"To reduce your speed to 20mph to reduce the risk of accidents"

Um... Or perhaps they should thinking about scraping their backsides off the tarmac of a busy motorway during rush hour?!

Here we go again...

To give a heads up to anyone using the M25 tomorrow....

Now. If they stuck Boris to the M25, that's something I could get on board with.

Righty · 27/10/2021 17:39

This country is a joke. Arseholes can sit on busy roads and block them, inconveniencing poor sods trying to get to work/hospital appointments/transporting goods or whatever. They aren't fined heavily or imprisoned, they just a warning.

The government should charge them for the full cost of policing them, the lost work hours and inconvenience of those they hold to ransom.

antsinyourpanta · 27/10/2021 17:44

Considering the police force has been cut to the bone, it feels an incredible waste of their time to protect and keep safe people who are choosing, voluntarily, on multiple occasions, to put themselves in a dangerous position.
Aside from the ambulances that can't get through what about people in emergency situations that are no fault if their own that may have to wait longer for the police to arrive because they're spread too thinly.

PiousPenelope · 27/10/2021 17:53

Oh no!!! I'm using the M25 tomorrow!! Where on the M25 is this happening please?

PiousPenelope · 27/10/2021 17:56

Or did this happen today...?!

tempchecked · 27/10/2021 18:11

British public are far too tolerant. I'm watching and reading about this from abroad and I cannot believe that those affected are so accepting about it all. Well some are bloody well annoyed, but how it hasn't escalated into violence is a mystery.

Then again, anything like a counter protest would just play right into IB's hands. Immediate legislation is required to ban protests from blocking thoroughfares, and make it criminal act to prevent the emergency services from doing their jobs to help and save people.
But there is no such thing as bad publicity is there?

Puppermam · 27/10/2021 18:22

*You really don't get it, do you?

It's not about how much or how little people do, but we do need to do something.*

Yeah .. i do get it actually. Thinking insulate Britain and anyone who supports them are stupid fucking twats doesn't make me a climate change denier. I don't think it's up to the government to fit insulation into private homes. I also don't think sticking yourself to the m25 is a good way to get positive attention for your brand.

If that woman "got it" she wouldn't have had a kid.

Tulipomania · 27/10/2021 18:24

Literally no-one is saying that other people shouldn't have kids because of the climate crisis, although there are quite a few people making that decision for themselves.

Because frankly our kids are facing a very, very scary future.

SirensofTitan · 27/10/2021 18:31

@PiousPenelope

Oh no!!! I'm using the M25 tomorrow!! Where on the M25 is this happening please?
It's already happened but they are doing stuff most days so no doubt they'll be selfishly spoiling people's days for some time.
Welshiefluff · 27/10/2021 18:35

When did the police become so shit?

Iluvfriends · 27/10/2021 18:37

@Mulhollandmagoo

*Ways to thwart people in power, blockade them.

Leave off fucking up the people with no power going about their business.*

Couldn't agree more!!! Will be interesting to see if they turn up at cop26! If they genuinely want the government to pay attention to them they will show up there - otherwise they will just carry on terrorising Joe Public and being ignored by the government

I hope they dont turn up at cop26 there's enough disruption on the roads because of this already. M8 lanes and off ramps closed and Clydeside Expressway closed.....2 of the busiest roads in Glasgow and many more off limits in a very busy area.
Puppermam · 27/10/2021 18:43

Literally no-one is saying that other people shouldn't have kids because of the climate crisis, although there are quite a few people making that decision for themselves.

Ok so it's you that doesn't get it.

If these idiots, specifically these extinction rebellion and insulate Britain idiots cared about the environment SO much that they feel entitled to lecture everyone else and lobby the government about ways to "save the planet", then to avoid being a massive hypocrite, they should be looking at their own actions making sure that they are as eco friendly as possible (yet we see plenty of them with phones and wearing polyester). They certainly shouldn't be having children. Because having a child is the worst thing anyone can do from an environmental standpoint. So if they have a child, yet they're gluing themselves to motorways to protest that OTHER PEOPLE aren't doing enough to combat climate change then they are a massive fucking hypocrite. Get your own house in order first. If you had a child then decided you care about the environment then sit down and shut up.

bordersroaming · 27/10/2021 18:52

Gosh what utter rubbish

Having a child isn't the worst thing you can do

I mean follow that logic , the best thing for the planet is for us all to Kill ourselves now

The far better goal is to learn to live within the limits of the planet

The only reason children today have a large footprint is because it's impossible to live a green life in the current society . The housing stock needs a complete overhaul . This had been known for decades. Public transport needs an overhaul, with handouts to trains not planes . This has been known for decades

The nice , none disruptive actions are not working. They have been tried for decades and now we don't have decades left

You think this is bad , watch how much worse the effects of climate change will be

tempchecked · 27/10/2021 18:53

As an aside, the COP 26 makes me laugh. All those delegates from all over the world descending on Glasgow and getting there by mostly utilising fossil fuels in their journey.

Call me a total cynic, but they are no great advertisement for curtailing international travel, carbon saving and what not. Do as I say, not as I do, I am not impressed at all.

OrangeBananaFish · 27/10/2021 18:53

I live nowhere near the M25 so not directly affected by them and I fucking hate the selfish bastards blocking the roads. Fucking twats!!!!!!

Sparklingbrook · 27/10/2021 18:56

The nice , none disruptive actions are not working

And this latest madness is? Confused

TSSDNCOP · 27/10/2021 19:39

Where they were at Dartford today is a main route for emergency vehicles getting the Darent Valley A&E, maternity, children's, ICU and general hospital. When anything blocks that location the traffic bleeds back unbelievably fast onto the A2 and all surrounding roads servicing that hospital, and slightly further way Queen Mary and Blackheath hospitals.

Merrilee · 27/10/2021 19:48

Thank you, all

Dangled from a zip wire, surely?

ivykaty44 · 27/10/2021 21:30

@SevenZebrasDancing
They blocked the cycle Lane to stop the drivers using it, not the cyclists 🚴‍♀️

FinallyDecided · 27/10/2021 22:21

They really are dumb cunts aren't they

Pencilandpaper · 27/10/2021 23:07

I imagine there is a lot of hypocrisy from this lot regarding how they live. They clearly are very thick, what with the way they have chosen to protest, the gluing themselves to the floor and the not being able to come up with any practical answers on what they are protesting over.

jetadore · 27/10/2021 23:39

Well, the suffragettes threw themselves under horses to get the right to vote.

TSSDNCOP · 28/10/2021 00:01

Well, the suffragettes threw themselves under horses to get the right to vote.

A suffragette ran out on the track in front of the King's horse, when the jockey was lucky to escape with concussion.

But what's your point?

MercyBooth · 28/10/2021 00:19

@authenticforgery Im willing to bet some of them were screeching "protect the NHS" not so long ago.
