

PaulaYatesbiggestfan · 17/12/2007 15:31

2shoes - maybe she wrote the book to pay her kids school fees?

noddyholder · 17/12/2007 15:32

What is her predicament?

docket · 17/12/2007 15:33

Yuk. Ulrika is vile but this thread is viler!

ruty · 17/12/2007 15:37

Rod Stewart anyone?

noddyholder · 17/12/2007 15:41

I have had multiple partners just didn't have kids with them

ruty · 17/12/2007 15:41

Mick Jagger? Boris Becker?

PaulaYatesbiggestfan · 17/12/2007 15:43

let's all 'smirk' about them

LittleSleighBellasRinging · 17/12/2007 15:45

"She's out there so must expect to be judged"

Kitty, you can choose not to judge her. You talk about her being judged as if it's inevitable, as if you can't help it. You're choosing to do so - you can choose not to, if you want. One can only speculate as to why people feel the need to judge people they've never met and will never know.

KITTYmaspudding · 17/12/2007 16:52

sleighbella, we all judge all the time. I do not believe anyone who says they don't.

Yes it's still true that a woman who sleeps around is considered 'loose' but a man who does the same thing 'a player'.
I guess it's not 'fair' but I honestly don't feel the need to stick up for her because she is a woman.
I think having 4 kids by 4 men who were clearly unsuitable for her was foolish. She shows lack of judgment repeatedly. We will see whether this relationship lasts , let's hope he's right for her (I care not one jot btw), the chances are he won't be. Will she then go and have another baby with another man?

ruty · 17/12/2007 16:53
Hmm
Elizabetth · 17/12/2007 16:55

You don't need to stick up for her Kitty, you could just ignore her. It's the "she's a slag" crap that is so thoroughly objectionable (and sexist).

Don't people grow out of calling women sluts and slags when they leave school?

dara · 17/12/2007 18:11

Exactly, if women would stop enforcing this disgusting double standard on other women, then nobody would need to 'stick up for her', would they?

LittleSleighBellasRinging · 17/12/2007 18:19

Yes I'm not an Ulrike fan, I know nothing about her, I just don't feel the need to slag her off.

Is something lacking in my life or something? Should I be slagging her off?

noddyholder · 17/12/2007 19:07

she shows lack of judgement repeatedly? How do you know?Maybe she fell in love and it didn't work out.The kids are loved and well looked after so why you feel the need to be so harsh is beyond me.You I suppose are a paragon of virtue

dara · 17/12/2007 19:09

Say she's a shite tv presenter, or you hate the way she sells her life to the highest bidder in stupid magazines, or that she seems stroppy on a reality tv show, but to come out with stuff about how she's a 'slag' because she has had sex with more than one bloke, is just infantile. I also hate the way she gets criticised for being hit and raped. But that's incredibly common I think. A woman comes out and says she was hit or attacked by someone she was in a relationship with, and she gets really vicious attacks made on her character. It's like Saudi Arabia sometimes - flog the rape victim because she's a WHORE!

noddyholder · 17/12/2007 19:14

well said dara things like this make me want to avoid MN at times because I can't believe people with these views havany place on a site predominantly for women

KITTYmaspudding · 17/12/2007 22:36
Hmm
PaulaYatesbiggestfan · 17/12/2007 22:37

yes some of the people on here truly turn my stomach to be frank

yankey · 18/12/2007 15:19

Not sure about Mick, thought he had 4, 3 of which are Jerry Halls. I think it is funny but quite sad too that the joke is smug and therefore the kind of joke that makes the stigma of leaving someone a price your children also have to pay. I was 1 of 3 x 2 so not sure exactly what I'm laughing at anyway!.
