To think it's weird to share a bed with your 14 year old daughter?

I had a friend.

She was a single mum. Her daughter was bullied at school, so she took her out for homeschooling.

In conversation with her one day she mentioned that her and her daughter routinely shared a bed.

I'm sure it was nothing sexual and the girl is well cared for but AIBU to be a bit freaked out by it anyway?

As I said earlier it’s something that happens in our house. Some of our best conversations where my children have been able to tell me what’s upsetting them or troubling them have been late at night. Darkness, no distractions, warm and comfortable are all good for talking. The most relaxed time to speak from the heart. My ASD son only likes a snuggle late at night. On his terms. So he just lays facing away as no eye contact and me and my husband do not talk until he does. He likes to put a foot on my foot or my husband. That’s it. Nothing in anyway sexual about it. I can literally see him relax! My daughter got married two years ago. We stayed in a hotel the night before the wedding and we had twin rooms. I stayed in the room overnight with her. We ended up talking til late in the same (single)bed and fell asleep. Probably our last bed share together, she’s 28! OP please don’t assume anything sinister or nasty with your friend. It’s ok. Breathe. And butt out !!

My dd would love to sleep in my bed - I'd let her if she wasn't so long and wriggly too

That's the reason it freaked me out!

I think it was for her mum's comfort as much as hers.

Even if the mum does also gain comfort from having her daughter close at night why on earth would that 'freak you out'. I'm sure if the dc didn't want to she wouldn't
